he may have the most annoying voice of all time but he could be one of the most influential bass players of all time as well..

Thunder Fingers 05-31-2005 03:27 PM

I love GEddy's voice, it got an awsome personality, and he can do what he want with it.. he can go kinda low and he can sing 'kin high!

I had the best time before the practice today, my band was alittle late so i sat outside on the concrete with my back against the wall, my bass beetwen my legs() headphones and cd player spinning my favourite album(Rush - Counterparts), light rain, but just enough sun so i didnt become wet, half a stage in my view and the rest was sea and the valleys at the other side(Trees!:D) oh it was great.... i havent enjoyed meself that much in a long time...

Left Shoe 05-31-2005 03:36 PM

i think mindless self indulgence did a better tom sawyer on their new album

Fuck school! Music is much more important! (i need to find a band with the same meanings as me...)

bottlerocket 05-31-2005 03:50 PM

^

Agreed! I need to find a band that I know 100% will get big so I can drop out.

...although my real passion is chemistry.

Imagine how pimp of a musician I would be, being the lead singer/screamer or bassist of a famous band and hitting on chicks in bars:

"You know, I really wanted to be a chemist, not a singer/screamer [or bassist]"
"THAT'S SO HAWT DO ME ROFL"

Welcome to "music" in a thing we like to call "the 21st Century." ;)

I know what you mean, though, but it's not all skill. If it's cool I'll listen to it.

i do the same thing. i have come to understand that in general these days, persistance and motivation mean more then your skill with your instument, which is in my opinion bullshit

yeah, ofcourse, i listen to any kind of music.. ill just anoy over the bassist alittle while and then forget him..:p and then get shocked if he/she throws in a 5th somewhere..

But it scares me from wanting to educate me as a bassist if that is what im gonna turn out like... like the school im going to now, the teacher for bass is the ex-bass player for a pop rock band, and how i have heard that band, hes no more than a guitarist with a bass(i REALY hope he prove me wrong...)

Thunder Fingers 05-31-2005 06:13 PM

ooooh! my money have gotten out of my account, and that means my CIJ fender precision and Badass II bridge is sent today or tomorrow! :D

Thunder Fingers 05-31-2005 06:17 PM

No! :upset:

My guitarist went "your getting a precision?! if you know how to play them and do it correctly they sound awsome! i bet its gonna be great!"

Since my left hand like to think it belong to a guy with the initials S.H, i think i will make it sound good :p

Yeah, not all bassits wind up like that. Matt Rubano majored in bass performance at Berklee and he was a session bassist for a while, laying down some really sweet grooves. He's now the bassist of TBS and is so awesome at what he does for the music.

Amen to that Brotha'!

Thunder Fingers 05-31-2005 06:29 PM

im very Much a 5th guy to.. but i tend to often use the octaves and the 5th and then move into the scale and the 5th... my biggest fear is to run out of patterns and end up doing just the same thing over and over again(thats where i could learn even more from Geddy, he use the same pattern often but make em sound COMPLETELY different...)

im also afraid to over do it, but there im happy that i have a band that give me a clear message "Martin! Thats to much" and then i go the same thing only remove a couple of notes..
