Sad But True 03-31-2011 07:05 PM

Think he's a really decent player. I rate his riffs more than his leads tbh, although I still think he's somewhat more tasteful than most metal shreddy guitarists. Nevermore with Loomis/Broderick was something I would've loved to have seen live.

Kuffuffled 03-31-2011 07:37 PM

Not a fan of his tone, his playing is pretty clean though. Don't like Nevermore either

The Transporter 03-31-2011 08:33 PM

he uses harmonic minor way too much

Kuffuffled 03-31-2011 08:51 PM

some fool aint on aim

The Transporter 03-31-2011 10:18 PM

if you're talking about me, i never got the memo to get on aim instead of kspe

Epidemechanical 04-01-2011 09:28 AM

no vocals

Sad But True 04-01-2011 10:02 AM

I know. I'm an assclown sorry. I've been trying to get my life in order recently so it's kinda taken a back seat, but, as I'm expecting some drum tracks to begin mixing any day soon, my vocal recording setup won't be far behind.

The Transporter 04-01-2011 10:14 AM

lol i cant wait

God you're predictable.

So Lod, managed to fix 3 out of 4 broken pedals today and just need a part for my big muff and then we're all gravy. Do you know those little black suitcase things with the aluminium edges and corners that people use for pedals, where can I get them from on the highstreet rather than online?

Not really. I barely talk to you and I'm never 'mad'.

benfan 04-01-2011 03:06 PM

Hello Lod.

I want either this -

http://www.ibanez.co.jp/products/eg_page11.php?area_id=3&data_id=210&color=CL01&year=2011&cat_id=1&series_id=479

Or this -

http://www.ibanez.co.jp/products/eg_page11.php?area_id=3&data_id=247&color=CL01&year=2011&cat_id=1&series_id=486

But i dont know which one. Tough desicions.

Sad But True 04-01-2011 03:14 PM

Personally I'd get the S7420. I think the bridges are brilliant and they address the standard drawbacks of floating bridges. It's got open coiled pickups rather than EMG 707 sized ones which means you can swap them out for a much wider variety of 7 string pickups if you want. Oh, and the switching options looks more fun than the RGA. A no brainer if it were me.

EDIT: Haha I've just sold myself on it. Now I'm checking Ebay prices. I really need a backup 7 string.

benfan 04-01-2011 03:22 PM

Haha iv been looking for a while, its gonna be my first 7 string. I was also looking at the Schecter Loomis but i cant justify dropping that much money on one. Im not sure if id use the trem but i can always block it off if not. Its just a shame they only come in black because i love white guitars.

Sad But True 04-01-2011 03:31 PM

TBH I'm really starting to dislike the 81-7's in my LTD and wish I had some open coil pickups with a bit more life in them.

The Loomis looks ok but I don't think it's worth it's price tag, although if you always wanted a 7 string but also wanted a maple board then it's your only choice.

The bridge on the S can be used as a dive-only bridge which is awesome because you can still change tunings and stuff on the fly, treat it as blocked but still use the bridge if you want to.

I'm probably a little bit biased as I've wanted one of the S 7 strings since they came out.

benfan 04-01-2011 03:33 PM

Iv got an 81/85 set in my LP and im swinging back towards passives.

http://www.sevenstring.org/forum/sevenstring-guitars/119051-custom-ibanez-s7420-snow-white-lootnick.html

That guitar is beautiful.

Sad But True 04-01-2011 03:40 PM

...Good god that is a beautiful guitar. Oh and it's black on the back as well! I want it :(7
Wait no it's black on the edges and white on the back. Even better.

Does anyone make passive humbuckers that fir the 707 routing hole? Or a converter or anything that you know of?

benfan 04-01-2011 03:45 PM

Some guy over on that forum managed to put some Bare Knuckle pups in a 707 hole without using a pup ring or anything. Just bent the pegs that hold the screw slightly.

Sad But True 04-01-2011 03:52 PM

Hmm, I shall investigate further, and thanks for showing me a guitar that I will want forever but never have :(

E.S.P. 04-01-2011 07:25 PM

I'm trying to figure out if he's called himself 'Obsidian' because he's a black metal guitarist and if he's realised that obsidian isn't a metal, or, he's got really weird parents.

I'm not even going to describe the dimensions of said part.

He probably calls himself that because obsidian is really black, or something.

Sad But True 04-02-2011 11:29 AM

But not a metal. In fact it's closer to glass, but I suppose black glass doesn't have the same connotations, and would be pretty useless tbh.

But! I still think it's a cool material and a cool sounding word. So meh.

Attention SBT -

http://www.projectmusic.net/ibanez-s7420-free-hard-case-package--free-delivery-5743-p.asp

To buy or not to buy?

Im slightly weary about buying from the internet and not bieng able to play the thing first :/

Sad But True 04-04-2011 03:52 AM

I swear I've seen them cheaper than that, it may have been Ebay though, which probably isn't as trustworthy as a proper shop. Also looking at these prices makes me realise what a bargain my SC607B was.

tbh if you've played any Ibanez you'll know how it plays; thin neck, low action, etc etc.

benfan 04-04-2011 04:00 AM

I cant find any dealers that carry them near me (nottingham-ish), and that didnt look like such a bad price, with it having the hard case and that.

Sad But True 04-04-2011 05:36 AM

Yeah the deal looks sweet and with it being an actual shop rather than a web based shop I'd be more inclined to trust them.
