SOAD - Hypnotize

Odd album. Soldier Side and Vicinity Of Obscenity might just be their best 2 songs ever, but then there's something as truly shameful as Lonely Day. I guess it's a 3.5 overall. Not as good as Mezmerize.

I love that spoken intro at the beginning at Motor City Is Burning.

Yeah, I was thinking that as well. It's weird because everyone (even the band members) said that this half of the double-album is their better one. Oh well, I'm sure it will grow on me. The lyrics in Lonely Day sure are cheesy though, but I could never take a band like SOAD seriously when they are so fucking goofy all the time. Aww, look at the widdle kids talkin' politics! Hee hee, now do the one about the pogo stick :)

br3ad_man 11-22-2005 06:48 PM
Is it good? All the reviews I've read have been quite positive.
It's an hour and forty minute show.

the CD is kind of lame, but it's worth the cash.

it was 12 bucks for me.

you get to see Nick's **** too.

Yeah, do it. Ummmm, acquiring a copy... I guess people could download it from the thread in this forum. It's uploaded with megaupload so I think that will last for quite a while. Or I guess you could put the link in your review.

That sounds great. Especially if it's cheap, which I doubt it will be here.

I have their live album Hoarse. It's pretty good, and it's got a few great covers; Fire Spirit(The Gun Club), Day Of The Lords(Joy Division) and Bad Moon Rising(Creedence Clearwater Revival). It makes me really want to see them live. What do you recommend from them?
I need to get Paul's Boutique. Licensed To Ill is stupid but stupidly good fun.
That's one of the reason I like Licensed To Ill, it's a bunch of dumb fratboys having fun, drinking beer and chasing teh poon.

I've been meaning to check out Ill Communication for a while, because I love Sabotage.

Little Man being Erased 11-22-2005 08:54 PM

mmmmm, "Sabotage" is great. Awesome film clip too.

I've been hearing good things about this band and album. Who do they sound like? Is the album worth checking out?

Meh, from what I've heard about them, they're all wah wah and chug chug and woooaaahhhh. Like a metal Mars Volta? I'm over that prog deal man, so yeah.

I just remember you in a Circle Takes the Square review I think, and also you like that whole stoner scene. And Gospel is kind of a blend of the two genres.
