Tonight my playlist has been: Tegan and Sara (Acoustic/Indie), Intocable (Traditional Latin), Rhapsody (Power Metal), and Therapy? (Hard Rock), among others...
That's definitely a variety. I've never heard any of those bands. :-\
Jamison Parker - Slow Suicide... I am hooked on this song! It is so awesome!
Great band. Too bad they broke up. :(

Permanent Solution 04-19-2006 11:25 PM

I've never listened to Jamison Parker. Hmm...

EDIT: Brian: Yeah, I prefer no 2 CDs of the same genre per day :)

You might like Therapy?.

Mute Print 04-19-2006 11:27 PM
Brian: Yeah, I prefer no 2 CDs of the same genre per day
Ha, I wish I could do that. But, since I listen to around 10 albums on a school day, and even more when I'm off, it would be very difficult. I could probably do it once in a while, but I don't have enough albums for most genres.

I'll check out Therapy?.

Permanent Solution 04-19-2006 11:34 PM

Yeah, that's probably about what I listen to if not more...depends on when I go to bed. I keep a decently balanced collection though which allows me to do so. I need to keep expanding my Latin music as well as my Jazz.

They're like Jelle's (Superpeer) favorite band. Kinda Hard Rock/Grunge/Punk.

Mute Print 04-19-2006 11:37 PM

I need to expand my metal collection, and maybe add a little indie too. I recently discoved that thrash is cool too.

Awesome.

Permanent Solution 04-19-2006 11:40 PM

Thrash like Punk Thrash or Thrash like Metal Thrash?

Either way I'm not a big fan but I'm still curious O:-)

Indie is good, I can give lots there. Metal too but I'm getting a tad bored...except with Folk Metal, I'm digging that atm.

Dinosawesome 04-19-2006 11:42 PM
Great band. Too bad they broke up. :(
I know, those two-man bands never last.

Mute Print 04-19-2006 11:42 PM
Thrash like Punk Thrash or Thrash like Metal Thrash?
Uh, like punk thrash I think, although I'd be interesting in hearing either.

Folk Metal sounds interesting. I like Folk Punk.

Well the best known Metal Thrash is Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer... It is a pretty deep genre though.

I think Zack is gonna mail me some Agalloch, d/l that. Also this:
http://www.purevolume.com/finntroll
EDIT: Hell, they have a pv too so...
http://www.purevolume.com/agalloch

Mute Print 04-19-2006 11:49 PM

I like Metallica and Slayer, so I guess I listen to a little of both types of thrash.

Finntroll sounds pretty cool. It was almost like listening to Flogging Molly gone metal in some parts. :p

Permanent Solution 04-19-2006 11:52 PM

Ah, well if you like Thrash Metal look into Anthrax, Athiest, and Testament as well.

Finntroll is so much fun. I just got into them off R&M's daily upload. I put in a link to Agalloch too. Totally diff as one's more Death Metal incluenced and the other Black Metal but eh.

Mute Print 04-19-2006 11:56 PM

Agalloch sounds good too.

I don't know the difference between black metal and death metal, so whatever. I can tell the two bands are obviously very different sounding, but I don't know which is which. I'm guessing Agalloch might be the Black Metal, but I'm probably wrong.

I'll look into those bands too. Thanks.

Permanent Solution 04-19-2006 11:58 PM

Death Metal is fast and technical. Black Metal, originating in the Swedish area of the world, is big on atmosphere in most cases.

Now can you tell which is which? :p

No prob, tis rare I get to give you bands :p

Mute Print 04-20-2006 12:02 AM

Yeah, now I can tell. :p

I usually only come to you in search of metal, which up until recently, I had little interest in. :p

Permanent Solution 04-20-2006 12:03 AM

The funny thing is that I'm actually not a huge nerd in any one genre. I just like a variety with a few specializations (Pop-Punk, Metal...). But it works to introduce people to new styles pretty well I suppose.

