i personally hate the S&M versions of the songs...they stink IMO
one time i listened tot he thing that should not be and i couldnt get those fawking string parts out of my head for 2 weeks...it drives you nuts and ruins the whole song

but thats just my opinion
i thought it was killer that they did the call of ktulu. they should have done orion and to live is to die.

HNLzero 09-09-2004 07:45 PM

when james plays the blackened riff, does he even play the low open e string or just the 7th fret on a e's ?

I didn't like S&M either. I thought it was pointless and overrated.

Squirrel 09-10-2004 10:04 AM

Good idea, lots of bad song choices.

Pretty sure he does the open E, it's not that hard. :)

HeRoOfThEdAy1589 09-10-2004 07:51 PM

Poofy 666 09-10-2004 08:19 PM

i wish in S&M they didnt play the Load/Re-Load songs... more M.O.P. or R.T.L.

Po0sH 09-10-2004 08:36 PM
i wish in S&M they didnt play the Load/Re-Load songs... more M.O.P. or R.T.L.
That would be the best, but metallica and the symphony decided that the Load/Reload songs sounded better with a symphony. I think thats bs, many great songs werent played.

Nate22 09-10-2004 08:39 PM

Metallica is so awesome. They've got so many great songs. Master of Puppets is their best album in my opinion.

AClotM1 09-10-2004 09:02 PM

Theres only one band I like as much as Metallica, Rush! Rush > all. Oh, and Tool also.

clown_phobia 09-11-2004 03:19 AM

whenver I feel like something heavy, i put ride the lightning on. it's really good IMO. i think i like the black album possibly a little more, but ride the lightning heavier and has longer songs.

ajslayer 09-11-2004 06:43 PM
There best is probably Dyers Eve or Fight Fire with Fire.....Or wait theres Ride the Lightning......and then theres always Fade to Black.....then theres always Disposable heroes...such a hard decision.
i, on the other hand, loved s&m! it was a masterpiece in every aspect (except that i would've picked a different song instead of bleeding me, like sanitarium or fade to black). other than that, i just loved it. :thumb:

but i dont want to start a fight or anything, i was just posting my opinion

A-S-S-H-A-T 09-12-2004 01:26 AM

OK I dunno if this was already posted (too lazy to look through whole thread....) But whats your favorite solo. (play/listen)

Mines gotta be the "One" solo. It's real easy to play but ... idunno I just like it.

¿ Zed Leppelin ? 09-12-2004 03:04 AM

I can't choose just one favorite Metallica solo, they're all good. But anyway I just bought this sweet Metallica black-light poster of the flaming skull and it has the Metallica logo under it.

S&M is an unbelievable album. After listening to that for a while, the original versions of the songs seem a little dry(Still good though). My favorite tracks on there are:
-Devil's Dance-The orchestra just adds a whole new level of melodrama to the song. I love it.
-No Leaf Clover-This song just plain out kicks *** in the S&M album.
-Master of Puppets-The orchestra just adds on to an already kick-*** song.

BlinDecsent 09-12-2004 04:03 AM

Don't forget For whom the bell tolls and one. Also the intro to battery was simply amazing with the orchestra. S&M also got me somewhat into the load/reload songs which I now think are pretty good in their own rights.

Diatonic Dissonance™ 09-12-2004 04:37 AM

Ride The Lightning solo is awesome.

Argh, I can't post in words how much I WORSHIP Metallica. They are a religion to me.

So I'm just going to stop here.

legion88 09-12-2004 04:39 AM

sigh metallica, taking precious coverage from Slayer, the best metal band around.

i dont know how you cant like S&M
after metal and rock classical music is the best.

jaymz_is_god 09-12-2004 09:48 AM

I thought S&M was great. It was a good idea and Metallica managed to pull it off well.

Phil Anselmo 09-12-2004 09:49 AM

I agree! I have the DVD
