Lol, Vintersorg folk black? Debatable mate. Same with Isengard. Previous members of Dark Throne wouldn't really make that kind of music.

About Falkenbach - Im afraid i see now Black Metal in them.

Real Ambient Black - Drudkh, Hate Forest, Empriums Armistice, early Agalloch.
Hate Forest is straight up Black with some wierd Ukranian folk songs sometimes, but if Falkenbach or Isengard aren't folk black then Hate Forest and Drudkh aren't either.
And those aren't ambient black. Ambient Black=Velvet Caccoon, Lurker of Chalice, Abruptum, etc.

Silenius 01-05-2006 05:47 PM

Forgot to mention:

Rivendell
Nachtfalke
Lord Wind

Arucard 01-05-2006 05:48 PM

Pssh, Falkenbach do not have much BM influence! 'Heathen Foray' by Falkenbach is very similar to Vintersorg, and although it has the droning riffing element, i see no other BM influence.

Shadows 01-05-2006 05:48 PM

What the hell is wrong with you lately?

I'm Charming 01-05-2006 05:49 PM
Sorry to keep this going, but Synsyter could pull off anything that Alexi does on the albums with ease, and hes younger than him. Listen to the solo in 'TBATH' for proff.

Also The Reverend > Jaska.
a7x is good... But you can't compare them to one of the most original and skilled bands around... CoB created the finnish power metal sound.

a7x while good sounds like countless other bands.

Alexi is a far more accomplished guitarist then any wanna-be metalcore guitarist.

and...

Jaska> "the reverend"

This is a constructive argument, i'm not flaming.

And i guess i just got bored of the forums for some reason.

Silenius : I admire your knowledge, but it seems that we are into entirely different ends of the ambient BM spectrum.

But i'm sure we can both agree that Borknagar > all?

I never said they weren't folk, my exact words were 'I don't see the Black Metal in them.'

Man Made : Name one band that Avenged Sevenfold sound like. Please. I dare you.

Actually I like the bands that you listed, I just didn't think of them as being Black Ambient.

I can agree that Borknagar is good but they're not my style, though I should like them since I like Vintersorg.

I'm Charming 01-05-2006 05:53 PM

What does ambient black metal have to do with CoB...

This fool needs to leave this thread...

Why? It's just an argument that originated from CoB discussion...

Atreyu
They sound awfully alike... and Atreyu stole that In Flames riff.

Arucard 01-05-2006 05:59 PM

What does you not answering my question have to do with me giving you no musical credibilty?

Pretty obvious really. I provide constructive criticism most of the time for bands, and now i'm having a conversation about BM with someone.

Silenius : Folk and Ambient metals are two things that leave a little to your imagination. I see Drudkh and Hate Forest as both of these because of their Ukranian heritage, and their semming unending devotion to nature and the circle of life. If 'Wind Of The Night Forests' isn't ambient as hell, i don't know what is.

They don't sound like Atreyu atall. The vocal style is heavier, the guitars are heavier and more original, and the writing style is completly different.

Anyway, sorry about starting a pointless argument, i am always open to talking about Ambient BM though :)

I looked on Amazon for bands that sound similar to CoB, and one of them was Catamenia, I got their Winternight Tragedies album, pretty sick. What do you guys think of them?

Good stuff.

I have Chaos Born, Halls of Frozen North, and Morning Crimson. Lost in Bitterness is a savage song.

IheartSP 01-05-2006 06:13 PM

Although your manner has calmed down Arugard I still don't appreciate you coming in here solely for the purpose of trying to be an elitist, and making arguments out of thin air just so you can win them.

Weren't you the n00b who came in here bashing CoB, but unlike other dumb n00bs you didn't hail nu metal>all?

Bodom Beach Terror, Chokehold, Sixpounder, Triple Corpse Hammerblow, Angels don't kill, Needled 24/7(as whored as it is) if I felt nice... Your Better Off Dead...

Little Blood Red Ridin Hood and Hate Crew Deathroll are not the best....

My favorite= Chokehold

Apocalyptic Raids 01-06-2006 12:55 AM

That's a nice avatar there, i am hated.

MRDuCran 01-06-2006 12:59 AM

Thanks to me.

IheartSP 01-06-2006 05:19 AM

My favorites are Triple Corpse Hammerblow, Chokehold, and Needled 24/7. Triple Corpse is the only one with any kind of remeniscence of neoclassical they have left, it makes me feel like I'm listening more to Hatebreeder a bit.

Biancazzurri 01-06-2006 05:24 AM

i heard cob cover of oops i did it again... funny song..

King_Of_Terrors 01-06-2006 07:06 AM

Yeah that is a funny cover...

I don't like Needled 24/7 at all. I just don't find it interesting.

repcak 01-06-2006 07:07 AM

the first song i heard from CoB was Needled 24/7 and its still my favourite song.

What is your favourite song from "Are You Dead, Yet?"??
mine is "if you want peace ... prepare for war" -> the solo is fantastic and the riff great :D

second best song: Next in Line

King_Of_Terrors 01-06-2006 07:24 AM

I like In Your Face the most, from what I have heard.

That's my favourite track from there as well, also the first Bodom album I got. I've recently got Tokyo Warhearts and Hatecrew Deathroll as well! Thank god I found them :)
