Yeah, Jack Johnson is really big in Australia. It gets real boring real quick for me.
|
Meh, Jack Johnson is ok. "Flake" is a good song. But yeah, "camp-fire songs" is a pretty accurate description.
|
WAHOOOOOO!!!!!!!! Tangy's thread has reached 1000 replies!!!
*high 5's everyone in the world at the same time* |

ive been listenin to 3 bands lately all i saw at the boardwalk (sacramento cali)
1)lola ray: some songs are automatic girl, shes a tiger, our brown friends. the album/EP is I Dont Know You 2)pepper: a sweet band that sounds like sublime kinda but not live and songs are boot, stone love, tongues and dirty hot sex all off of the album kona town (their hawaiin n stuff) 3)THAT NEW SUM 41 SONG i hate sum 41 but this new song blows me away its all metal and stuff ya its we're all to blame if you havent heard it yet |
I'm getting very into lots of acoustic people like Ryan Adams, Elliott Smith, Nick Drake - all very good stuff.
|
I'm kinda trying to get into jazz right now. I'm really liking John Coltrane's "A Love Supreme".
|
^I've been wanting to get into jazz these days. I'll check Coltrane out. Jaco Pastorius/Weather Report as well.
Whoo.. I just finished my first album review(The Fall Of Troy's self titled).. took me long enough.:p |

You = the best. |
Yeah, Jack Johnson was alright. I only like "Flake" "Cupid" and "Bubbletoes", the rest of the songs are extremely boring. I had never heard of the 2 opening bands; G-Love and Donovon Frankenreader (I think?). I dunno, I don't even care what their names were, they both sucked.
Basically it was the only concert I've ever been too where I was so bored I wanted to go home, but, I went for my girlfriend... And she had a good time, so it's all good. :thumb: |
Eh, I used to dig some of G-Love's stuff. My favourite JJ song is Bubbletoes. :thumb:
|
I like Flake and Horizon has been defeated, but I don't like Bubbletoes.
Everyone should check out They Might Be Giants. Everything off of "Mink Car" is great. Esp. Cyclops Rock, I've Got a Fang, and She Thinks She's Edith Head. I also really dig that new band Skindred. (I think it's pronounces like "kindred" with an S at the beginning). That song "Nobody" is quite good. |
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Murder Ballads Has been declared Tangy Zizzle's Official Album of The Week
|
Lately I've really been digging Soweto String Quartet, especially their work on the Zebra Crossing album.
|
I've been getting heavily back into Ryan Adams' "Love is Hell". It's really bloody awesome stuff. I think I'm actually nearly liking it more than "Gold"... but maybe not.
|
I think it is much better than "Gold". I love it.
I've been listening constantly to: Missy Higgins, Coheed and Cambria, and Something For Kate. |
My favorite bands this week are:
Royal Trux Apples In Sterow The Fiery Furnaces |
recently I've been looking back at some 80s classics. Joy Division, The Smiths, and the like...fantastic stuff
dude, are you trying to depress yourself enuff to kill yourself??!!! |
I'm listening to my Jade Tree comp. again. Girls Against Boys + Denali(<3)
|
Getting majorly into Eve 6 - wahoo! I am also currently reviewing Horrorscope, expect it to be posted by the end of the evening. Gotta love self-advertising.
|

Muse last night was the best thing ever.

I was supposed to be going to see Muse a few days ago, but then the universe conspired against me.
Oh well. |

The Spill Canvas is a band that has been introduced to me by Jon (bleedthesky) and i must say it is some of the most enjoyable acoustic stuff i have listened to in a long while
|
^I discovered The Spill Canvas on smartpunk and they're ok. Haven't heard much stuff about them though.
I'm random-band browsing on epitonic, and Low and The Swans have caught my attention.. |
Now I'm liking Blonde Redhead-Misery Is A Butterfly, great song. I'll be researching about them the next few days. *delighted*
Ok so heres a semi-new idea for a thread. Basically, you just post what ever song, album or artist you have really been liking at the moment. If it's a new band you could put a little bit about them, good songs etc...
So if this works well enough, we could maybe get it sticky'd ( Nacho? ). Well, a cool new(ish) band I've been listening to alot lately is These Arms Are Snakes . They are a post-hardcore,art punky band who have one EP out called This is Mean to Hurt You. Good songs to check out would be: The Blue Rose Drinking From the Necks of Loved Ones Run it Through the Dog Riding the Grape Dragon --------------------------------------- I have been listening to Neil Young's Rust Never Sleeps alot lately and have come to the conclusion that it is my favourite Neil Young album. Definately check it out! --------------------------------------- Television - Friction is one incredible song. Ahead of it's time. If you guys think this is a shitty idea for a thread just say so. If not, update with new stuff whenever you feel the need.
TELEVISION'S AWESOME! But no, haven't been listening to them! *LOL* I've rediscovered a great band called Toad the Wet Sprocket. Listening to the album Fear. Also, Carlos Santana and Mahavishnu John McLaughlin's Love, Devotion, Surrender. Great stuff there, too. |
I'm loving Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds right now. Got their best of today, it's tasty.
Also digging Missy Higgins. I got her CD today, it's delicious. |
Woah man, those are the two artists I've been digging today.
I'm also currently spinning the "Lost in Translation" soundtrack. Best soundtrack ever. |
why dont you listen to them again before u go dissing them. you only heard them at a show. donavon blows jack out of the water.
Only heard them at a show? Yeah, he played for 45 minutes. I'm pretty sure I got a decent idea of what he's like... boring. |
I've been liking The Bends lately. I'm trying to listen to more guitar music, I'm getting over electronica a bit.
|
Low and Blonde Redhead!!<3 (even if I've only heard one song from both, haha)
|
The Shins
The Modern Lovers I'm really getting into The Shins lately, they rock. \m/ |
Now I'm liking Blonde Redhead-Misery Is A Butterfly, great song. I'll be researching about them the next few days. *delighted*
Their music took me a surprising amount of time to get into. I found it a bit boring and repetetive at first, but after going back to some of their stuff, I really like it. Lately, I've been listening to a lot of Mogwai, Explosions in the Sky, and Bright Eyes. |
iv been really into bedouin soundclash. and fake cops.