NP: AKFG - Haruka Kanata

Mute Print 04-20-2006 12:08 AM

I know pretty much nothing about metal though, so you're a lot of help.

I don't know that much about any one genre either. :-\

NP: Goo Goo Dols - Dizzy Up The Girl (Buffalo ftw).

Permanent Solution 04-20-2006 12:11 AM

Well exactly, I know all the entry bands so I'm good at that

Sure ya do. Well...Pop-Punk and Hardcore. :-\

PS way to snag 2 albums I coulda done on the Punk blurbs :p

NP: DJ Alligator Project - Blow My Whistle Bitch (reeeeffffflllll, good times with this song at Gaby's party...)

Mute Print 04-20-2006 12:12 AM
Sure ya do. Well...Pop-Punk and Hardcore. :-\
I just make it up as I go along. :p

Haha, you and Jon collaborate to invent bands to make the rest of us look dumb :p

AM!, duh.

Mute Print 04-20-2006 12:19 AM
Haha, you and Jon collaborate to invent bands to make the rest of us look dumb
Hahaha. xTo This Dayx.
AM!, duh.
Heh, it was a toss up. I didn't know you listened to either.

Edit - Oh, I should have known AM!. You've seen them live once or twice, right?

Permanent Solution 04-20-2006 12:22 AM

OMG

So my band played a battle of the bands like a week ago and I swear to god one of the bands was named something ridiculous like "Blacken my eyes at the sunrise" or some shiz. It was so amazing because the stereotype is true!

wotttt? I <3 AM! My first vinyls:

yourstruly 04-20-2006 12:25 AM

Nice vinyl. :jealous:

Mute Print 04-20-2006 12:29 AM

Nice Vince. My first vinyl was either AWS - Diver 7" or AWS - Ruiner 12", but I don't have pics of either.

I had pics of my other vinyls, but can't find them.

Permanent Solution 04-20-2006 12:33 AM

I know. I'm picking up Illusion of Safety in a few weeks on vinyl, as well as some others
I should get the Ruiner 12" but I doubt the shop has it hmm...

Mute Print 04-20-2006 12:36 AM

I just preordered Set It Straight's new album on vinyl and CD. (package deal).

I don't know of a shop around here that carries new vinyls. :(

I found the pics of my other 7"s:

Permanent Solution 04-20-2006 12:42 AM

Those are pretty sick. I like.

My local CD shoop carries new vinyls and the bonus is I get my discount on them too. SO in 2 weeks or so I'll get $2-3 off all of them :D

Speaking of vinyl, I called my dad today to ask if I could have his. He was like "You mean my vintage circa 1980 ______?" "Yes?" "" ":upset:"

Mute Print 04-20-2006 12:45 AM

Hahaha, I was looking through my dad's vinyl the other day. He has a lot of them because he used to work at a record shop as one of his first jobs.

I know of one CD shop around here that carries vinyl, but I'm not sure if they have new vinyl. I know they have used ones though.

Permanent Solution 04-20-2006 12:46 AM

Oh man, that's sweet. My dad sold a good portion of his :( My brothers and I are gonna have a hell of a time dividing those up... Even with the best stuff gone.

If it's good condition used migh as well go for it. The CD shop here only carries new though. Too bad since I could get them insane cheap used...

Mute Print 04-20-2006 12:51 AM

I've never actually looked at the used records because I always assume they're all going to be classic rock. I probably should give them a look. :p

My dad has some interesting records. A bunch of them are imports and bootlegs from bands like Aerosmith and REO Speedwagon. Some of the bands I've never heard of in my life.

Permanent Solution 04-20-2006 12:55 AM

Hey, nothing wrong with Classic Rock...

But yeah you never know, maybe it was a promo copy, maybe someone just didn't like it...

REO Speedwagon haha. Yeah my dad has lots of stuff I've never heard of either. I wish I could have seen his old collection, as is he has 3 huge crates of them. It's amazing.

NP (worth a listen if you're looking for some Indie)
