That breaks my heart
Why would it do that, acutally I'm not too sure whether they did, maybe the song is an instrumental?

Chu 09-09-2006 07:36 AM

I love instrumentals. There's no such thing as a bad instrumental imo...

Partly because what can make a song bad sometimes is the vocals, and instrumentals are usually a time for the band to show off :D

In the guitar forum, I believe Po0sh (sp?) went to Gigantour and witnessed Washington's Next firsthand, he said that Drover's solo was just shred, I ****en love that :D

eug008 09-09-2006 07:43 AM

, not a fan of just shred but what the heck, I'll record it for you guys when G2 comes down here.

Nepenthe 09-09-2006 12:21 PM

In My Darkest Hour and Hook In Mouth are praise worthy too. Liar is cool just for the Dave Mustaine rap.

playguitar 09-09-2006 01:22 PM
The only track I don't really like much on SFSGSW is Liar. The rest range from amazing to damn good.
502? Ugh, that song and Anarchy are just terrible duds to me, especially 502. It's just so...lame. And Liar is good for the music, and they lyrics are pretty funny. Everybody hear Megadeth played Take No Prisoners last night in Oakland? I was supposed to go, buy my drummer bailed on me for a ride, and my car is in the goddamn shop.

Bazarov 09-09-2006 01:34 PM

I'm seeing Megadeth tonight. YES! I heard that they might be playing Take No Prisoners as an instrumental? I want the words dammit, if they play it at all.

playguitar 09-09-2006 01:37 PM

They did last night, he only sung the last couple "TAKE NO PRISONERS...TAKE NO SHIT!"

Bazarov 09-09-2006 01:47 PM

Hm.. well that song has quite a bit of riffs, so what ever, it'll make a cool instrumental.

What are your orders mein Fuhrer?

Bazarov 09-09-2006 02:17 PM

Kill some chavs and your local poseurs. Force them to listen to Slayer and Megadeth as well.

NP: Megadeth - In My Darkest Hour

I hardly give SFSGSW any attention and this discussion about it makes me want to listen.

take a tape recorder and record one of the new songs for us.

There's way too much good Megadeth to give it all the attention it deserves.

I actually wouldn't mind them turning that one into an instrumental. I haven't actually seen Megadeth live, but I recently watched a video of a show they played a couple years ago and Mustaine's vocals weren't very good. So, getting rid of the vocals is a plus for me. Unless he was having an off night perhaps? If his vocals are still of good quality and his vocals being bad was like a one time thing then I could go either way.

Chu 09-09-2006 08:17 PM

I think Mustaine's voice is at its best right now, he's never really been much of a singer...
But then again, I couldn't imagine anyone else singing for Megadeth.

123, I read somewhere on the forums that they might play Five Magics at one of their future shows \m/

Bazarov 09-10-2006 03:21 AM

So it was pretty much awesome.
Here's the set list:
Blackmail the universe
Set the World Afire
Skin o' My Teeth
Wake Up Dead
In My Darkest Hour
Die Dead Enough
She Wolf
Take No Prisoners (This was NOT instrumental)
Trust
Hangar 18
Sweating Bullets
Tornado of Souls
Kick the Chair
Symphony of Destruction
Washington is Next
Peace Sells
Holy Wars

I got the setlist and another sheet up paper for Take No Prisoners. The TNP paper has the lyrics on it, the words that the band shouts:
Inflitrate them
Terminate them
Permiate them
ect. ect.

I was in the very front the whole time, which was great. And also Overkill was pretty disappointing... :(

Holy ****, could it have been any better?! :o (Maybe if they played Mary Jane...)

What was Washington is Next like?

Bazarov 09-10-2006 03:29 AM

I liked it, it was long and cool, very cool solos I thought. If I had the ability to record it and post it on here, I would have snuck in a recorder. I feel that their new album will be pretty good, not awesome like previous releases, but not horrible.

Lord Abortion 09-10-2006 05:04 AM

I think they're just playing it as an instrumental because Dave doesn't want to give the lyrics away.

eug008 09-10-2006 06:00 AM

I thought they were playing the full song with lyrics, they only played it as an instrumental at the first show???

SailAway 09-10-2006 10:05 AM
I thought they were playing the full song with lyrics, they only played it as an instrumental at the first show???
They had the full song with lyrics at the 2nd show, I'm not sure of the 3rd.

Just curious, how so? Bad stage presence, sloppy performance.....

Bazarov 09-10-2006 01:14 PM

Because they only played 5 songs, and nothing off of The Years of Decay. And they played some really stupid song, Oldschool. Which I felt they could have put it Elimination or Evil Never Dies instead of playing.

Overkill was great, short set but hey, It was good. I also got a picture with the singer.

Arch Enemy was the worst band of the night, I can't see why people seem to love them.

Opeth was great, but they only played 3 songs.

LoG was boring as usual, still they managed to get people of their seats.

Megadeth: Take No Prisoners made my day.

I really wanted to go meet overkill but my spot was right up on the fence, and I wanted it for Megadeth. Oh well.

They were signing stuff when LoG was playing, during that I went out for some drinks and Overkill were walking like normal people outside, jaja that was pretty cool considering that I didn't have to make a long line or get that special wristband that allows you to meet the band.

I thought Opeth was supposed to do 5? They better...

I'll leave the Arch Enemy comment alone. I won't hurt you for it. :smash:

Glad to see Deth played Die Dead Enough again. Love that song...it was great last year.

That sucks :(

Bazarov 09-10-2006 09:16 PM

at least they played Rotten to the Core.

Chu 09-10-2006 09:24 PM

Who decides how long a band plays for?

I mean, does the band decide "We're not being payed for this, so let's only play 5 songs", or does Mustaine decide "I'm too cheap to pay for any more then 5 songs"?

pate 09-11-2006 12:22 AM

I'm pretty sure Dave sets the times.

I like 'Deth's set, having never seen them before. It covers TSHF and most of the classics.

Opeth better play the five song set at my show.

eug008 09-11-2006 12:43 AM

Only 5 songs? Actually that would go for about and hour anyway I guess. I don't really care about the length of the sets besides Megadeth for G2AUS. Hopefully the other bands have short sets and Deth gets 2 hours.

Jev 09-11-2006 01:43 AM

I hope it comes to Europe next year.

I would've loved to see LOG and Opeth with Deth :(

Tyr 09-11-2006 06:20 AM

^^Seconded, except no LoG for me.

SailAway 09-12-2006 07:04 AM

I got the gigantour DVD a few days ago, does anyone else own it? The sound quality is really nice on all of the bands, and the 2nd disc has some pretty funny stuff on it. I like anthrax's birthday song for Dave, and the tribute to dimebag was very good.

Did your copy say the wrong date and last name for the Dime tribute. Wonderin whether they had fixed it yet...

Yeah, and it still had those typos.

Shortly after lead guitarist Dave Mustaine was fired from Metallica due to alcohol problems, drug abuse and personality conflicts, Mustaine, guitarist Greg Handevidt and bassist David Ellefson formed Megadeth. As Mustaine himself says, "I could only focus on one thing [after being kicked out of Metallica]: I wanted blood... theirs."
