haha one of my best friends is helping me with form and technique
it's pretty awesome :-D
thats good last thing you want to do is injure yourself. And dont rush into heavy weights. /remember football tryouts. |
free weights are MUCH more beneficial
what? no way. BS right there. Benching all the way |
if you get into it heavily...
you learn not to over do it as well. If it takes you DAYS to recover, you definitely are doing something wrong most people work separate muscle groups, alternating days
what? no way. BS right there. Benching all the way
you can bench free weights numb nuts :thumb: |
haha one of my best friends is helping me with form and technique
it's pretty awesome :-D
Heh, I have a family friend who used to train with the army help me. Cept instead of weights, we do things with our own body weight for long periods of time, or lots of reps. |
Douglas Adams \m/
I recently ordered his last book, Salmon of Doubt, and I look forward to reading it again :-) I just went lifting for the first time...Three hours later, my arms, chest, and back are completely dead =(
I've not read that one. Only 3 or 4 of them I think, sadly. I really want to read them all all the way through at some point, but I don't own them all yet. I discovered them as is at a garage sale, but it wasn't a full set :( I hate weight lifting, I'd rather do Karate to workout. |
you can bench free weights numb nuts :thumb:
BURN!!!:amaze: |
you can bench free weights numb nuts :thumb:
That's annoying as hell though. |
All this talk about weight lifting and such makes me sad. I'm a weed.
|
That's annoying as hell though.
well, see, you are going about it the wrong way. you see bench as in "wow, i can do this much weight!!! I'm a man" free weights work the complementary muscle groups. With that GOOD form, its MUCH harder to do 8 reps, of say 85 pounds, compared to 125 pounds on bench that CONTROL requires muscles that you cant work out with a bar alone, like you would think |
I've not read that one. Only 3 or 4 of them I think, sadly. I really want to read them all all the way through at some point, but I don't own them all yet. I discovered them as is at a garage sale, but it wasn't a full set :(

You only max out to see how much you start out on.
|
u've seemed to prove me right instantly.

I'm not actually overweight. I'm about 126lbs.
How tall are you? |
edit- damnit guitrguy u beat me to the question.
Weight depends on heights but generally 126 is a good for someone around 17-19 i think it was. But the best ratio is weight : Height |
5"7.
The weight:height charts told me I was the right weight  |
After 15 its really just height to weight comparison. I don't think age is factor after that point.
|
damn, you make me feel tall
/5'9" anywho, works out PEACE |
5"7.
The weight:height charts told me I was the right weight
thats pretty skinny im 5"10 and about 190 |
well cardio and lifting are two very different components of working out
True, but I felt (and looked) in shape simply by doing pushups, situps, leglifts, jumping jacks, etc... Karate isn't just moving around and stuff, it addressess lifting to a point too, and I found that was the only way I could ever do anything like that. Luckily I'm just naturally thin :D EDIT: 5'11" ~155 lbs  |
I'm about the same, 5'7 and 126. I'm a shrimp.
Luckily the thin guys are in with the ladies at the moment. :) |
I'm watching Patrick Stewart being awesome in his new ITV drama.
6'4" and hell knows. People who are happy with themselves don't weigh themselves Probably around 175, 180 |
thats pretty skinny im 5"10 and about 190
I'm the same height as you, but you've got a good 15-20 pounds on me. What's your body fat percentage?
I'm about the same, 5'7 and 126. 5'10". 180 lbs. It's around the normal weight for someone of my height and body type, but none of it's from tone. :upset:
It's ironic too because in freshman year high school, I could count my ribs in the mirror I was so scrawny. |
