I set magicbus's second pic as my background :thumb: I'm working on my SOYCD thing tomorrow during study hall :)

magicbus 09-25-2005 10:11 PM

1. The shaking of the hand a la Wish You Were Here
2. Wish You Were Here written on the banner below.
3. The beams of light going through the heart (like DSOTM lol)
4. The "P" and the "F" on each end of the banner (for Pink Floyd)
5. The guy sitting in the chair on the banner is from the cover of Ummagumma

EDIT: Deus helped me out :p

DeusExMachina 09-25-2005 10:13 PM

Yarg. I helped you get the last one!
While we're on the subject of trippy pictures, here are a few I made in the past:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v200/rockshowguy56/thingy.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v200/rockshowguy56/wave.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v200/rockshowguy56/fury.jpg

I can send you the larger one if you want it, photobucket resized them all.
a full sized of number 3 would be great.

that's album cover quality, dude. National album cover.

magicbus 09-26-2005 09:14 AM

Do you have an email I can send it to or something?

Doctor Night 09-26-2005 11:15 AM

How do you make those?

I take pictures and use different effects to transform them until they look the way I'm seeing it. For instance, that "wave" one started off as the cover to A Saucerful of Secrets :p

Moaner, I'm sending it now.

Maybe in art class I'll start working on pictures that depict song titles, and do one for Pink Floyd.

Broken Arrow 09-26-2005 02:05 PM

I like the 3rd one best but there all awesome.

temporary 09-26-2005 03:15 PM

Wow, listened to Any Colour You Like for the first time in a while today, and I forgot how awesome it was. I love the groove Wright and Gilmour are in. The guitar is soooooo awesome.

BigTrav415 09-26-2005 03:26 PM

Ok, well here's my angry little story.

Last night I made a post around 10:38 I believe, and it turned out Riva had just made one as well, about the 5 things. I made my list, but I forgot the internet at my house auot-shutsdown at 10:40, so when I tried to post... nothing

I think I got them wrong anyway though, here were my guesses:

The DSotM prism

The heart represented the heartbeat in DSotM

Wish You Were Here

PF

And I thought the knight dude was accepting his death fro the angel, ala Great Gig.

Yep, made a post about that a few pages back :thumb:

EDIT: Oops, double-post.

DeusExMachina 09-26-2005 06:16 PM

Any Colour you Like is amazing. I need to listen to DSOTM again soon.

robo2448 09-26-2005 06:31 PM

It's been ages since I've listened to DSOTM. I should put that on. I went through an Animals obsession, and since then I haven't listened to much Floyd except live stuff like DSOT, which I got recently.

SynthesizedRudeboy 09-27-2005 08:15 AM
Time is the greatest Pink Floyd song, amazing piece of artwork, DSOTM is. Took 1 n a half years to make 9 songs. Money is the most known, but it is a very great song, The raggity sax and the guitar after makes me get pumped :P

As for Comfortably Numb, it's alright, I'm not the biggest fan, Wish You Were Here has great vocals and Run Like Hell is one of their best instrumentals. I also like Welcome To Machine.
I believe you mean on the run, not run like hell. Both very good songs, but I'd have to say my favorite album is not darkside like most people. My favorite floyd album is the wall, and my favorite song would be money (I'm a bass guitar and a sax player :-P ), or echoes. or breathe.....too many good songs

moaner 09-27-2005 09:13 AM

I have an obscure theory that Meddle is actually a concept album.

I'll share it with you sometime.

I know what you mean, Everybody says DSOTM is so great everyoine should own a copy, and I do belive DSOTM is a sick album, But I like The Wall so much more

Share it now please

I'd love to see it sometime.

DSOTM > The Wall. I just find DSOTM to be so much more accessible.

Meh, I think The Wall is more of an experience.

DeusExMachina 09-27-2005 02:40 PM
Meh, I think The Wall is more of an experience.
I agree the Wall is more immense and powerful. However, in terms of pure music, I just think DSOTM is better.
I agree the Wall is more immense and powerful. However, in terms of pure music, I just think DSOTM is better.
I see your point, I think I'll give DSOTM another listen. I've been listening to mostly Animals and Meddle, lately.

Distant Echoes 09-27-2005 02:46 PM

Dont mean to change the subject, but while i was loking for aussie floyd tix, I noticed some concerts had a ticket limit and some didnt. Do ticket limits apply strictly at venues or does it depend on the concert? Tix go on sale this saturday and I was planning on getting about 8+, but dont want to invite more people then can come...info?

I also think DSOTM is better then the wall...The Wall tends to weaken sometimes like with fragments to hold the storyline together. It cant keep my interest all the way through; i guess its the flow. But the concept of DSOTM also is much more comparible to anybodys perspective too.

I'll probably have to agree with that. I like WYWH and Animals more than either though.

I agree with you 100 percent. The Wall is great, but there are so many other Pink Floyd albums that should be getting just as much, or more, recognition.

BigTrav415 09-27-2005 04:27 PM

Favorite album = Meddle

I'd really like to hear that theory, I can kind of see where you are coming from. Even though all the songs are completely different... they just feel... connected somehow. I'd really like to hear your opinion, maybe it will help me piece together whats in my mind.

BTW, I think DSotM > Wall. The Wall is a great album, but just too depressing for me. Great music can come from sadness, but really I'd rather be happy from listening to music. I'd definitely say the first half of Disc 2 is the best part by far though.

thickasabrick 09-27-2005 05:18 PM

The thing I love about DSOTM is that it's so many great songs and moments in music melted into about 43 minutes. It isn't like The Wall, where you have to basically set aside an entire evening to listen to it. DSOTM can fit into any part of my day with ease. I listened to it every night before I went to bed for about two months straight a while back....now I only listen to it about 3 or 4 times a week.
