I can't help that the restaurant it Unionized.
It's a good and bad thing.

Pros:
- Money
- Managers need a good reason to fire you
- Benefits (barely any)

Cons:
- Union fees :(
- Managers needing a good reason to fire people. (there are some terrible employees at white spot, some people are 2 IQ points above retardation)
- Salary Cap
Oh, you work at White Spot. My cousin used to work there (still does, I think, actually).

Still.

It sounds better than working 20+ hours a week for barely above minimum wage. We don't have a union, but they're still hesitant to fire people.

When is the final result for the Senate going to be known?

Depends. I think we can count on there being a recount at this point - it's crazy close. It might not be right away because of that.

Yeah, the USA seems to have a notorious history of recounts, the past few years.

The elections are run so incompetently that if the margin is only a couple hundred votes in a state you'd be dumb not to contest the result

I'd respond to that, but I need to go earn money to pay for someone's welfare.

Its because we are slowly becoming a nation of retards who lack the ablility to perform basic mathematics...

Kandyman 11-08-2006 04:13 PM

Minimum is $6.75.

I guess I should be lucky that I'm making $0.50 over that.

500 hours? What relevance does that have?

I've worked a 2000+ hours there since I started, two and a half years ago.

Slowly? man you're all already there.

Learmt some interesting facts recently;
61% of US population are clinically obese
20% are so obese they are likely to die before thier own parents.

Only 13% own a Passport
Only 7% use thier Passport to travel abroad.

God knows what that 6% does with thier pasports.

Kandyman 11-08-2006 04:19 PM

Oh I admit we're a nation of gluttons. We seriously have no self control or sense of responsibility for our own actions.

And of course we don't travel abroad...... we're spending all our money biggie-sizing our damn double whopper value meals....

I'd guess most of the people who use their passport just use it to go to the Caribbean for spring break.

PaulSimonon 11-08-2006 04:26 PM

I'm part of the 6%.... we get together and have circle jerks with our passports.

Polyamarous 11-08-2006 04:35 PM

And to be fair, the only American I people I've ever spoken too (albiet online) have been bassist and I consider very intelligent folk.
Maybe that's just bassist not Americans.

BenJammin 11-08-2006 04:37 PM

American culture is just like any other culture.

There are stupid people and intelligent people.

Americans just get a lot more press coverage for their stupid people, which leads people to generalise and reach the conclusion that most Americans must be dumb.

I have met a lot of really dumb americans. On that note I have met a lot of really dumb canadians as well.

Yeah. There are tons of ridiculously stupid people in this country.

Nonetheless, I wouldn't say that most Canadians are dumb.

We'll i guess BC labour laws are different.

Here, you get paid training wage (6.50) until you've worked 500 hours.
After that it's mandatory that you get paid minimum wage. I think it's 8 here.

I would say that there are the same percentage of dumb canadians as there are americans. But a lot more americans are ignorant.

I'd say it's becasue they have a dumb President, and becasue they keep voting for a dumb president.

Oh, yeah. We don't have any labour laws like that here.

There's no training wages, or student wages, or anything like that.

Just a flat minimum wage rate.

I wish my workplace had a raise system based on hours, though. I'd have climbed nearly to the top by now. :upset:

PaulSimonon 11-08-2006 04:49 PM

Ummm, Bush has yet to win a popular vote in an election by more than a fraction? I don't see how the populus is faulted for having a ****ty way to vote.

Because we get paid for what position were at, i get paid more then some people that have been working there for more than 6 years. I've just past the 2 year mark. It's weird, I'll be so relaxed and do my job so easily, while they can do the same job, just slower and a lot more stressed out.

"¡Porque la vida es una tombola, tom-tom-tom!".

BenJammin 11-08-2006 05:54 PM

I understand that except for 'tombola.' What does that mean?
