I only just recently got into megadeth after a friend showed me some of their stuff and then I got some of their albums my favorite being Rust In Peace every song on there is worth a listen. Hangar 18, Five Magics and Holy Wars are my favorite ones.
Holy wars is the best song in the world!

Well I dunno... the live version of holy wars that ends with silent scorn probably tops it. It fits so well in every way.

Is that on an album?

random dave 12-31-2005 03:03 PM

Ya huh. 'Still, alive and... well?' Otherwise its not great, its mainly a live/greatest hits album. But it has a fantastic Time/Use the man medley, which sounds awesome. Apart from that and the holy wars there's not much point in getting it if you have the earlier albums.

this is where Dave Mustaine wish he was in time:
Easy? How the **** is it easy? How long did it take you to learn it?
I spent like 3-4 weeks on it. I meant that over time it gets much easier. Now i can whip it outta of nowhere and i don't really have to think about it. It's a bitch to learn though.

Yep, he wants to leave his rockin' band and rejoin with a band that can't touch his current one. How very sad indeed.......

I'm sure that's why they have sold 10 -15 times more records then Megadeth...and a band that is a whole lot more entertaining live as well...but if you;ve seen the Some Kind of Monster DVD Mustaine said he wish they would have sent him into rehab so he could still be in the band

The way it turned out was still probably for the best. I think Hammett was a better choice for Metallica, though I often think about what might of happened had he stayed with Exodus. :ponder:

New guitarists, I believe, often bring bands to new levels. Imagine Megadeth without Friedman, no wonderful Holy Wars, or Hangar 18 solos. However, without Poland there would be no Good Mourning/Black Friday or Peace Sells.

Still, all subjective opinion.

Make that double quoted for truth.

Thanks for pointing that out.

Sph 01-01-2006 09:44 AM

Chris Polands tone is heavenly, don't you think?
*drools*

random dave 01-01-2006 09:52 AM

Yeah, I mean, Peace sells is all you need to say. But I think overall I prefer friedman as a guitarist and writer.

Sph 01-01-2006 09:54 AM

Imagine Friedman with Polands tone...

*comes in pants* <_<

random dave 01-01-2006 09:59 AM

Haha, and then add mustaine's writing ability.
Haha, and then add mustaine's writing ability.
Mustaines writing ability?! He's above average but not extraordinary.

random dave 01-01-2006 10:04 AM

I'd say he was better than friedman, just a really crappy guitarist.

Sph 01-01-2006 10:08 AM

 You're kidding right?! Mustaine know something like two scales! I mean, don't get me wrong, he's a great rythm and lead guitar player but his stuff is fairly basic.

random dave 01-01-2006 10:18 AM

Well whether he only knew to scales or not, if I were asked too listen to speed metal symphony or Holy wars, itd be 'brother will kill brother' every time.

Sph 01-01-2006 10:21 AM
Well whether he only knew to scales or not, if I were asked too listen to speed metal symphony or Holy wars, itd be 'brother will kill brother' every time.
It's irrelevent. Friedman has better writing skills and it shows in his work. I'm not going to bring up who is a 'better' player but Mustaine is certainly not a 'really crappy guitarist.'

random dave 01-01-2006 10:25 AM

Ok, really crappy guitarist is a large overstatement, but if you look at any solos, friedman's are always more complex and technical than mustaine's, but its mustaine who writes them.

Sph 01-01-2006 10:28 AM

MUSTAINE DOES NOT WRITE FRIEDMANS SOLOS! You sir, are largely misinformed. Last time I checked Marty wrote his own parts.

Aw3someman 01-01-2006 10:30 AM

Dave is a well rounded guitarist he can do almost everything. Friedman can do rhythmn but his soloing ability is way better.while dave can do everything

Jev 01-01-2006 10:31 AM

Can Dave fly?
No

But still I like the way Marty comes up with his own scales to fit the songs which he bases the solos on.
