I hate watching movies in french because we have to watch it in french with subtitles.
Ever try watching one without the subtitles? We had to watch a Cyranno de Bergeruac movie in french, no subtitles. I had no idea what the **** was going on. There was just a guy with a huge nose.

DaveToopes 04-08-2006 07:31 PM

It's so worth it when you watch a great movie with subtitles though, like Motorcycle Diaries or City of God.

When we watch movies in German with German subtitles, I can never tell what's going on, and the people never say what the subtitles say. We're watching Lord of the Rings right now, and at least we have English subtitles.

sketchyjoe 04-08-2006 07:34 PM

Subtitles > Dubbing

AIRIC 04-08-2006 07:35 PM

Yeah we have it playing in French with English subtitles.

Brain Toad 04-08-2006 07:35 PM

We watched some good movies in french, like Amelie. And bad ones like that Disney movie about a horse.

Shtein 04-08-2006 07:35 PM

I've seen Lord of the Rings so many times I don't really need subtitles.
My science teacher in 8th grade had us watch 5 minutes of a movie every day. We got through Napoleon Dynamite and The Incredibles.
<3 The Incredibles.

Liebensaft 04-08-2006 07:36 PM

My teacher has a thing for Pirates of the Caribbean. I've seen it in German about 5 times.

We watched a movie on the Holocaust made in '51 in all French for about 45 minutes in Global. That was awful.

obese_breasts 04-08-2006 07:39 PM

Daggermouth kickass.

I watched City of God again last night. That's such an amazing film.
We watched a movie on the Holocaust made in '51 in all French for about 45 minutes in Global. That was awful.
It was about the holocaust. What did you expect it to be? Cream cakes and dancing?

Brain Toad 04-08-2006 07:40 PM

We had to watch too many slavery/civil rights movements movies in US History, it pissed me off.

But we did get to watch Pearl Harbor and part of The Patriot.

Shtein 04-08-2006 07:41 PM

Mel Gibson and Heath Ledger were brilliant in that movie.

EDIT: and Jason Isaacs

sketchyjoe 04-08-2006 07:43 PM

I miss you more than Michael Bay missed the mark,
When he made Pearl Harbor.
I miss you more then that movie missed the point,
And that's an awful lot girl.
And now, now you've gone away,
And all I'm trying to say,
Is Pearl Harbor sucked and I miss you

I need you like Ben Affleck needs acting school,
He was terrible in that film.
I need you like Cuba Gooding needed a bigger part,
He's way better then Ben Affleck.
And now all I can think about is your smile,
And that shitty movie too,
Perl Harbor sucked and I miss you

Why does Michael Bay get to keep on making movies.
I guess Pearl Harbor sucked,
Just a little bit more then I miss you.

Danger Bird 04-08-2006 07:43 PM

Hey, Nick, I'm trying to talk to you on slsk, can you get on real quick?

Brain Toad 04-08-2006 07:47 PM

I saw Pearl Harbor on a whime when it was out in the theaters with some friends. I ended up really liking it despite my hate of Ben Affleck. I think it was the first PG-13 movie I had ever seen in the theaters.

Then again, with the rarity I see movies in the theaters, I have never seen an R movie I don't think.

DaveToopes 04-08-2006 07:47 PM

Pearl Harbor was awful.

sketchyjoe 04-08-2006 07:48 PM

My mouse hates me.

Ghostfire3 04-08-2006 07:51 PM

I remember when Napoleon Dynamite came out and everyone would quote that movie nonstop. It was awful.

No I wanted English.

Brain Toad 04-08-2006 07:53 PM

I think I may download another movie tonight so I have something to do tomorrow.

Danger Bird 04-08-2006 07:54 PM

Nick, could you add me to your slsk list?

Brain Toad 04-08-2006 07:56 PM

No I can't

Good god, Team America was so great.

Shtein 04-08-2006 07:59 PM

I never saw that movie yet, but I just finished watching the South Park Scientology episode, crazy funny.

Watch out, Tom Cruise will sue you!

TakeWarning 04-08-2006 08:03 PM

Pearl Harbour did suck an awful lot.

Napoleon Dynamite was worse though.

ibanezman575 04-08-2006 08:23 PM

they both suck

Danger Bird 04-08-2006 08:55 PM
No I can't
Can I ask why?
