MUSTAINE DOES NOT WRITE FRIEDMANS SOLOS! You sir, are largely misinformed. Last time I checked Marty wrote his own parts.
Friedman wasn't around while Dave was writing all of rust in peace, it was only when they went to record that they replaced poland with friedman. Dave wrote pretty much all the solos in rust in peace which is, arguably, the best megadeth album by far.

I'm sorry but that's wrong. Listen to the demos and the solos are different. Friedman most definitely writes his own leads, I mean have you listened to Dragon's Kiss?

Thank you. Someone who knows what he's talking about. No offence random dave, but you are definately wrong on this one.

Oh right... well damn. Oh well, no hard feelings, eh? We're all megadeth fans around here anyway.

Sph 01-01-2006 10:51 AM

True, true...

:)

Sph 01-02-2006 12:47 AM

So, is there any chance of Poland recording some solos on the next album? Maybe Drover can dial in his tone? *drools* I love that tone...

Possibly, he came back for TSHF, so why not the new one? Too bad Marty doesn't want to do anything with Megadeth.

Sph 01-02-2006 12:55 AM

Yeah, i'm not a big fan of Drover. I mean, he's good and all but... he doesn't have a unique sound compared to Poland or Friedman IMO.

Yeah I wouldn't count out poland. Though he seems pretty busy lately.

Have you gotten to hear his leads on Lamb of God's Ashes of the Wake?

/drools

God that is pure talent. Hopefully if he does something on the next Megadeth album, it'll sound similar to that.

Poland is in Lamb of God?

No he just did a lead for them on 1 song. Him and alex skolnick.

I guess I'll have to give it a listen, though I doubt I'll like it.

Lamb of God, and my ears don't like each other.

I admit that there are a couple songs on that album that I don't like but listen to the title track. Poland just owns on it.

Just listen to (the song) Ashes of the Wake. It's an instrumental and has Poland (and Skolnick?) in it.

Skolnick, Poland and Freidman went on tour. That would be an amazing show. Too much talent for one tour right there.

Sph 01-02-2006 02:25 AM

Just Skolnick would be too much talent!:p But I guess that's just my Testament fanboyism shining through.

NP: Sodom - Agent Orange

Lord Abortion 01-02-2006 11:16 AM

I like the Drover brothers, they bring a good feel and stability to the band

Sph 01-02-2006 11:18 AM

Do you really want stability? I don't want a stable lead guitarist for Megadeth!:p

pep 01-02-2006 12:29 PM

dunno if you already noticed but if you listen to hangar 18, i think at 4:25 you can hear someone saying something or maybe laughing.

Sph 01-02-2006 12:40 PM

Nope, can't hear a thing. Sure you're not just imagining it?

pep 01-02-2006 12:44 PM

you need to listen carefully when the solo stops. Maybe its because I have a remastered version or something. try listening to it on a discman.

It sounds like the guitar to me.

I noticed something like this in Disposable Heroes by Metallica. Can't remember where though.

There's a lot of stuff like that in Metallica songs.

I heard that album is pretty horrible though. How is it?

Lord Abortion 01-03-2006 03:28 PM

I just got in from work, haven't had a chance to hear it yet.

It's okay but after a few listens it's pretty boring.

Bazarov 01-03-2006 03:33 PM

Favorite drum beat: Rust in Peace...Polaris intro
Favorite rhythm part:Looking Down The Cross
Favorite lead: Hangar 18 at 3:14, I love that solo.
Favorite bass: Dawn Patrol
Favorite vocals: Rust In Peace...Polaris (Remastered version)

Father_Jack 01-03-2006 03:35 PM
Favorite bass: Dawn Patrol
I change mine to this as well. I forgot how much this bass and the whole song rocks, the remastered one is better as well, which is a bit out of the ordinary.

EDIT: Dawn Patrol would be such a cool song to open a set to. With just like spot lights on Dave and James MacWhatever. It would be uber cool
