My tool wallpaper is lame. :-/ EDIT: Just find it in your photos folder. Or, copy paste the file into a ZIP. That might work. I doubt it will, but it sounds logical. I'd heart you forever. |
Mines just that lateralus logo from the lateralus site. I think its cool, though it is a bit plain.

My soundlclick. Tell me what you guys think of the one titled 'I'm in a hurry blah blah blah.' I just recorded it right now. I like how it's sounding so far. It's just a couple riffs thrown together into a minute song. I'm gonna expand on it once I have more ideas, but I just wanted to record it so I didn't forget it. It sounds slighty Jones-ish*.
slightly jones-ish=Probably not Jones-ish at all, but I am obsessed with his playing, so I wanna sound like him. :-/ I posted it here because you guys are into good music. (Obviously, since this is the Tool thread.) |
Anyone thinking fleetwood mack - the chain?
Would be cool to develop it, but make it less like the chain :) |

The other one is good as well. Are you still using your PC mic for recording? Because the quality isn't bad at all. |
I liked it, but I saw nothing Jones-ish there... Though I did think it was pretty cool man. Good job.

Any of you guys entering the Progressive Metal competition?
You should :thumb: |

Please hit me up again, I might be reconsidering your offer. Thanks. |
In The Grudge, I'm sure what you've all said about Saturn coming around every 27-30 years or so.
The Scarlet Letterman line, well when I first heard it I immediately thought of Nathaniel Hawthorne's The Scarlet Letter. Like someone already said, the main character has to stich the letter A (Adultery) into her blouses and always has to wear it to show everyone she was an adulteress. Her husband married her because she was young and beautiful but he didn't really love her. So when she moved to a Puritan settlement in New England and he stayed in England, she had an affair with a minister named Dimsdale. The whole settlement looks down on her (Unable to forgive her) and wants to take her baby away. So out of that I got: Someone who did something wrong and someone else holds a grudge against them for it. The cornerstone thing, a cornerstone (literally) is the basic foundation block of a building. But in this case it most likely means a basic principle or ideal. The song doesn't say Clutch the cornerstone, it says Clutch IT like a cornerstone, meaning-Hold onto this (possibly the grudge that you bear) like it's the most important thing you have. At least that's what I got out of it. |

I think it has more Daron Malakian influence than anything. Glad you guys like it. Rob-Never heard the song, but I don't mind Fleetwood Mac. :p |

/pwned On the topic of the grudge, the theory you guys are coming up with the 27 years and Saturn etc. seems to be making sense. Keep it up  |

Sorry, guys. I can't seem to take a screen shot without having my icons on. I don't know how I can send you the wallpaper without finding the site (which I can't find).
But yeah, props to whomever made it, because it's great artwork. |
Ben, I know you've been curious about Team Sleep, and I'm not sure if you've bought their album yet or not. All I can say is that it's pretty average, and close to what I expected. The production on it is terrible, but the songs range from great to bad and everywhere in between. The drumming is awful, but it's just not my style.
I just got back from seeing Team Sleep live, and it was an okay performance. Chino basically drives the band, and, at the risk of sounding like a Chino fanboy (which I'm not), he's really the only reason I enjoyed the show. Overall it was too noisy, the light-show aspect was nonexistent, and the drummer was annoying. I must say I spent the majority of the show yearning for Chino to rip off his guitar and the rest of Deftones to file onto the stage. I know you've criticized Chino's voice in the past, but really it was right on the entire night. His singing was great, and probably the best aspect of Team Sleep's live show. His vocals are great live. Perhaps he's improved significantly since you've seen him, or maybe he sounds better in smaller venues, but this makes three for three great vocal performances that I've seen from him. |
^^ Thanks for the info Kage, ill still make sure I check them out at Donny (they clash with Slipknot and Lacuna Coil...big loss), and ill see what I make of them. Ill reserve buying an album though, I hate crap production more than anything.
Chino sounds awesome at Donny (first time i saw Deftones, 2003, before thier shocking Wembley gig), so I hope he keeps it up.
Any of you guys entering the Progressive Metal competition? You should :thumb:
Im working on a track, but im still struggling with lack of recording equipment. I might have to conceeded and go line in, but im not sure what that means im buying. (plus drums are a nightmare to me) |

I do recommend that you see them when you get the chance, because it is an enjoyable show. I guess they're playing at Download (?) when you'll see them, so I'm assuming they won't have the same opening band, but they were great. It was forty minutes of instrumental improvs that were very atmospheric and ambient. I liked their set a lot, but unforunately it's a very new and unknown band, and I haven't been able to track down any of their material or info on them. |
I like team sleep's album :( it's exactly what i wanted. An elaboration on teenager from white pony. I think the drumming is pretty cool in places...but i think they use a drum machine sometimes  I use the album to sleep/read to most of the time...I'd give it 7.5/10
Not many albums score high in my book Aenima, Lateralus, Kid A, Thirteenth Step, Toxicity and Break the Cycle..are the only albums that have ever got 9/10 or more...so yeha i like Team sleeps album :) Not sure i would enjoy them live though. NP : Deftones - S/T (not as bad as people say so far) New audioslave album is so sucky i had tot urn it off halfway through :( A poor mans chilli peppers in my opinon...thoughts? |

To me, it sounds messy or something. I can tell the sound they're going for, and it seems to come short of the mark. I heard Kool-Aid Party (a song that isn't on the album) and it was just this crazy, unique, trippy song and I wish there were more things like that. I love Tomb of Leige (sp?), Your Skull Is Red, and Blvd Knights. I give it a 6.5/10. And I love S/T Deftones. It's tied with ATF for my favorite from them. I was listening to that today as well. |

Most people who have listened said its not that bad at all. I've only heard the singles and other clips of other songs but I thought it sounded pretty good... Oh well, I'm still buying it next week. |
Yeah don't let me put you off or anything. It just dissapointed me slightly, the solos sounded out of place and stuff.
I am <3'ing Gary numan's pure album and some portishead/massive attack stuff. Aswell as some fall out boy  |
fall out boy
 I've been listening to alot of Prodigy lately myself. |
I'm on a Helloween high. Such good stuff.

^ Cool site, thanks.

I found White Pony to be not as great as I expected. Minerva is VERY cool song though. The intro sounds just like a little riff I wrote before I heard the song.
I hate when that happens. You write a cool whatever, but you find out later that your idea has been taken. It also happened to me when I came up with the concept of glow in the dark toilet seats. :( To guy with huge avatar-The link is broke. I got you covered though http://www.toolpantheon.com On mx, you need to plug http:// in front of urls or it won't link correctly. Now, tell me where you got your huge avatar. :p |
