So it wasn't really against communism, rather that communism is an illusion, if you will. Hence it is similar to Animals, which deals somewhat with the evils of capitalism.
Yeah. I think everone knows that the Dogs are the lower class who are trying to crawl their way up, the Sheep are the mindless majority Middle Class, and the Pigs are at the top. |
You could also compare it to an office though, with Pigs being the Executives, Sheep being the cubicle workers, and Dogs being the Supervisors.

I've never really thought of it that way, just the usual upper/middle/lower class way. Pretty interesting. |
I enjoy it more than TDB, to be honest.
I quite like that, though they really did something weird with Time. :cries: Congratulations are in order, I think.
I think they do weird stuff with alot of the album, extensions, etc etc. Thank you sir... I am uber excited, but since the mother paid for it I have to wait, she decided to give it to me as a present. |
The Floyd Thread must not die!! Bump!!
|
I am learning comfortably numb as we speak. Such a great solo, I love Gilmours phrasing.
|
Gilmour is a great guitarist.

most underated album ever by Pink Floyd! <---- |
most underated album ever by Pink Floyd!
<----
I think that title goes to Obscured By Clouds. So "Learning To Fly" is really cool. I'll probably figure out this solo next. |
Yea, I think the whole Momentary Lapse of Reason album is underrated.
Sorrow anyone?
its not all that great, but its a meh album |
Yea, I think the whole Momentary Lapse of Reason album is underrated.
That's definatley the coolest album title ever. Though I haven't heard it yet:upset: I plan to soon, first of all because it's Floyd, and second because of the name. |
I think that title goes to Obscured By Clouds.

A momentary lapse of reason? I was just listening to that before - its a great album.
|
AMLOR has it's moments (Sorrow, Terminal Frost, On The Turning Away), but otherwise it's just a decent album IMO. It does have a cool name.
I am learning comfortably numb as we speak. Such a great solo, I love Gilmours phrasing.
The 2nd solo in that song never fails to strike emotion in me, no matter how many times I hear it. The Wall has so many great solos. |
The Wall has so many great solos.
/sigh I'm all alone in my only liking early stuff nowadays :( Last time I listened to the wall (And I can't bring myself to do that veyr often), solos were kinda thin on the ground, and that one was the only one that struck me as "good" when compared to past work. |
most underated album ever by Pink Floyd!
<----
So true. It's my favorite album. |
Speaking of Animals, does anyone else have Les Claypool's Frog Brigade Live Frogs Set 2? They cover Animals. I downloaded it a really, really long time ago from one of the YSI threads, but never bothered to listen to it because I've never been a big Primus fan. But I'm listening to it for the first time now and it's really good. They actually do the album justice, although they really imitate all the sounds very closely. Even the vocals. Not too much jamming or wierd stuff like Primus, but it's just a really good performance with some great bass playing. Good stuff.

Most of the people who post in here are well aware of all the reencarcations of Pink Floyd, and have heard all or at least most of their albums. As for your views on The Wall, those are mine as well, I thought that a couple of those solo's could have been extended into great jams if the band was actually able to be in the same room for the ammount of time their old jams used to take. Though I think that the lyrics make up for it. Though Comfertartably Numb is a brillent solo, and I think its one of Dave's best. Especially live I love the part right at the end when you think its all the intensity that has built up the whole solo seems to explode. |

Are all great, I even am naming my solo stuff (which I hope to become a band soon after a title thing on The Man the Journey). But something about comfortably numb is simplying amazing! I mean DSOTM is ok as a Pink Floyd album but I think the Wall Dominates it. Also I haven't listened to MLoR much. I bought it and just haven't given it much of a chance. I just got Relics and I love it! See emily play is awesome, and Careful with that Axe Eugene is pretty much one of my favorite Pink Floyd songs.
So true. It's my favorite album.
It's definetly not one of my favorites, too many that are better, but it's a great album none the less. |
Careful with that Axe Eugene is pretty much one of my favorite Pink Floyd songs.
123, it's one of Floyd's best as far as atmosphere goes IMO. Animals is a great album, but I have to be in the right mood for it. I went through a phase where it was my favorite for like a year, I guess I'm just kind of burned out on it. |
I personally think that the Wall is one of the most overrated albums ever.
I feel as if there is waaaay too much filler, and even some songs just seem too...I can't really describe it. I feel like some songs could have/should have been longer but they were all cut really short, and some just seem pointless. |
I go through phases with Careful With This Axe Eugene and Saucerful of Secrets where they are both my favorite Floyd songs. Right now I am in one of those phases so 123 :smoke:
I just love the way that both jams are so experimental and how really nothing before or since has ever been done. Besides I don't know anyone who can scream like Roger when I see that painting "the scream" I always hear Roger's scream coming from it. |

But I know what you are saying, I am trying to capture the same atmosphere in one of my own songs. |

I don't think so, it's just one of their best known to non-fans thanks to ABITW Pt. 2. Among real fans, it's not that overrated at all.
I am trying to capture the same atmosphere in one of my own songs.
Good luck with that. :) |

Good luck with that. :)
I know, if I could pull a scream like that it would be awesome, I am doing something PF did with a slide and it should be pretty sweet! I doubt anyone of my work will be like PF's but my friend compared one of my softer progier songs to Porcupine Tree! The scream was stolen (the painting). |
Oh the painting! thats a real shame, I wouldn't know anything about that (oh know they're on to me  )

I took an art class, that was an easy A last year..We learned about it... |
Went to JB to get The Division Bell today. It was the only effing Floyd CD they didn't have. They even had an imported Japanese single version of Wish You Were Here live. Anyways, I ended up buying PATGOD for 9.99. Snap!
Oh yeah, my dad lent me some Floyd DVD's, including the David Gilmour live in concert one. :amazed: It was really good! Maybe that's what spurred me to get TDB. And is there a way to get that I Put A Spell On You that he did with that chick on CD? Loved it. PATGOD time now. |
You could probably record the audio from that track on your computer. I love the Gilmour live DVD.
You will enjoy PATGOD. |

That one? Probally about $5k+. |

Dave's new pedalboard is absolutely insane, the versatility of the nicest digital single pedals you can find with the quality and sound of tubes. I wish he was coming anywhere near the South :upset:
|
I wish he'd come over here. I'd love to see him.
|
You mean he's not touring in England? And not to Leeds at that? Hell, I live in the American South and I've heard of Leeds.

I definitly would've gotten the Japanese single for novelties sake. Sucks about the Division Bell, though, its got some increadible guitar and keyboard work. PATGOD is excellent, though. |
I picked up the Final Cut on vinyl which I am listening to now! and I picked up another copy of Animals (this was different) on vinyl. Now the sleeve of one of my animals has a bluer sky and an all around lighter color, and on the first copy I bought of it, it has a reddish sky and darker tint, this is not from age, anyone know why?
