why do -core and metal fans dwell on genres so much?
|
Nemesis: check out La Quiete dude :)
****ing page turn . |
production on that album is GREAT. makes it RAW, bro.
|
if the first three tracks don't get you into that record, then you should just turn it off and maybe approach something like City of Caterpillar or uh.. Envy.
they seem to be other good HEAVY HITTERS for people that aren't coming from a hardcore perspective and aren't used to that kind of simplicity in production and ideas.
I already know Envy, they're great. I'll download a Hot Cross album tomorrow, I'm still trying to get over CTTS. NP: Kill The Switch
Yeah. The production on that album bugs me now. edit: also Gospel can really get people into the genre. But yeah the first three tracks on Cryonics are so good.
I've heard Gospel, pixies sent me The Moon Is A Dead World a while back. Awesome CD. |
No, tons of death metal is very riff oriented, as it stemmed from thrash, son.
As for breakdowns, Suffocation, Cryptopsy, Cannibal Corpse, Blood Red Throne, Iniquity, etc. The breakdown in Masturbatory is nothing like a metalcore breakdown, and breakdowns in metalcore are a metal element to begin with. I personally like what Ross and Andrew are writing, and neither of them are into metalcore. :)
Well if they're not into it then to be honest it's just death metal made by guys who really don't understand what decent death metal sounds like |
How much death metal do you listen to, honestly? More specifically, how much NYDM?
I may have made ignorant statements when I was first getting into screamo, but honestly, neither of you know what you're talking about when it comes to metal in the slightest.
I think I got into emo first ayway but the first screamo band I could really enjoy was like City of Caterpillar
omg I'm listening to them right now. |
production on that album is GREAT. makes it RAW, bro.
so ****ing RAW man. I dunno some of the songs sound sort of weird. Its the same deal with Risk Revival for me although a bit different. |
How much death metal do you listen to, honestly? More specifically, how much NYDM?
I've heard enough to know what interesting death metal sounds like and what boring death metal sounds like You seem to have this complex where you like to doubt others' knowledge of genres whenever they criticize something you're into, you should probably let it go already |
It's pretty hilarious that somebody who's so obsessed with jacking off to their supposed knowledge of music could actually say a band is metalcore because they have breakdowns.
breakdowns are a derivative of hardcore. this is fact. yes, death metal is riff oriented. but you aren't playing the riffs in the way that they are usually used in death metal. listen to something like Gorguts and Cryptopsy and there is nothing similar to parts in your band's sound. if you want to talk about Cannibal Corpse, you are a faggot. |
Breakdowns in hardcore are usually completely different from breakdowns in metal though.
And Gorguts as your example of standard death metal is very lol. Once more, listen to some New York Death Metal, if you want to get to what our guitarists are influenced by. |
there are other ****ing threads for that ****.
|
I like arguing with kids who are completely wrong though. :(
|
listen to some good death metal if you want to not be criticized for being a shitty typical death metal band.
breakdowns in metal can't be different from breakdowns in hardcore because breakdowns are defined as one thing. if a band is playing music with breakdowns they are inherently inspired by hardcore, as it is something that has risen out of that scene. just like if someone is using guttural vocals, they are inherently inspired by death metal. |
Uh, dude, I'm a hell of a lot more familiar with death metal than you ever will be.
|
neat. sucks that your band still manages to be the most trite example of the genre ever.
|
Yeah, but we're not trying to be groundbreaking, we're just trying to get drunk to play some good ol' death metal.
And you're still completely missing the point that I don't write any of the music. And my bandmates are a hell of a lot less boring and petty than you. :) |
hey guys
nobody cares |
truth.
|
omg you argued against me, you clearly care.
|
Lets namedrop more obscure shitty bands people.
