I thought it was pretty good compared to many lists. Rolling Stone magazine doesn't even seem to acknowledge Maiden's existence, for one. Their top 500 albums list had no Iron Maiden at all (or Rush)!

MikeyB11 07-20-2005 03:26 PM

I dont know if this has already been posted seeing how there are over 400 pages of this thread, I was wondering what you guys thought of Bruce's latest solo album tyranny? I just bought and i can't stop listening to it. The guy can 'kin sing! what are your thoughts?

Welcome to the forum and the maiden thread
bruce's new album is teriffic, the vast amount of variation of style and sheer brilliance of bruce's voice makes for a wondrous album

ashman 07-21-2005 02:05 AM

bigdudedrummr07 07-21-2005 09:47 AM

I would like to say that iron maiden is the all time worst band in the history of music. i would rather liten to a rat giving birth to deformed twins than iron maiden. they are an old sold out bunch of posers.

I've just ordered a V-Amp Pro, so I'm gonna do the recording when I gets that... (It's like a POD, but cheaper :p ).

Also, I got a new guitar with a whammy bar... :D

Got a Vintage Metal Axxe, it looks really cool. I'll get a picture of it next week at Band Practice.

It was the only guitar that I could afford, that had a whammy bar, 24 frets and squeals like a bitch when I do Pinch Harmonics :thumb:

I love Maiden. I'll be checkin them out at Ozzfest Tuesday...show should kick ***

YDload 07-22-2005 09:00 PM

Well, add 22 Acacia Avenue to the list of Maiden songs that exhaust my fingers from playing the whole way through (or just attempting to):

22 Acacia Avenue
The Trooper
To Tame A Land
Phantom of the Opera
Rime of the Ancient Mariner (can't complete this one :()

sigh.

Rolling Stones mag is truly rubbish. But check out this list:

http://www.digitaldreamdoor.com/pages/best_albums-metal.html

Maiden got No. 3,6,7,11,22,39,52 and 54. NOTB and Powerslave are my fav Maiden albums, so I was happy with those ones being up there.
I do think Cowboys from Hell should've been higher. It's nice to see Appetite for Destruction, a Halford album and Painkiller up there.
Talking about Halford, here's a discussion. Do you guys think Bruce Dickinson would take the cake as the greatest metal singer ever? Or Halford? They're both quite awesome.

YDload 07-23-2005 12:50 AM

I think Halford has more range and for that reason, he may be a slightly better singer. But I like the band that Bruce is in a lot more, especially the rhythm section ;)

I've never heard much Halford, but in my opinion, Dickinson is the best singer in the metal world. His voice has a lot of range, but it's also got a LOT of power to back it up.

Moses 07-23-2005 01:15 AM

I agree with YDload.

Anyway my band is gonna cover The Trooper in drop c. The song is actually in c so it'll sound the same just the verse and prechorus will be alot heavier.

The Trooper isn't in any one key. It's more like the classic E-D-C progression that Maiden is known for. Or however "Paranoid" goes because there are a lot of similarities there.

They are pretty hard songs...

crag 07-23-2005 04:40 AM

well i've got all my stuff done for the thread cover band, i presume its E-T-T that i'm sending it to?
