I think Jack made a hat like that! He had a Minor Threat patch on it.

Flagjacket 11-25-2006 12:52 AM

I don't think so I don't trust Jack to do anything besides rack up debts.

Ghostfire3 11-25-2006 03:20 AM

Yeah, I remember that. He did have a Minor Threat patch on that type of hat.

bigblondeafro87 11-25-2006 10:34 AM

I guess just look at how other hats are made, then just adjust the design so you have the earflaps and the flip up thing in the front. To make the hat curved to fit your head you sew together i think 6 football shaped pieces of fabric

Jon 11-25-2006 11:02 AM

yes!

there was something on craftster.

lemme find it.

what fabric do I use to make patches with?

I was gonna get a sheet (say 1m x 1m), screen print a load of my band's logos onto it, cut it up and get a friend to hem the edges with a sewing machine?

I have a russian hat like that. Should I take a picture of the inside for you?

Flagjacket 11-25-2006 01:13 PM

No I really want a hat with like, the exact same type of design as the one I posted. With all three flaps.

Does anyone else find punks discussing arts & crafts amusing?

Flagjacket 11-25-2006 01:20 PM

I'm not a punk.

RIP Ian Curtis 11-25-2006 01:26 PM

Well excuse me all to shi't.

asdf 11-25-2006 01:33 PM

It's a little bit humorous, but I think it's a really good thing. But that's just because I enjoy making my own stuff.

Apparently I get it from my mom. The other day she pulled out this tape rack she made by hand (her dad wouldn't let her use powertools), that she even glued felt into teach of the tape holders. The on each side of this case she has a hand drawn picture of Cat Stevens and Elton John, both of which look like stencils. It's so cool.

Oh I ain't saying its a bad thing, it's just funny when you think about the general publics' assumptions about the subculture. It would be expected that all the threads would be either "Sm@sh teh st@te lolz" or "Drink + Fight + Do Drugs 2 B kool like Sid was"

asdf 11-25-2006 01:55 PM

yeah, I guess. But the general public is often wrong, not just about punk.

DaveToopes 11-25-2006 02:24 PM

DIY is punker than anything else.

Jon 11-25-2006 03:50 PM

DIY is punker than anarchy

DaveToopes 11-25-2006 04:13 PM

I'd say those can go hand in hand.

Danger Bird 11-25-2006 05:00 PM

I don't even listen to punk very much any more.

Jon 11-25-2006 07:03 PM

I'm freehanding a rose onto the back of my jacket with a half-working tippex.

Given the fact that I can't draw..

Jon 11-25-2006 08:30 PM

yeah I'm quite proud of myself considering I cannot draw for love nor amphetamines

Ronald McRaygun 11-25-2006 08:52 PM

anyone got any ideas for patching up a hole on the side on my chucks?

Spikey 11-25-2006 09:11 PM

i always used electric tape, and then it didn't stay, so i moved to duct tape and it worked for a while. i think eventually if they are tearing you will just have to get a new pair, that's what i had to do anyway. or you could find old scraps of fabric that your mom has lying around and trying to sew it. you'd probably want quilting thread and needle to get through the canvas.

my ?: i learned to sew this summer and so far i have a sort of cute skirt, and am making a really adorable dress. anyone know how to make their own fabric, though? i mean like the design on it. also, anyone know about pattern making?

Ronald McRaygun 11-25-2006 09:58 PM

thanks. i was thinking of using fabric but i want to put something on it, I just dont know what yet.
