It's a Pantera thread, not so much a RIP DIMEBAG thread.
Its a little of both.

Freezing Moon 12-11-2005 07:23 PM

Please, please, please make everybody combine their mailing list threads, or just put a stop to all of the new ones that are popping up. There doesn't need to be one for every single genre.

It seems to me like the Daily Upload is the most popular, so I think everyone could just do their writeup and have it sent out in that. There are ridiculous amounts of them right now.

I would much rather have a page full of Mini F-A's than a page full of mailing lists. Maybe the screenshot idea can bring them back or something.

Shadows 12-11-2005 07:25 PM

Make some kind of subsections within the Daily Upload. Each ection could have a label of who's uplaod it is and what the link is for.

That would be more work. I think the Daily Upload is fine the way it is.

Nostalgia 12-11-2005 08:10 PM

Okay here are some of my ideas on things to change.

Official threads: Delete the thread, then start a fresh one after a couple months so fresher posts can be made, and it will encourage other people to join in on the threads.

mailing lists: Combine all threads into one, or you could get rid of all of them (with the exception on the daily upload) to be honest we do not need all of them. They fill up peoples in boxes and never end up listening to them.

People are getting the idea that we need a mailing list for every genre, I think the only true need for a mailing list is to show support in the upcoming of newer bands or bands that do not get respect on these forums.

These are just my ideas.

Kingofdudes 12-11-2005 08:14 PM

Dont delete the band threads. We started the Pink Floyd thread over and the same people are posting. Besides, how does having less posts make the thread "fresher"?

If anything some people in here need to stop being Nazis about everything not being in the right thread.

comptonassrobert 12-11-2005 08:24 PM

I agree with Kingofdudes.

The only thing I'd change is the mailing lists, I don't think they should stop, I just think that they should be put into one thread somehow, or something like that to free up a bit more space.

Because the mailing lists and Official band threads take up just about the whole 1st and 2nd page.

Nostalgia 12-11-2005 08:27 PM

Because, when threads get backed up like that, it's gets annoying seeing the same threads on the first page every time. If I have been gone for a week and then go back on the same threads will be their, with the exception of one or two.

If we deleted the band threads then started them over it wouldn't be so annoying seeing them all the time.

I agree people make to big of deal on the rules, this should be a democracy, not a dictatorship.

King_Of_Terrors 12-11-2005 08:32 PM

Why is everone saying that the mailing lists take up the whole front page! I'm going to go check it right now, you just wait.

There are three.

The first page holds 29 threads. Come on.

Nostalgia 12-11-2005 08:43 PM

That's only right now, if their haven't been a lot of posts they flood up the first page. Most people don't even listen to them, they just sit their and rot in peoples mailing lists. It's fine what people are trying to do but they are not really needed. Atleast make one big thread for them all.

comptonassrobert 12-11-2005 08:46 PM

Well I listen to all the albums I get sent, or else I woulnd't've signed up for them.

There's only 5 mailing lists. And like I said, the first page hold's 29. Minus the stickies, theres still room for 20 threads. It's not bad.

Good for you, what about all the other hundred people that don't, it's great that you listen to the music that you sign up for

They're not necessary, and nobody needs their e-mail flooded with five e-mails each containing at least one album and usually more than three.

In any case, there doesn't need to be one for each genre.

I would support them MUCH more if 3-5 songs were sent out for each album, instead of the whole thing. Even if they end up downloading it later, it's better than flooding everyone with 15 albums per day.

Personally I would listen to much more of this stuff if there were a couple of recommended tracks so I could decide if I liked the band or not without feeling like I need to get to know the album.

Meh, I get what your saying. I don't even add people to my list if they don't post a comment with their email, and I take people off who never post afterward.

This doesn't really belong in R&M.

3074326 12-12-2005 12:13 AM

Here's my take on the situation.

I remember way back when PimpDaddyKabz, NachoChez, and iamsuperdan were mods in here. There weren't any Official threads, and the forum was great. It wasn't really a problem if two threads about the same band were made in the same week. :)

I liked those days.

Jom, I don't trust your links anymore.

Just kidding!

King_Of_Terrors 12-12-2005 06:58 AM

I posted this ealier, but I don't see the post anymore. Could I possibly get the Featured Genre stickied? Thanks.

i am the robots 12-12-2005 12:40 PM

I should have checked first, but is it alright if I try to do this:

http://www.musicianforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=422892

if not, close it.

3074326 12-12-2005 06:09 PM

I don't have a problem with it.

the2stranger 12-13-2005 06:20 AM

are thread subsriptions and the repping system still down?

and if so, when wil this be fixed?
thanks you :)

Guess a warning would do...it's just getting annoying and stupid.

King_Of_Terrors 12-13-2005 10:49 AM

Well the guy he is picking on is called "I am hated"

Deconstruction 12-13-2005 02:19 PM

Hey mods, you (or I) make a thread that has all the mailing lists in one. Like the important threads kind of thing only with mailing list, so it isnt so cluttered?
I think this would be helpful and more organized.
(It should probably be stickied if this happens)

Nostalgia 12-13-2005 02:21 PM

We have been discussing that for a while, it will most likely get done if we keep getting as much complaints as we are now.

Deconstruction 12-13-2005 02:23 PM
We have been discussing that for a while, it will most likely get done if we keep getting as much complaints as we are now.
Okay, I am thinking of doing a compilation mailing list but it might be more exclusive seeing as there are so many now and I might do invite only....but that idea could be stupid.

King_Of_Terrors 12-13-2005 02:29 PM

I serioulsly still do not understand what is bad about SIX of them. There is plenty of room you guys.

Well, I just dont want a bunch of people who wont listen to use up the links thats all.

King_Of_Terrors 12-13-2005 02:35 PM

Thats true. However, it would be pretty complicated. I have an idea, you will see it in a few minutes!

If someone wants to make a single Mailing List thread, it's fine with me. I'm not sure if the other mods have commented on it or not, but I personally feel that it's a good idea.

I'm sure there will be more Mailing Lists in the future.. so we might as well save room.

Jom 12-13-2005 06:03 PM

I dunno, eight stickies would be a bit much - maybe it could be edited into the rules when it takes full swing.

It should. I'm going to be up for awhile studying and all that, so if I see it fall I'll bump it; if necessary, I'll give it a last bump before I go to bed.
