Ah, well I haven't seen them live yet.
|
Don't, according to Bobo The Raging Hobo, he runs out of breath and loses his voice, and according to live files I downloaded, Bobo's accusations are true.
|
Ah, well I haven't seen them live yet.
They are a good live act though. In all fairness. |
Ollie (Lord Abortion) saw them at Download i think, he said they were a pretty good live act.
|
I saw them before everyone started bumming them and got loads of pictures with the band stuff. They were class. This was just after the new album came out.
|
hopefully they will lose their metalcore influences and give their guitarists real solols*
my only complaint with Ascendancy |

They are good, just not Heafy's vocals. |
They are good, just not Heafy's vocals.
I actually love Heafy's vocals... his scream grew on me, I love his half sing/half scream he pulls out only a few times on the album, sounds like Hetfield a little. The vocal harmonies they do in the choruses are kind of cool, I'm not sure if that is only Heafy though |
I'm not much of a scream fan, but I enjoy matts vocals Ithink he sould
stop screaming and leave that to the rest of the band but you know that's just me |

I'm not saying that he is a bad vocal writer, I'm saying that he's a bad vocalist. He does everything incorrectly. |
He does scream badly
He won't have a voice by the time He's 25 |
That's so true, want to know why? He closes his throat to create rasp rather than leaving his throat open and pushing air to the back of his throat. I can't even imagine how many horrible horrible sore throats that man gets, because let me tell you, when you scream incorrectly long enough, you cannot speak properly for at least two days and then it hurts for about a week... then you have someone like him who does it for a living.... ouch, it makes me feel horrible for Jesse Leach, and horrible to a lesser degree for Matt Shadows.
|
I think shadows is gonna be okay now...he can't break much more then he
already has. Matt on the other hand needs some help. I've even heard him say that his voice hurts. IN this one concert he's like "Does everyone elses voice hurt as much as mine does?" God please stop matt |
Yeah, seriously. He should just have a conversation with one of the old regs from the Jam Session (Merkaba-1) that man gave the perfect step by step description on screaming correctly.
|
Yeah, seriously. He should just have a conversation with one of the old regs from the Jam Session (Merkaba-1) that man gave the perfect step by step description on screaming correctly.
yeah hopefully he's careful with that |
Definately, because pretty soon: bamf agh blood going all over his microphone, horrible wretching and stabbing pain in the vocal chords.
|
Well you know it's gonna happen...just when?
|
So I'm learning ascendancy and the end of everything.
anyone else learning Trivium stuff?
Yeah i sat down for about 2 minutes yesterday and tried to learn Ember to inferno, but after that long realised i couldn't be bothered learning that lick. "Everyone nominate matt in the top vocalists"...... No because despite his ability with guitar, he's not a good live vocalist, im not saying he's bad, but there are 100 out there better than him. Nominate him in the top 100 song writer's thread if there ever is one. I worry about Heafy, I've seen early footage of them live and his vocals sounded ok. However lately i've noticed his voice is already starting to degrade because of his noob approach to screaming. |
It's really sad tha everyone is just letting him do it too
|
Well, when I first purchased Ascendancy, I liked it...
After listening to it seven times, I want to burn it and feed the remnants to the dogs...I'm not sure why I haven't yet. Every time I try to listen to it, my rating of it goes down .5 points. It started out a 4.5, then went to a 4, then to a 3.5, then went to a 3, and now it's a 1.5. |
heh, funny, I enjoy it after each and every listen...
|

Oh man, that was not a pretty picture. |

I agree, when I've seen them play live there's always a great atmosphere and he's a great frontman but his voice isn't the greatest. I notice it even more when I see live videos. I guess that might be a reason why he gets the crowd to sing the chorus' of songs so often, he can't do it very well himself. |

Or you can watch the zen of screaming. |
That makes no sense, you either like an album or you don't
Yeah, I don't get the thought process. "Oh I liked the album the first time, but now I don't I just want to throw it away blablabla"...what the hell made you like it the first time and then hate it more and more you listened to it? |
Yeah so "Falling to Grey" is my favorite song at the moment.
|
Because other people started to like it I would of thought
yeah, that could be it... Heh, anyone seen the "Gunshot" video yet? I thought it was kinda...well..lame  It would have been better if they had some kinda concept to it instead of just playing the whole time then having the fans rise up when they do the "HEY! HEY! HEY!" interlude...that just made me laugh for some reason... |
Haha, yes Trevor, that video is quite the lamezorz.
Or you can watch the zen of screaming.
True enough. Merkaba's whole write-up is how I learned to though :thumb:. |
Yeah, you gotta scream through the stomach, not the throat...it hurts way less and projects the scream better :)
|
Screaming through the stomach isn't necessary, that is just one of the many methods, the throat is the most important part though. You use your throat to create rasp, you use your throat to protect your vocal chords. By using your throat I mean using it to funnel air to creat rasp, don't ever close your throat.
btw. Inhale screaming owns all. |
