definately go

cobert 03-13-2006 11:08 AM

My band finally got rid of our guitarist (he quit), so now were having trouble looking for a new one. I finally get to stop playing his corny-a'ss atreyu sh'it.

whiteminority 03-13-2006 11:14 AM
I'm really glad all of you guys are in bands. I've been going to private school since 6th grade so there is such a narrow range of people to choose from in terms of musical taste and instrumental ability. I've never really had the opportunity to be in a real band (reference: DRACULACORE) and have had to do it all myself (reference: Greer, Prime Meridian), so it's tight to see a proliferation of tight music through people I hope to influence/help/support through this unusually personal forum.
I know how it is not having a lot of people to choose from. Everyone around here who is in a band is doing either a The Strokes or Bullet For My Valentine type stuff which really sucks. I don't mind the Strokes (I love them actually) but I wouldn't want to play their style of stuff. But luckily I am getting a drum machine and I have one buddy who plays guitar so I might be doing something in the near future.

Special Brew 03-13-2006 11:17 AM

Pay for a bus ticket, and give me a place to stay, and I'll play with your band.

haha

whiteminority 03-13-2006 11:21 AM

hahaha, one day maybe. currently i think i might jam with a couple comadres down where I'm at currently, which is my dad's down in clemson, south carolina.

deadohiosky9 03-13-2006 05:25 PM

Dfelon, i go to a private school too, and no one there is even familiar with hardcore or punk rock at the least. I have yet to meet anyone besides my bandmate who is into similar music...and we can't find a drummer/bassist. So yeah, its very frustrating growing up in an area where there are no musicians. I don't consider En Medias Res to be a "real" band either because we do like so many instruments ourselves to make up for our lack of people, so we can't really do shows and stuff.

Wow 03-13-2006 05:30 PM

No one is into hardcore in Dublin and no one is a musician, or a semi-decent one atleast. It's incredible. I'm the only person here who listens to hardcore, besides a few scenesters who know some of the popular hardcore bands.

The guitarist of icecreamxcore doesn't even dig hardcore.

deadohiosky9 03-13-2006 05:36 PM

lolzach

Matt? 03-13-2006 05:38 PM

exeter has like a few kids who like some emo but really no one is into it

whiteminority 03-13-2006 05:43 PM

none except for some who know like ctts, orchid, and pg. 99. and none of them even listen to them. but the red scare was from knoxville (10 mins away) and sadville is 30 minutes away and no one knows who they are really.

Zach fails dude.

deadohiosky9 03-13-2006 06:15 PM

dude he really does

Matt OH! 03-13-2006 06:50 PM

i think that there's probably a lot of people who listen to emo in massachusets, considering the amount of bands that come out of there

i think i'm gonna try to go to college in mass so much cool stuff down there

SGlove 03-13-2006 07:01 PM

I was able to play in an emo band for about two months before we disbanded.
The stupid drummer stopped showing up.
He said he was inspired by From First to Last.
That was a bad sign from the start.
I saw a sweet band this weekend, helloRomeo, and they were tight.

I really wanna do this kind of band, but decent drummers are hard to come by.
I'll just settle for the pop-core/post-hardcore band I'm in.

Definatley man, but there is also a lot of kids who are into the whole generic metalcore thing. But there is a decent amount of good bands, and there is plenty of people who are into emo.

Jawaharal 03-13-2006 09:30 PM

don't you want to punch people who say "music is like candy, you throw away the rappers."

conniption 03-13-2006 09:32 PM

Never heard that before. Those people are probably complete ignorant to the underground rap scene. And even if they weren't, and had listened to it, the least you can give is respect.

Matt OH! 03-13-2006 10:05 PM

sometimes i wish i had a radio show

would be cool

some of my friends do but they just play sorta hyped up indie, not my cup of tea but not bad at all i guess

I think indie is the most boring thing to play on guitar.

whiteminority 03-13-2006 11:07 PM
Like Clap Your Hands Say Yeah or some crap.
CYHSH are fucking cool.
CYHSH are fucking cool.
I agree.

SunnyDayRealEstateAM 03-13-2006 11:54 PM

I love Clap Your Hands Say Yeah!

whiteminority 03-14-2006 12:00 AM

I swear if I ever stop listening listening to hardcore, I want to spend the rest of my life listening to indie/garage rock.

News Flash: You Can Listen To Two Music Genres At the Same Time

vocman 03-14-2006 07:01 AM
I swear if I ever stop listening listening to hardcore, I want to spend the rest of my life listening to indie/garage rock.
If I stopped listening to hardcore, I'd start listening to punk again, even though it sucks.

Matt? 03-14-2006 02:39 PM

no i listen to indie, but i don't really like the kind of bands they play

and yes i mean like clap your hands say yeah, and like sufjan stevens and that like indie pop kind of stuff i guess it's called

i don't really like indie pop i guess, some is enjoyable though

Jawaharal 03-14-2006 03:31 PM

Sufjan was amazingly mediocre and CYHSY! are decent at best.

The only thing good that pitchfork has hyped alot recently was Animal Collectives' Feels. That album is sex.

Matt? 03-14-2006 03:33 PM

the way i read pitchfork is that, if it gets lower than a nine, i'll have a chance at liking it

there are a few exceptions though

StandingStill 03-14-2006 05:30 PM

The standard of writing on pitchfork is absolutely shocking.
