I'm back playing FF8 actually. Got a random urge to play it again the other day and it's once again taking up big chunks of my time.

Discuss its merits vs other titles in the series, specifically 7 and 9. Go.

8 has a good story, not quite as good as 7's imo but the graphics are better obviously. Fucking hated 9, couldn't get more than an hour in before I quit.

Couldn't agree more. I really dig 8's systems and story, but 7 will always have the edge as far as plot goes.

9 is the only FF between 6 and X-2 (laugh if you will) that I haven't bothered to complete; it just annoyed the fuck out of me and I disliked the mechanics of it. Overly cartoony, one-dimensional characters with over sized heads were never a good call in my book. And that fucking Steiner character! His role throughout the game appeared to be going AAAAARRRHHH! and worrying incessantly about some stupid princess.

decent firewire cards are around 400. This is a little more with more in out features and better latency. Future proofs me for recording bigger projects later on
