Crass isn't about the music. You don't listen to Merzbow to have your ears massaged and you don't listen to Crass for melody.
I listen to music for enjoyment, I don't to hear a band sound like 5 year olds who just found some instruments laying around a studio.
Has anyone in here seen the d0cumentry Punk Attitude? A couple of my friends showed it to me the other day and I thought it was pretty good at covering the older Punk. I wish they went into more detail about today's underground scene but it was nice to see some live footage of the MC5. I didn't even know that even existed. It was also very cool seeing the footage of the Sex Pistols playing at that show in Texas where Sid gets hit in the face with a glass bottle and keeps playing all bloody.
Yes, I have. My brother gave it to me for Christmas, it's pretty good. :)

SantaDuJuan 04-25-2006 05:06 AM

Wasn't the Texas scene in Sid and Nancy?

Drop The Baby 04-25-2006 05:34 AM

I saw the Bouncing Souls on Sunday night for the fourth time and this was probably their best show yet.

Why have they refused to play Manthem to me still? They played four songs off their upcoming record, sounds like it will be amazing, better than Anchors Aweigh
Play That Funky Music, White Boy > all disco > Grinding your testicles off with a belt sander > Crass
You take that back! Fernando is disco! Staying Alive is disco! James Brown is Funk/Soul!

WHOOOOOO!

Marten finally got laid! Go Marten, go Marten, whoop whoop, Go Marten!

And J-Ro had a dream about kissing himself. I will never drink tea and read OverCompensating at the same time again.

Holy shit, some guy just came out of the house that's across from my backgarden only in his underwear and a wifebeater shirt and started mowing the grass. This is hilarious.

Culture Shock 04-25-2006 06:40 AM
Very cool. I went to the UK two years ago and I am going back this June. For all of you in the UK, if I made a thread about shows/musical festivals/record shops/good places to drink/cool places in general would you post??
Eh, eh?

The Feeding of the 5000 is great. You can't tell me those aren't real songs.

Bloody Revolutions, Big A Little A, Banned From The Roxy and How Does It Feel To Be The Mother Of A Thousand Dead? are their best songs, in that order, in my opinion. Asylum is their best spoken-word.

A friend of mine just went to see a show a few weeks ago, it was Penny Rimbaud and the old bassist (who is another friend of mine's grandfather) and they had all kind of weird music. He said they had DJs, lots of poetry (in true Rimbaud fashion, one was half an hour long apparantly), some punk music, rock, folk, experimental mostly. It sounded awesome, I wish I could have gone. He said he thinks it's only a one-off. Either way, I would be very disappointed if they got back together, unless they have a very good reason to do it.

Just wondering if any of you can help me out with understanding a Rancid lyric. It's always made what it means, it's in Ruby Soho and is:
"He's seen his name on the marquee but she will never understand"

coheneran 04-25-2006 07:50 AM

Rancid are not to be understood, but danced to.

"Don't try and dig into a fool's mind, or you will be fooled yourself."

Aristotle, roughly.

He's famous, she doesn't understand all of the bullshit that comes with being famous, and so drama ensues.

There's a communist party in Britain called the New Communist Party and they are Stalinists, no joke. They had a picture of Stalin next to one of Lenin on one of their banners. I'd never had so much fun heckling another protest bloc.
