Whilst somewhat on the subject of Megadeth vs Metallica, I got the latest issue of Total Guitar magazine today and it has an article on the whole 'Tallica vs 'Deth. Some of its not very thought out and I wonder how much of a 'Deth and 'tallica fan the writer was, for example, I've never heard of a Megadeth album called [i]Countdown To Distinction[/i]...

So who "won"?

I saw them in San Bernidino (sp?) on Sunday and it blew my mind.


Opeth did a great show; songs included Ghost of Perdition, The Leper Affinity, and Damnation. Oh and Akerfeldt mentioned having a love affair with Gene Hoglan. Strange.

Arch Enemy didn't do too bad, however I sat through most of their set.
They played a couple of my favs. which were: We Will Rise, and The Dead Bury Their Dead.

Lamb of God did like a 1 to 1 and a half hour set. Songs included stuff off the new album (what band doesn't?) Laid to Rest, Now You've Got Something To Die For, part of Ashes of the Wake, Black Label, etc. A pretty damn good set IMO.

Megadeth was the best damn band of the night. They played the same stuff that butcher posted, and the pyrotechnics were badass and f**king LOUD.

Washington is next was a really good song. Dave is demonstrating that he can really sing, plus the dual lead guitar work of Dave and Glen is just sick.

Dave is so awesome.

Very, very intelligent man, you see alot of metal musicians go on TV and look out of their depths when questions are being asked, but he knows how to deal with it.

I've been a fan of Megadeth for a few years now, but more in the sense I had a dozen or so songs that i knew inside out, and then crapload others either by name or sound only.

So today I downloaded a few full albums and came to the conclusion Megadeth really really do pwn hard; they [well, dave mainly] are consistent and excellent players and writers, more so that I ever gave them credit for.

What albums?

Well, all of them tbh.

I still haven't heard the albums in between [I]Rust In Peace[/I] and [I]The World Needs A Hero[/I].

[I]Rust In Peace[/I] is probably my favourite Metal album ever, though.

You haven't heard [I]Countdown to Extinction[/I] and [I]Youthanasia[/I]? I love those.

Yeah, RIP and those two are my favourite Megadeth albums.

Rust In Peace is superb, one of the best Metal albums of all time.

I'm not big on RIP. My favorites are PSBWB, Youthanasia, SFSGSW, and KIMB.

I'm big on everything Megadeth has done till Youthanasia.

Personally I love Youthanasia. I know most consider that their "sell-out" album, but despite its change to a more radio friendly style I think it was really well done. I never tire of listening to it.

It's a really great album. Lately, TSHF has grown on me a lot.
