Kronos 02-27-2007 03:41 PM

I haven't been on MXDP since last October (the shame...)

Then a certain "Mr Pink" was creating some hoo-haa. What's happened to him?

Chippy569 02-27-2007 03:52 PM

he's around.

Kronos 02-27-2007 03:53 PM

Has he mellowed?
josiah why do dic-cast hoops on toms sucks?

they sound okay on my renowns.
Try some flanged or wood....

Or just take the rims off your 14" tom and put them on a scale. That's just metal from rims. More weight on tom = less resonance.

Oooh the Beech Room -

Nice Josiah very very nice!

Pleaseme 02-27-2007 04:28 PM

Is that an 18" tom?? Looks huge! Big love for the Yammies.

Quinto 02-27-2007 04:30 PM

but die-casts make tuning easier, dont they?

Futuro 02-27-2007 04:40 PM
but die-casts make tuning easier, dont they?
If you like bad tones its easier to get them from diecast. so yes they are easier =/

lol Reminds me of poppinfresh

"I use hydros on top and bottom with diecast on top and bottom."

I actually do like the sound of a diecast on the batter side of my copper snare. It lets alot of the bite die.

Pleaseme 02-27-2007 04:45 PM

I miss poppinfresh :( he was funnay

Josiah 02-27-2007 04:46 PM

16" tom, camera perspective.. I love the Yamaha's!

I would say tuning would be slightly easier with die-cast due to the rigidty, however that doesnt' negate the deadening effect for me. besides tuning should be 2nd nature to you anyway. It's your instrument, tuning comes before playing.

Like futuro, I use diecast on snares for the same reason, some on top, bottom, etc

On the TD-12 I can choose the hoops that I wish to use. And yes, the die cast do remove alot of the resonance from the drum.

Its kinda good for an experiment as I can change the hoop without changing the drum tuning at all, plus you can hear both rims on the drum withing seconds of each other.

I could do some audio of each possibly to clear this up?

Berk 02-27-2007 06:37 PM

Specs on those pedals.

poopoogaypoon 02-27-2007 06:38 PM

Pleaseme 02-27-2007 06:42 PM

Haha, I showed my hi-hats to my mate working behind a pub bar, and he and the other bar maid (fine AS) just stood there for ages tilting them into the light and watching the colours :p

I want a Duallist Pedal.

And i have really bad dandruff today for some odd reason.

fishbulb 02-27-2007 09:06 PM

A duallist would be fun to screw around on, but it's probably unreliable.

Berk 02-27-2007 09:14 PM

Yeah, Plastic. lol.
