Yeah, I know. They're playing a show in town this weekend. Contemplating going.

You guys and Stfu Stevens, it's comical.
I've been hearing good things about this band and album. Who do they sound like? Is the album worth checking out?
Think a mash of Tindersticks-baritone & Interpol's atmosphere. It's fantastic stuff, definitely worth checking out. Here are a few links to give it a listen.

Nothing Stfu does is brilliant. You fan boys, oi.

What don't you like about 'Stfu' Stevens?

Dog 11-23-2005 02:50 PM
Sackcloth 'n' Ashes is really solid. Secret South is better-written I guess, but I prefer to listen to the former.
Thanks, I got a hold of Sackcloth 'n' Ashes and I'm digging it. Also:

K'naan - The Dusty Foot Philosopher; I'm starting to think that this is my favorite release of the year thus far, but I don't wanna speak too soon.

Everything about his music sucks nards.

I've seen him live and it was terrrible; however, it was fun heckling him.

asymm 11-23-2005 02:56 PM

For someone with such strong opinions, you don't ever say much to support them.

The NPC 11-23-2005 03:01 PM
For someone with such strong opinions, you don't ever say much to support them.
That's more than enough.

I don't need to write an essay to say that his music is terrible. It's just terrible. When I listen to it, it makes me want vomit. It makes me wish whoever had spawned him hadn't had sex that day. It makes me loose complete faith in the future of music. I can't stand the fan boys that continually jizz over this moron. It just doesn't make sense.

If I wanted to write a review of his album or his music I would, but I don't have the time nor am I going to waste more time on this site to do so.

I would say a 'to each his own' approach would be more beneficial when you attempt to justify things in this way.

I don't. It sucks, wake up or clear his jizz from your eyes for being a good fanboy.
Yeah that's great and all but you're missing the main point, which is that the album rules.
:) I'm not particularly a Sufjan Stevens fan to begin with.

Today:
Sonic Youth - Sister
Guided By Voices - The Pipe Dreams of Instant Prince Whippet [EP]

morrissey 11-23-2005 03:12 PM

And Joe fulfills his word of the day quota.

Guess which.

It makes no difference to me, you should be destroyed like the rest of them.

He's got a fantastic flow, a high pitched voice(but not to the point of being annoying), and is accompanied with very good mix of African, old school-ish, and world beats. He's from Kenya, and a lot of the subject matter in his songs are about his home country. I've listened to it several times over the past couple of days and have yet to get tired of it. Highly recommended.

Kyle 11-23-2005 03:28 PM

I dug out Use Your Illusions 2 today, I love this album.

morrissey 11-23-2005 03:43 PM

She has a new album? I've never even heard mention of it.

Then again I did see this second-rate "Because of You" video on TV the other night. Is that on the album? (I don't know the title of the song just that it echoes every "my childhood sucked" songs I've ever heard)

pixiesfanyo 11-23-2005 03:45 PM
Brilliant album. Second best of the year, even if you uneducateds don't think so.
Meh. It's a good album.

But no one can deny it drags on way to long.

Half the songs are exactly the same, and the stupid interludes are pointless.

If the album was 40 minutes long it'd be brilliant.

I'm really into Woody Guthrie. Musically, he was Bob Dylan's grandpappy. Old school folk.

If you like Woody Guthrie ccccheck out Billy Bragg and Wilco's Mermaid Avenue. Guthrie lyrics with Bragg or Wilco music.

I don't know much about Surf Jam Stevens but everyone says that "Casimir Pulaski Day" is the saddest song they've ever heard. I know that he's the patron saint of Poland, and I'm mostly Polish, and the song's about bone cancer, and... well, nothing in common with that. So I dunno.

eeeeeeeeeewwww someone mentioned the D4. Dion (he guitarist) used to have a hot as girlfriend and when he broke up with her I saw him boozed as in town and i asked him about it. He frowned, told me to *ahem* "just shut up... and fuck off", and then I followed him to a bar.

Awesome.
