New Maiden Topic....
1. what do you think are IM's most "cheesy power metal type" songs? 2. what do you think are IM's most "dark and evil" sounding songs? 3. what (in your opinion) IM songs have your favourite guitar solos? 4. which (in your opinion) IM album have the most filler tracks? (if any!!!) |

another Somewhere im Time fan i see :) lol and to Flappersac, i LOVE Fear of the Dark...but some of the tracks "childhoods end" "judas be my guide" are good, but not some of my favouites. :) |
Children of the Dam-ned is a good "dark and evil" song, but strangely enough, Number of the Beast is only dark lyric-wise. The music isn't very threatening itself.

Ok gotcha ;) not my favourite album either but i still think its brilliant :D Dunno if this has been mentioned before in this forum but im sure many people hear at the end of songs (any band) players talking or dropping instruments etc. haha. Just wondering if anyone has noticed if someone has heard the band talking at the end of a song - The last track of brave new world, the thin line between love and hate(awesome song), i heard nicko mcbrain talking, well i think its him. After the epic song ends(make sure volume is up) i can easily hear one of the members saying "oh i f*cking missed it" and the other maiden members laughing and repeating this comment. I found this to be quite amusing :D go listen for yourself unless you already knew that and i just wasted my time :upset: |
^^^^
actually "no prayer for the dying" and "fear of the dark" were the first two studio Iron Maiden albums i got. i think "here to eternity" and "mother russia" alone got me obsessed with the band :) |
I have fear of the dark :) i have all maiden cds but a couple of live ones and the blaze era....and please kill me I DONT HAVE NO PRAYER FOR THE DYING!
poor me. Btw seventh son and piece of mind are my favourites ;) anyway all people look at my previous comment (before this one) |
Before yesterday i could not have said 'I have fear of the dark', but now i can. :D
I was really surprised why people think it is sub par. While not being Seventh Son, it's still iron maiden! :D |
^^^^
Yeah man! fear of the dark rocks! It has Afraid to shoot strangers!!! My favourite maiden song :D Amazing album. I cant decide if i like Brave new world or dance of death more. Yes i have both and i cherish them...just which is better? btw the thin line between love and hate on BNW has an amazing vocal part(although all bruces stuff blows me away) where in the pre chorus he says "i will hope, my soul will fly...etc" :thumb: |
Personally i prefer Brave New World, but they're still both great albums.

What?! fills? Powerslave dont sound like it have alot of "Album fillers" i would say that Fear of the Dark or no prayer for the dying have the most of them... |

i'm listening to iced earth's cover of hallowed be thy name, and it's actulally quite good.
better than cradle of filth's version anyway. |
I dont Have "Virtual XI" and i have been an Maiden fan for 2 yrs... i should try to get it... but no one have it... i have the same problem with Megadeth - Rust in Peace
I have Rust in peace, its one of my favourite albums.
But hey, does anyone know the future of iron maiden? are they thinking of making another album in future years? Iron maiden has never let me down with new releases (even though ive only been a fan for 2 years*sorry*) im just hoping they never go down the metallica path - saint anger, or should i say saint joke :D Yes so, two things: 1. Future of maiden? 2 and also, who has heard dickinsons solo work? \m/ |
i very much doubt they will go down the same path as metallica, maiden have steve harris, metallica dont... harris use to stand for what he belive... and they have promised another album...(well, Dickinson Have)
i have heard his solo work, Great stuff! |
Iron Maiden will continue to kick ***, as demonstrated by Dance of Death and BNW, and will never go the way of Metallica. If they do, I'll be very sad indeed.
And Bruce's solo work is quite great as far as I have heard. |
Maiden's future looks more than bright, with the direction that "brave new world" and "dance of death" i am 110% assured that their albums to come will be just as memorable and wonderful additions to the Iron Maiden cataloge.
Bruces solo work, he has some good stuff. I like "a chemical wedding" best because i enjoy Adrian's guitar work on it, i found "Skunkworks" to be rather dull, and earlier works like "tatooted millionare" i also liked, but its VERY hard to listen to his voice not backed by the sound of Iron Maiden. |
What?! fills? Powerslave dont sound like it have alot of "Album fillers"
i would say that Fear of the Dark or no prayer for the dying have the most of them...
Yeah but I don't own either of those. I think any album Iron Maiden album coming out in the near future will be well worth the price, as BNW was one of their best ever, and DOD had some great moments. |
anybody have heard of the blaze rant from chile 96? anybody wanna see the vid? Steve almost scares me in it....
http://www.firestormrock.co.uk/downloads/blaze%20gets%20mad.wmv Dont Mess with THE MESSIAH!!! |
Ah, i am eternally greatful for iron maiden and steve harris - musical titan (greeks believed titans were more powerful than the gods) also im not greek. my girlfriend is half greek though.:D (irrelevant) AH that brings up a new topic. I became an iron maiden fan a couple of years ago and since then i turned a couple of my mates and my girlfriend(also my best friend) into maiden fans. I'm building up an army - join me on my quest! oh yeah, that reminds me. Moron in my class - "iron maiden sucks man, they are soooo poppy. rage against the machine is so much better" me - "how many iron maiden songs have you heard" moron - "one" A week later this doofus tells me he loves iron maiden after hearing some. btw sorry for posting often irrelevant posts* up the irons!! \m/ |
^^^
thats very relevant man! turning on people to Iron Maiden is great, ive gotten a handful of my friends into them and they said their lives have improved due to being Iron Maiden fans :) as for album fillers....No Prayer for the Dying i dont see any filler tracks, but Fear of the dark has some weaker ones towards the end of the album. |
they said their lives have improved due to being Iron Maiden fans
thats awesome - i can understand why. Iron maidens music suites all sorts of moods like if your energetic or want to relax etc. I was wondering what other bands fellow iron maiden fans like. My favourite bands : Iron maiden(of course), Alice Cooper, Megadeth, Van Halen, Rhapsody, and the mighty judas priest :D |
In addition to Iron Maiden, I also like Steve Vai. Oh and Metallica too. They're awesome.
