Don't worry. I've grown out of bands, and rather than it being sad, it's more nice to listen and reminisce,

pate 02-13-2007 06:11 PM

^^^ Exactly.

Stormrider 02-13-2007 06:12 PM

I'm listening to Iced Earth's Horror Show atm. Excellenet stuff !

My most listened IE album right now.

NP Iced Earth - Phantom Opera Ghost

Sometimes taking a break from your favourite band will make you appreciate them even more later on.

pate 02-13-2007 06:31 PM

Agreed.

So, Mystic Prophecy was named the co-headliner of one of the days of the Chicago Powerfest that I'm going to.

I'm revisiting them now, and I really like Regressus and Savage Souls, but don't like the other two. Discuss.

Hardhat 02-13-2007 06:33 PM

Have ticket prices come out for that yet? In my eyes, Novembers Doom and Martyr are enough reason to go. But a few other bands sound really good just from my brief listens, so I think its gonna be awesome.

pate 02-13-2007 06:34 PM

No, it'll be announced in a week or two.

I'm going for Solitude Aeturnus, but all of the bands so far are good also.

Shattered_Future 02-13-2007 06:54 PM

APOEIGNASEPOIGNSAPOIEGN

I want to go see Novembers Doom...

Lee, you better get some footage of them for me.

I like revisiting bands that I haven't listened to in a long time. Right now, I've been listening to, of all bands, Linkin Park.

Laugh if you may, but Hybrid Theory is actually a really cool album. I don't think there's a weak track on it.

pate 02-13-2007 07:11 PM

Just make the commute for the Powerfest.

Shattered_Future 02-13-2007 10:43 PM

I can't...I don't have a license.

Just shoot the footage. Or else I will be forced to summon a thousand rabid badgers to rip off your genitals.

I've experienced that. When the sheer fanboysm fades you see things much clearer and it helps you be more objective in the future.

That's no excuse.

Shattered_Future 02-14-2007 10:27 AM

Well, come and get me then.

pate 02-14-2007 01:11 PM

No. That's just laziness on your part.

CaptainWaits 02-15-2007 09:56 AM

I bought the Blind Guardian DVD yesterday. EPIC! And a good quality film. Hansi's different than what I expected he'd be like on stage...It's like he's letting the power come to him....
Sometimes taking a break from your favourite band will make you appreciate them even more later on.
Yeah, that's true. I went for almost a year of listening to stricly Iced Earth most of the time, and some other stuff at other times. Then Blind Guardian came into the mix. Yeah, for a few months now, I've been listening to those 2 less then before, (except for binges) and yeah. It is better.

NP Iced Earth - Damien

Magnitude 9 recommendations anyone?

Stormrider 02-16-2007 10:53 AM

What do you guys think of Dark Moor ? I have a bunch of songs, and I'm going to go and get Gates of Obivion.

I like the stuff I've heard from them :)

I'll also be getting Kamelot's Black Haloe, so that will be good.

Stoic 02-16-2007 11:48 AM

Stormrider 02-16-2007 04:57 PM

They're coming to Montreal in August.

pate 02-16-2007 08:06 PM

I hate Dark Moor.

The Black Halo may just be the greatest power metal album ever.

Stormrider 02-16-2007 08:16 PM

Well, I got Dark Moor's Gates of Oblivion. I'll listen to that later on tonight. I'll get Blach Halo either later tonight aswell, or tomorrow. I'm really looking foward to both tbh. I've heard a bit of one song off of Black Halo, and it striked me as really good :)

Deth 02-16-2007 08:42 PM

I love it when female vocals are used like on The Black Halo, not as lead singers but to back up and compliment the lead singer.

The Haunting is one of my favorite power metal songs, or hell, all songs, period.

On top of it, Simone Simons is SO hot.

SO.

VERY.

HOOOOOOOOOOOOOT.

I do think The Black Halo is one of the greatest power metal albums ever. It's also one of the best albums released by an American metal band ever. It's ALSO one of the best albums released, period.

I am going to see them in August.

Stormrider 02-16-2007 11:15 PM

Damn, this album is higly praised. I better not be dissapointed

Meh, judging by what I heard, I doubt I will.

I'm listening to the DArk Moor right now, and I like it. What didn't you like from it Shattered ?

Shadows Within 02-16-2007 11:25 PM
