Am I the only one that enjoyed Victims of Deception more than Breaking the Silence?
Yes :p RCA and Sensitive: those names are indeed "uberness" :thumb: |
Guys i am back. Now i dont just listen to thrash i play it. I just wrote a thrash song. Its fun to play. I shall post as soon as i can upload which probably will not be soon.
|
Strangely enough I preferred Victims of Deception to Breaking the Silence. It's amazing how you don't notice the songs are long as hell. It's like ....And Justice For All, except...good :p No, AJFA is a good album, just stupidly long in parts.
|
And its got Blackened and Dyers Eve(Which Lars can't play as we all know) which are probably their best songs.
|

Those aren't very hard songs too. Its sad on Lars' part. |
Everyone knows he's a pants Drummer. It's amazing how much credit he gets. Haha I bet he demands to have his name on the tracks as a 'composer' what the hell does that mean? He doesn't write the music or lyrics, his name shouldn't be there.
|
Yeah and after seeing that St. Anger video that came with my the cd( I do not own it) he looks like he's going to die from playing his ****ty parts. But moving onto a new subject, who do you think is the best thrash drummer?

Haha, that's hilarious. Best Drummer has been brought up before I think, by me of all people. Mind you that was ages ago. I'll stick to my guns and carry on with Charlie Benante. He's not the best, that's probably Gene Hoglan, but he's my favourite. |
idk about thrash drummer but the drummer of manowar is amazing,
if i was in a band with lars, i would get so annoyed just by the way he talks, its annoying. and the fact that he is bring the entire band down. that would annoy me too. |
Manowar isn't really thrash. Although Gene Hoglan is great, his best work doesn't fall into the thrash catagory. I've always thought Lombardo and if Christy counts, he would take my vote.
|
Richard Christy? Well, Iced Earth are usually lodged in Power or Thrash, so he can be counted. Yeah, I guess Hoglans best work was later on, although his Drumming in Dark Angel is pretty spiffy.
|
I can't believe you guys are talking about thrash drummers without even mentioning me. BLASPHEMY!
I own all, except for Hoglan. By the way, you guys notice the similar drum parts in One (Metallica) and in Darkness Descends (Dark Angel)? |
Yeah, it's very noticable aswell. It's not something that would have to be brought by a nitpicker. Could be just a coincidence, but we'll never know.

Oh really fool, can you top my 100 bpm eighth notes? I think not. |
As for band names, I decided if I got in a band with no name and I had the choice to name it, I'd name it either Deviation or Insurgent.
Not too sure which one, but everyone I asked says Deviation > Insurgent |
everyone should check out this band called Watch Tower if you haven't before, the are considered Technical, Progressive Thrash. It's great stuff reminds me of a mix between Fates Warning, Control Denied, and Metal Church, but with a lot of thrash incorperated. It's great stuff

I remember you mentioning them before, in fact I may still have some links... No just checked, I don't but I remember them being mentioned and taking a listen :thumb: Oh, and best thrash drummer = Gene Hoglan |
It really does happen on this thread. Nobody listens until someone mentions something a million times. I've mentioned WatchTower a few times. Energetic Dissasembly is mental...especially the Bass on it.
|
I never said anything about Watchtower just becuase I can't stand the vocals. :p
And Metallica did rip off that drum riff... it was mentioned before in here. |
I downloaded Watchtowers "Energetic Dissasembly" and thought it was good.
Best thrash drummer is Gene Hoglan. |
Energetic Disassembly is my favorite tech-thrash album. Great stuff!
I think the best thrash drummer is Gene Hoglan, although my favorite thrash drummer is Kirk Arrington. (For all who think he isn't thrash drummer, listen to the MC song entitled "Merciless Onslaught". :p) |
He is a very solid player.

Hey, me, you, and metal-militia should start an MX "Death to Poseurs" crew. Give me a couple days, I'll get on that. |

I did think of you, just that you never post anymore. :( All I have to do is make an avatar. How does a corpsepaint smiley holding a sign that says "Death to Poseurs" sound? Or it could say "Thrash 'till fucking death" or whatever you guys think is good. By the way RCA, where'd you get that "Pleasures of the Thrash" avatar? |
Haha awesome.
Yeah, ever since the computer came in my room, ive been on the comp less. Go figure. |

I tried to make it better, but my communist Microsoft programs won't let me :( I was thinking we could make our statuses like this: Death to Poseurs Crew Enforcer Death to Poseurs Crew Executioner Death to Poseurs Crew Undertaker Death to Poseurs Crew...Gravedigger? I get to be Enforcer, since I thought of it. The rest are suggestions and you can pick what you want. Enjoy. |
