Oh. We're recording for free because I have connections. Is the recording quality for your music legit?
woah cool

the quality is mediocre i guess, probably what is expected of a homemade demo

SunnyDayRealEstateAM 03-12-2006 02:53 PM

Oh. I would like to hear your music once you post it online or something.

Matt? 03-12-2006 02:54 PM

yea i just gotta find a chord that would fit into the direct input thing of my computer :-/
Is it just you? My band played its first show on friday. It went really good. We made $538.
Biggest WHAT THE **** ever. Why did you get paid and why did you take it? What kind of venue did you play?

Brain Toad 03-12-2006 03:00 PM
Wow, they had Neil Perry? That's pretty sweet. In Philly I saw a His Hero Is Gone record, but, I don't have a record player...so...yeah.
I bought a couple of my vinyls when I had a broken record player. Was very satisfying to finally listen to them.

What do you mean why did we get paid and why did we take it? Its a local venue.

tornpictures 03-12-2006 03:16 PM

What I meant is is it a DIY venue? A club? Where do they get the money to pay a band (a HARDCORE band playing their first show.. I assume it's ahardcore band or at least a band with a hardcore DIY attitude) 500 something dollars?

deadohiosky9 03-12-2006 03:22 PM

yeah that is seriously ridiculous. did you guys play that show with intentions of making money?

RetiredAt21 03-12-2006 03:24 PM
yeah that is seriously ridiculous. did you guys play that show with intentions of making money?
If not, that's quite a pleasent surprise.

deadohiosky9 03-12-2006 03:30 PM

yeah it is quite a pleasant surprise, but if they are a hardcore/punk band with DIY ethics then its really not cool to play a show for money. and what kind of venue has 500 dollars to give to a band? what the hell??

Wow 03-12-2006 03:32 PM

My friends band made $1000+ every show they played due to how many people they brought and how much money they made for the venue.
My friends band made $1000+ every show they played due to how many people they brought and how much money they made for the venue.
Holy s'hit, that's nuts.

Matt? 03-12-2006 03:35 PM

that's a lot of people or really expensive tickets

StandingStill 03-12-2006 03:36 PM

If my band covers petrol money its a success. I guess we need to go to America.

deadohiosky9 03-12-2006 03:37 PM

hahaha, most bands here are happy to get paid gas money too. even the popular level-plane bands don't get paid that much.

Matt? 03-12-2006 03:45 PM

hell i think i'd have trouble taking that much money

cbmartinez 03-12-2006 05:29 PM

Yeah seriously, rich ass cali fuckers. Most of the shows my band plays are benefit shows and the one time we did get paid, it was $12. Not each, $12 collectively. 500 dollars for three songs? What the fuck is that. I make that much working for 3-4 weeks. Play another show like that and you can be buying a fucking half stack.

kingdead 03-12-2006 05:32 PM

Ampere next week according to this handwritten piece of **** flyer. Tight.

Who are Sinaloa?

cbmartinez 03-12-2006 05:34 PM

Really good band.

deadohiosky9 03-12-2006 05:35 PM

yeah sinaloa own, and their split lp with ampere is available from Ebullition as of today.

cbmartinez 03-12-2006 05:40 PM

Whoa, I want.

Matt? 03-12-2006 05:41 PM

piano in emo is really cool

i wish i was better and more knowledgable at piano playing

deadohiosky9 03-12-2006 07:43 PM

i play a lot of piano, just messing around though. i don't care much for form/technique, i just f.ucking play. its a lot of fun.

SunnyDayRealEstateAM 03-12-2006 08:14 PM

I mistated what I said. I'm sorry I should have been clearer. We sold $535 worth of tickets. The venue pays each band according to how many tickets they sell and how many people show up for them. The venue then takes $200 out of what you made. So we made ourselves $335. Its still pretty good for a band's first show. Its a small venue. About 3/4 or so the size of Chain Reaction. We had more people come out for us than for any other band that played with us that night. And we played with the biggest/most popular band in the city/area. Once again I'm sorry for causing the confusion.

cbmartinez 03-12-2006 09:11 PM

That's still weak as hell.

SunnyDayRealEstateAM 03-12-2006 11:06 PM

We're gonna bring a lot more people to our next show. We just need to get our butts in the studio.

SunnyDayRealEstateAM 03-12-2006 11:14 PM

Thanks. I know how you feel just that my situation was easier. In my band everyone else goes to a different school than me and 3 of the guys live in other cities. It some ways its an adantage. But it also makes things harder with rides and such. I'm just really happy right now.

SunnyDayRealEstateAM 03-12-2006 11:29 PM

I've known 4 members of the band for less than 1 moth and a half.

RetiredAt21 03-13-2006 10:35 AM

Hahahaha, I bet that sounds real interesting.
