i find it kinda disappointing and sad that...ppl now rip ENTIRE DVD's and put em up for everyone to see.

especially when it comes to dream theater.
SUPPORT DREAM THEATER! don't mooch :]

i = hypocrite for ripping most of their CD's off torrents.
but i've changed. i'm only buying things now.

Jev 04-15-2006 04:16 PM

Even if I didn't have LATB, I still wouldn't watch it on Youtube. I just can't.

heavy metal kid 04-15-2006 04:29 PM

I own the Budokan DVD, it's good but it's basically ToT and 6DOIT, at least the Instrumedley was good.

Jev 04-15-2006 04:32 PM

I think it was on the TOT tour, hence the whole album being there.

Either Strange Deja Vu or Fatal Tragedy. I have to say though, if the first part One Last Time was longer, it would be in contention for being my fave song, I love the first minute/minute and a half in that song.

What would people say was the essential Dream Theater side projects to listen to?

Hmmm...I probably can't speak for everyone cause I've never listened to Jame's solo album or Transatlantic but Liquid Tension Experiment is AWESOME. John Petrucci's 'Suspended Animation' record is very good also.

Jev 04-15-2006 04:48 PM

James' solo stuff is pretty damn good.

LTE is my favourite though.

Did anyone else know Portnoy is doing a couple of shows with Billy Sheehan, Paul Gilbert and Gary Cherone as a tribute to The Who at the end of May?

Nope, but that's sounds interesting.

Who's Gary Cherone? wasn't he the singer from Extreme?

Thats cool.
He's also doing a side project with Mikael Akerfeldt and one of the guys from Porcupine Tree.

Jev 04-15-2006 05:21 PM

He is?
I can't wait to hear it.

Yeah, I saw it under the music news link under the Sputnikmusic.com logo. It was a few weeks ago so Im not sure if its still there.

How is the DT medly coming?

NP: Octavarium

Yeah he was. And later on...Van Halen.

GenuineImitation 04-15-2006 06:38 PM

Whats everyone's favorite DT album at this moment. Mine is either Octavarium or Images and Words.

Elmo McCheese 04-15-2006 07:03 PM

Images and Words has always been my favorite, followed by Metropolis Pt. 2.

silicon71 04-15-2006 07:05 PM

I think Octavarium, but most will disagree.

Elmo McCheese 04-15-2006 07:07 PM
I think Octavarium, but most will disagree.
Yeah, i disagree. It's good of course, but definitely not their best IMO.

At this moment? That would be 'Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence.' At first I didn't really care for Disc 2. Now I realize how incredible it really is. Man, won't it be awesome once that Radio Hall DVD comes out.

Yes, it will be awsome when the new DVD comes out. My parents just bought a 42'' Plasma with a 7 speaker Bose surround sound. I plan on cranking up the system and just watching the whole thing, front to end.

Thor 04-15-2006 08:10 PM

Are there any other people here besides me who are just angered by the fact that everyone in Dream Theater turns into a statue when they play shows? They're so unbelieveably dull live.

Im not. I go to the show for the music, not to see them run around on stage. For the April First show, they moved aroung quite a bit. I believe there was a part where Myung went over to Petrucci's side and LaBrie moved around alot also.

Thor 04-15-2006 08:16 PM

Well I mean of course you'd go to see them because of their music, but I would probably get bored after a while if they didn't do at least a little something. I was just watching them play "This Dying Soul" on some Youtube video and they really didn't move at all for several minutes.

While they are all very good at their instruments, they really need to work on their showmanship.

GenuineImitation 04-15-2006 08:18 PM

Trust me, they moved alot more for the new DVD then the Live at Budokon DVD.

I wasn't bored at all during their concert, but I can see why some people would be.
