My last.fm thing

That's a pretty good picture of what I listen to, except it doesn't take the length of tracks into accout. For example, I could listen to Bach's Goldberg variations which consist of 32 pieces for piano of duration about 50 mins. I could then listen to Beethoven's Symphony No.3, also about 50 mins but it would only register 4 plays. So you can see its not perfect.
That happens with a lot with non-classical stuff as well, so yeah, I think many of us know how annoying it can be.

the2stranger 12-03-2005 08:00 AM

Lastfm doesn't like (neo)classical or progressive stuff :p

I can't last.fm to download. Whenever the Audioscrobbler thing starts downloading, it says "Please close iTunes and try again." But iTunes is already closed.

It's probably running without you noticing then.

I think I'm gonna go to a music store, look at some guitars. Just for fun.

I'm envious. I wish there was a music store around me.

That reminds me, my guitar desperately needs new strings.

I have this local one that I buy all my strings from..But when I go try out guitars, which I will do soon, I go a little further in Montreal. A bigger store with lots of stuff.

I usualy use 10 - 46, but Im in E flat a lot so my bro told me to try out 11 - 48's.

Shadows 12-03-2005 09:47 AM

I use .11-.48 all the time. Most of the music I play is tuned rather low and I hate the feel of light trings downtuned. It does make playing in standard a little tough though.

Oh, thats what I didnt want happening, standard being to tight. When I play in E flat with regular gauge and my bro thinks its loose as hell but Im okay with it.

But Il try them out and see which I like most..

Shadows 12-03-2005 09:53 AM

For E flat I say stick with the .10's. Those are good until you start tuning into C or anything lower. Using .11's when you tune that high isn't too tight, but it gets pretty difficult when you try to bend strings.

Ah ok. I never go lower then E flat. Unless I go and have fun playing along with some Arch Enemy, Which is sometihng I havnt done in a while.

Toaster 12-03-2005 10:10 AM

I use .60s on my one guitar, tuned drop-D down to A. (I dubbed it Nile Guitar) :D

Shadows 12-03-2005 10:15 AM

 .60's? Your high E is nearly twice as heavy as a standard size low E?

Yea like when I listen to an hour of Pink Floyd and I get 6 or 7 songs, but an hour of Beatles songs could be like 20. It kinda messes it up, but whatever.

I think you know what I meant.

That's what I thought you meant. Usually the guage is signified by the high E string. I'd like to get myswlf something that heavy anyway, as me and a friend would like to start a grind project.

the2stranger 12-03-2005 11:21 AM

ugh
thus guitar talk is keeping people away from posting

I'm eating onion soupe right now, people will be crying tonight if I bring them Beethoven 5 th symphony via the anal orchestra

that's why iI hate online bidding sites, it's not about who bids the most, but about who has the quickest browser, so that they can outbid you for a few cents on the last seconds of the auction

Shadows 12-03-2005 11:55 AM

At least I was able to score my Shadows Fall vinyl on there.

Yep, my parents had words with me about that afterwards.

Well, if you bid £20 more than they can afford to pay, then it doesn't really matter how fast their browser is. I know what you mean, though.

Why? Bid without their permission, or something? Or bid far, far too much?

I've gotten plenty of stuff - mostly Wildhearts related, I think - from eBay, anyway. Being outbid at the last second is always annoying, though.

Lord Abortion 12-03-2005 12:36 PM

I'm going to set up my E-bay account in a few days, I could never be bothered beofre.

I really want this Dream Theater Bootleg I saw...
