what was their last movie called? was it let it be??
Yeah, it showed them working in the studio on Let It Be, and the roof-top concert. |
Sgt. Pepper: Of course it would be A Day In The Life, but other than that, I would pick Being For The Benefit Of Mr. Kite.
sorry to drag the threads back awhile but, i'd say Sgt. Pepper the best song has to be Good Morning Good Morning its got some fantastic gritty vocals in it from john, awesome guitar riff, great walking bass riff and a great drum part... what more could u want? But sure there is also A day in Life thats awesome aswell |
Are there any bands that you think sound like the beatles? e.g:
Oasis|> their singer just in general sounds/reminds me of John Lennon's sound Rufus Wainright|> did a great cover of Across the Universe in the John Lennon Tribute concert after 9/11 The Vines|> did a cover of "i'm only Sleeping" and the vocalist for that song reminded me of/sounded remotely like john lennon |

Badfinger. Their early stuff sounded very very Beatles-ish. Pretty good underrated band. |
That's cause the Beatles produced Badfinger.
|
I forget who recommended "All Things Must Pass", but thanks... I just got it and it is magnifico
Woodstock got a makeover! que bueno! ...another fan letter: Dear Beatles, I am six years old and I love you better than Captain Kangaroo. Paula Detroit |

I can't think of any artist that consistently reminds me of The Beatles, but occasionally you'll hear good stuff that sounds like them. Eva Cassidy does a great cover of Imagine, really makes the song her own.

A lot of bands have covered Imagine. Of course some are good and some are bad. I heard A perfect circle cover it and that was terrible but then i heard Saves the day or Eva Cassidy cover it and i was impressed. |
Yeah, The cover by APC is awful. It pissed me off very much.

Jet reminds me of the Beatles a little bit...I'm not sure why, but they do.
jet reminds me of the beatles/rolling stones/ACDC, they r trying to bring back the 60's sound, unfortuantly i dont think thats possible If only john lennon was alive ey, Oh speaking of john lennon, I'm only fourteen so i never got a chance to see any of them but wat was really bloody awesome was, there is this guy called John Walters and he used to do this show called Looking Through a Glass Onion, n in this show, he would impersonate John Lennon, he'd sing john lennon's songs AND speak monologs as if he was john lennon but it was early 90's and i was to young back then, but luckily he recently did a another show of it for the bealtes aniversary of touring AUS, I'm not sure if john walters toured outside of Australia,... 2 b contiued |

The best cover I've heard was by ELton John (he did it at the Lennon tribute concert in '90). One of the worst I've heard was Billy Preston's at the last Lennon tribute concert. |
I like the Beatles even though I normally prefer heavier music. They were rock music pioniers, and wrote more catchy tunes than any other band I know of. Truly classic rock.

Hey, who sings Back in the USSR? The vocals don't sound like the usual Beatles songs. I suppose Paul sang most of them and maybe Lennon sang Back in the USSR?
|
Back in the USSR is cool because its sort of a beach boys parody
|
Back in the USSR is cool because its sort of a beach boys parody
Hehe, the backup singing is very beach boy-esk. |
Hey, who sings Back in the USSR? The vocals don't sound like the usual Beatles songs. I suppose Paul sang most of them and maybe Lennon sang Back in the USSR?
John song most of their songs, although im not totally sure, my guess is that John was singing it. |
Eh? I'm almost positive thats Paul singing Back in the USSR. Lemme listen to it again...
Edit: I am 99.99% positive that it is Paul singing lead in Back in the USSR. |
yer its deff paul,
|
George was definitely rad, and very underlooked. His solo career is really incredible, and songs like Here Comes the Sun and Something are just incredible.
i agree, but dont forget the harrison song off of sgt pepper: within you without you. i love this song and everything about it. i think the lyrics were inspired buy a henry david thoreau piece, cos i read it in school and they were eerily similar. |
i have a wicked video clip of John Lennon (on rythem guitar) Eric Clapton (Lead) Keith Richards (Bass) and Mitch Mitchell (Drums) playing The Bealte's song "Yer Blues"
|
. I remember hearing about that lineup somewhere but I forget what the band's name was.
|
i'll check............ its says on the clip some where............ its sounds like Dirty Mack, or Dirty Mag, lol john is stonned off his face!
|
Man, you need to hook me up with that! What an awesome lineup.

Is that the Rolling Stone's Rock 'n Roll Circus? I want to see that so bad! Wow, what a lineup. Mitch Mitchell is one of my favorite drummers. Keith Richards on bass though? |
The biggest channel in Sweden (SVT1) is currently airing the George Harisson memorial concert. So those of you that have SVT1 should definetly turn it on :)
|
I must find that clip, no matter what.
|
I thought the Rolling Stones Rock 'n Roll circus was never completed? Maybe that clip was released anyways though. Regardless, that's such an amazing line up.
|
John song most of their songs, although im not totally sure, my guess is that John was singing it.
Wow, you don't know much. John sang most of them in the earlier days, but starting with Sgt. Pepper's, Paul got to sing most of them. Paul sang lead vocals on 8 songs in Sgt. Pepper's (inc. Day in the Life) whereas John sang 4 (inc. Day in the Life). And John just has a scant few on MMT. Pretty much, whoever wrote it, sang it. In the earlier days, however, it was just mostly all harmonies, and a lot of co-writing. |
Does anyone know where i can find some Silver Beatles audio?
|
I think that whoever sings the songs was the primary writer of them. I know that it always says lennon/mccartney, even if its a track like "Revolution 9" which was composed by John and Yoko, but some definatly seem like either john OR paul wrote them instead of both.
Its kinda strange how John sang so much in the earlier days. I think Paul has an incredible voice, that is probably better than John's, but I prefer John's high-pitched voice more George is hard to tell... maybe somewhere inbetween John and Paul |
the beetals ur gay
|
i think you ur gay

Keith Richards on bass though?
yep Richards on bass, n eric clapton was still in cream at the time, i think it is the rolling stone's rock n roll circus, because Mick Jagger is talking with John at the start n they are both stoned :naughty: |
Man, you need to hook me up with that! What an awesome lineup.
That i might b able to do, i just gotta find the attachment limmit of my email server... do u use hotmail? the file is 52.2Mbs so way to big to send over by email, but if u download "limewire" www.downloads.com or maybe its www.download.com and search Rolling Stone's Rock and Roll Circus, it will come up with John Lennon, Eric Clapton and the Hendrix Experiance band n thats what u want |
Awesome. Thanks a bunch, man.

the rock n roll circus wasnt released for a long time cause the mick thought the stones sounded horrible, and the other bands, especially the who, seemed to overshadow them. fortunately though it was realeased a couple o years ago and i saw it on amazon.com for 15 bucks. im plannin on buyin it soon enough it looks pretty awesome. btw, lennon clapton richards an mitchell are called the dirty mac. |
Man. I need to pick that up. That sounds like it would have been the coolest concert ever.
