There is a reason why I stop posting in the politics forum. Is it Cornell?
No, Sarah Lawrence. I mean don't get me wrong...those people I'm talking about are pretty much in the minority and the academics and people here are the coolest I've ever experienced, but that small contingent just ruins it for everyone else that actually has a thoughtful brain in their heads...I mean, Michael Moore came to speak to us and we just totally f-ed up the Q+A portion of the lecture. We had these idiotic, self-righteous kids treating Moore like a demigod, asking, "How can we bring down the Man?" Christ, he's just a documentary filmmaker with an opinion. Just because I agree with it doesn't mean he's the leader of a nation-wide revolution against Republicans...I, along with hundreds of other kids, was totally embarressed to be attending the school after that talk.

It doesn't help that my roommate is dating one of these politically-correct people, either...can't stand her. The poor guy is head-over-heels into her, too, and she's like the coldest icicle on the roof. She shows him no affection whatsoever, and then I have to deal with my roommate telling me how he's jealous of MY relationship...blah. Sorry about the ranting. This school is great but there's aspects of it that are not so rose-like, just as it is anywhere, I suppose.

No worries. You guys are people too. :thumb: heheheh....

Meh, I think it's just wrong to make blanket-statements about political affiliations based on individual political opinions. Not every Republican is a die-hard religious fundamentalist from the steppes of Kansas who's argument against abortion is "Jesus says it's wrong!" I mean, not enough Democrats realize that, and that's exactly why we always lose...they're totally out of touch with the American public. Unfortunately, not enough people do that...and if there's one thing I've noticed about Republicans, it's that they're open to having their minds changed, or if not that, they'll at least incorporate new data into a modification of their original opinion. A few may ridicule the Democratic stance, but the majority seem open to new ideas. The majority of Democrats, on the other hand, just hate every political being that begins with the letter "R" and think a conservative opinion is indicative of wanting to live a hundred years ago instead of today. I agree with the opinions of the Democratic party regarding everything from Iraq to abortion, but I seem to one of the few people unique among Democrats to actually try to understand and respect the opinion of the person on the other side.

Ehhh, another rant. Sorry again. This stuff has been bugging me for a while. I feel like there's a political middle ground that people everywhere can work towards, but everybody's so partisan that that'll never happen.

666 The Post Count Of The Beast!!!!!

SonorKen 12-21-2004 12:24 PM

I finally got the drum instructor I have been wanting to be taught by for a while. All is good now! We don't start till after the first of the year which is gonna kinda suck tho. He is pretty intense, before we start I have to brush up on all my rudiments, give him a video recording of my playing a full live show so he can find problem areas, brush up on my reading and he doesnt want me practicing on my kit unless I am practicing for a show. He said he is going to have me on nothing but a snare and djembe for quite a while!

Anyway, back to writing my kinetics of trauma lecture.

munky_magik 12-21-2004 12:27 PM

Well, good luck with those lessons. I really need to get around to getting myself guitar lessons

munky_magik 12-21-2004 02:54 PM

shortass 12-21-2004 02:56 PM

I've never seen anyone with one star before...

Bartender 12-21-2004 02:56 PM

I'm currently working on the theory that three star people are people who meet all the normal requirements for stars, and more than half (or some percent) of their rep is from mods. Based on nothing but guesswork, though.

shortass 12-21-2004 03:01 PM

Bartender do you have five stars because your a mod?

Bartender 12-21-2004 03:03 PM

Yep.
