Man. Gospel. Freaking Gospel. This album is so awesome.

EDIT: But I don't hear any CTTS in it. I hear a little bit of City of Caterpillar though.
I'm glad this album seems to be gaining popularity, on internet forums at least. I find it to be a pretty enjoyable album, although "Golden Dawn" gets a bit tedious.

I'd say this is a good pick for people who like the Mars Volta, but want more metal and less quasi-prog-craziness.

Gospel <3

Zesty Mordant 11-21-2005 06:23 PM

Sunny Day Real Estate- Diary

I've had it for a few years but I never really gave it a chance until a few days ago and I've been listening to it ever since.

Also,
Nas- Illmatic
DEP- Miss Machine
Ween- Quebec (soooooo underrated!)

I'd send but my connection is poo. :o Just hit up soulseek for The Moon Is a Dead World. It's like prog meets punk meets an almost post-rock kind of structure. Or as all music puts it, it bridges the gap between Slint and King Crimson.

Me digging:
Kaada/Patton - Romances
Serena Maneesh - s/t
Joanna Newsom - The Milk-Eyed Mender

Smackers 11-21-2005 06:46 PM

Alva Noto & Ryuichi Sakamoto - Insen
Pineapple Thief - 10 Stories Down
Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds - Murder Ballads (this is my favorite Christmas album)

Luxor 11-21-2005 06:47 PM

Gospel = Psychadelic-indie-hardcore. Or something along those lines.

There are some songs (four, I think, and apparently amongst the better ones on the album) available to play on their site. http://www.themoonisadeadworld.com, I think. Named after the album.

JonM 11-21-2005 06:48 PM

I've been listening to a lot of Alternative but only a little Indie.

I listened to an allmusic sample of "Yr Electric Surge is Sweet" and now I'm hooked. This band sounds awesome!

Thanks for the link Bartender. This is definitely a band I have to dig into. They're like The Fall of Troy with less whining and more \m/

I loooooooove this album. I have to say this.

Anyway, I'm really into Kid A lately. I've heard some people say they don't like a lot of the weird prog stuff, but I like it.

Went on a much needed 'downloading of stuff I haven't heard yet' spree:

Black Sabbath - Paranoid (okay, I've heard most of this before...)
Bob Marley - some best of album (ditto)
Totimoshi - ¿Mysterioso?
Dead Meadow - Shivering King and Others
Sage Francis - A Healthy Distrust
Broken Social Scene - s/t

Eva Cassidy - Songbird
Taj Mahal / Toumani Diabate - Kulanjan
K'naan - The Dusty Foot Philospher

Don't ever pass up the chance of seeing K'naan live. It's divine.

I'm going next week.

My little brother saw the tour in Atlanta last week and met K'naan. He just came out in the crowd after his set, my bro was right up front, he said "What's up," and K'naan said "What's up, brotha?" and gave my little brother a pound infront of everyone. That's how my brother tells the story, anyway.

I'm listening to the Who now. I've had this best of dealy for quite a while now, but I haven't listened to it that much. I'm gonna need to look into picking up some proper albums at some point soon though.

Little Man being Erased 11-22-2005 05:11 PM

Yeah get it. Paul's Boutique is waaaaaaay better.

Bartender 11-22-2005 05:20 PM
