Lord A: Nice to see "piece of piss" used. It makes no sense at all but I use it quite frequently.
cheers, It's one of my favourite phrases  band practice today too... my guitarists can actually play the trooper :amaze: hooray... now whether I can sing it is another matter |
I need a band. Me and ATM jammed with his drummer pal when I was up there for the PT concert and it really made me want to get something together. Backing tracks can only give a limited amount of gratification...
|
yeah... it's taken me four years at this school to find a band that will play decent music...
the band I drummed for played HIM and muse... I was ashamed |

the band I drummed for played HIM and muse... I was ashamed
 , oh the shame... The problem is the scene here is worthless, all hiphop and rap. I'm quite sure that I'm the only metalhead in a 100 mile radius. But, I think I'm going to start throwing ads up in the music stores here and see what kind of results I get. Talent is really of no concern, as I am just looking for a jam band and am not a great player myself. I just want people who like the same music and want to get together and throw some shit down. |
I want to get a demo recorded of the songs I have written in the next couple of years
it's imortant that I stick with this band because I can't write music, I don't know one end of a guitar from the other never mind what you play to make what sound lyrics... fine we are doing covers at the school's "rock night" (don't laugh) and we are easily going to be the heaviest band there... nearest to heavy is the nearly metallica- only covers band that usually headline drummer is excited about it because his brother drums for them so he wants, of course, to outdo his brother in the heaviness stakes... |
Are you the singer for your current band? And also, what covers are you planning for the rock night to put the others to shame?
|
What kind of metal do you play?
|
To all that stuff going on a page or so ago; I don't like Coldplay either. Listen to North instead!
|

Hey, sorry, just after I posted that I went off to find out why my flatmate didn't get back here from home last night. He said he'd show me the reason (two of them, in fact). I was expecting a couple of broken limbs or something, but it turned out that his brother had brought his two cats around, and, being drunk, they watched them play-wrestle until about three in the morning. Anyway, not much new with me. I've spent the last week or so doing various essays (including two last night, and both awful ones at that). After my Samurai exam in a couple of hours though, I've got nothing else until next Wednesday, so I'm looking forward to the break. I'm kind of nervous about these essays though. If I fail them, then I fail the year as a whole and can't come back in September, and I don't really want that. I wouldn't mind (so much, anyway) not being allowed to come back because I'd failed a philosophy module, because then, fair enough, I'm crap at the subject I'm trying to do. It'd really suck to be kicked out of philosophy because of some elective module, though. Other than that, I'm just planning exactly how (i.e. on which albums) to spend my money over the summer, and that's about it. I also might be going home this weekend to see someone perform live at my local music centre. How about you? |

I bid you well with your essays and exams....watching cats wrestling. Not too much here. Me and ATM went to the Porcupine Tree concert on Friday night which was spectacular. Then we jammed out for a while on Saturday. And as usual I'm counting the minutes to get off work and go play some guitar. I'm really challenging myself this time and doing a For Whom The Bell Tolls cover  . |
Are you the singer for your current band? And also, what covers are you planning for the rock night to put the others to shame?
Iron maiden- the trooper cradle of filth- her ghost in the fog Megadeth- Hangar 18 cannibal corpse- hammer smashed face stuff I want to play- Iced earth- burning times cannibal corpse- skull full of maggots cradle of filth- lord abortion iron maiden- hallowed be thy name mayhem- freezing moon by then I want music to my lyrics I have written... |

I bought a load of stuff off amazon yesterday...
blind gaurdian- imaginations from the other side, nightfall in middle earth, a night at the opera cannibal corpse- tomb of the mutilated death- scream bloody gore hurry up royal mail is what I say |
Iron maiden- the trooper
cradle of filth- her ghost in the fog Megadeth- Hangar 18 cannibal corpse- hammer smashed face
I gather two things from this set list. Your guitarist (and band for that matter) is very good, and your vocal skills are very diverse... |
Here is my setlist, and yes, we play the Trooper too.
Master of Puppets - Metallica Savior, Saint, Salvation - Bleeding Through (it's a little out of place, but our version of it sounds really cool.) Diary - Iced Earth The Trooper - Iron Maiden One - Metallica Fade to Black - Metallica soon we will be adding "Bodom Beach Terror" by Children of Bodom onto our setlist. I love that song. Make comments about my setlist if you want to. |
It would be like way TOO cool if my band could play that^^ at a school music night.
|
I agree. I post on a forum with an 100 by 100 avatar size limit as well as this now. Everything looks so big!

I thank you but the bodom version of the trooper is closer to my voice than bruce in maiden  I really want to add longer songs (and burning times) to the set- hallowed be thy name and A question of heaven for preference- but due to the aformentioned time constraints we will probably end up sutting the hardest song from the set anyway (which at the moment looks like maybe hangar 18 due to guitaristry issues) and metal head, diary= \m/  \m/ |

So, good morning thread. I had a pretty good weekend. Went to a friend's bar-b-q on Saturday and had me some Carne Asada. The guy that played Uncle Rico in the most horrible movie ever made, Napoleon Dynamite, was there; the guy who put on the bar-b-q's wife is "Uncle Rico's" cousin. So yeah, it was interesting. Good food, greater beer (I snuck one or two :) ). NP: Steve Miller Band-The Joker |
So much for saving your money then? :p
I think spending all my money on lots of music throughout the summer is what I was saving for, so..kind of :) Update since I last posted here; - Handed in my two Jesus essays (with considerable bother; it took ages) - Attended my Samurai exam; panicked momentarily when I thought I couldn't do any of the questions, but kinda pieced together enough information on one of them to write a decent essay. I hope the lecturer likes attempted humour in essays though - I kind of made a joke (about him :-/) in it. - Watched Countdown  Greetings, all. |
I seem to remember you saying you had to save money for holidays and such.
Though I could be mistaken. |
Ah no, you're probably right. I would've meant saving money to take away and buy things on holiday with though, rather than to actually pay for the holiday.
|
That sounds like a much better plan altogether.
I don't think I can afford to spend anymore money, but I don't think I'll let that stop me  |
Bartender, I'm not sure if you got my message in the other thread, but it was something like this:
Bartender, you didn't have to go out of your way to log into Sputnik, that site you don't care for that much, and post in that review... but it was a very kind gesture on your part. Thanks.
By the way, I was looking at the total posts in this thread, and you will be claiming the #3 spot soon, and deservedly so... it'd make since for you to be in the same spot you were in the old thread, but that seems impossible currently :p /// Has anyone seen Bobo around? :( He must be playing Guild Wars or whatever game it was that he recently purchased. Or is busy with work and whatnot. He was the one that brought me back here to begin with. EDIT to munky's below post: That's too bad. I've been waiting to wish the man a happy birthday (well, much belated, now) since it rolled around, but I haven't seen him around :-\ |
