You've got "Old School Hollywood" and "Lost in Hollywood" mixed up. The first one is the one about Tony Danza cutting in line, and the other one is the album's last track that's very mellow and ballad-like.
Also, anyone who thinks SOAD is just getting popular now must not remember the Chop Suey! phase of their career very well
Yea you're right. Old School Hollywood is one I think that's cheesy and stuff and lost in hollywood is ok. And I loved chop suey and still do. :upset: |
It seems that I always notice the new trend, before everybody else.
Yeh either that or you have decent taste in music, therefore not relying on radio or MTV to give their approval, like the teeny boppers atyour school. Or thats just me..... But yeh that annoys me aswell.... |
It's officially happened. Everyone at my school loves BYOB. Discovering it months after its release. Just hearing them say ''You heard that new Systems of the down song everybody goin to the party have a real good time? SOOOO COOL!'' makes me jeer. But at least they like it. That chorus ALWAYS gets me going.
It's only been out for one month and ten days, and since it's on the radio, MTV, and even a performance on Saturday Night Live, what's so surprising that people at school have heard them? They heard "Spiders" and "Sugar" in 1998 and "Chop Suey!" and "Aerials" in 2001, so what's the big deal? System of a Down is popular! |
Soad is a very strange band, but none the less they rock.
|
What songs does it have on it? I've never heard of it.
The demo had more death metal type versions of Soil, War?, and Peep-Hole. Serjs grunts were more like Suffocation/Opeth style and the production sounded deeper/grittier. I actually liked the versions on that demo MUCH more than the albums versions. Sadly, I have since lost my tape and have been unable to track down another copy or even proof that anyone outside of my area had them! |

I'm speechless.............................Why did you loose it?!?!?!? Sorry for your loss. That sounds SOOOOOOOOO awesome. I'm going to check Ebay, and bunch of other crap, and see if I can get a hold of it. That sounds really cool. |

System of a Down is popular!
It's not surprising, more of 'You used to tell me to turn this band off at a party and now you love them' irony. Not one of those people like Sugar! :upset: It's a hard thing to explain over the internet. |
SOAD were great at download :) First time i've seen them were they haven't been obviously on drugs
|
I reccomend the first album to anyone who doesn't have it. I find it much more 'pure', not some watered down crap.
/cant explain
yes ::100% agree:: The self titled rocks, and they seem not very afraid to mention whatever they want in there. The other albums are good, but I think that they've weeded out their original more political sense. Suggestions and pluck, I believe are by far their best songs. |
I just got mesmerize the other day and its not a bad album. I prefer there other ones but Radio/Video, Violent pornography. Wait, what am I saying! EVery Soad song ever created is beautiful and I can't wait for hypnotize and when I see them on tour im gonna die. Hence the avatar.

Sorry for my absence guys, My computer died and I've had to replace so much that its basically a new computer.
I cant record yet now, But I should have my soundcard back up by the end of this week/middle of next Have we decided on what songs where doing? We really need to enter ourselfs in the offical thread thats all.. And to the above few posts, I have all 4 (not 3, 4!) and there not what I'd describe as death metal, sure there different to the albums but nothign like death metal. |
I stand corrected. His growls were much more DM than the yelling he did on the debut and every album since, agreed?
|
Yeah I agree He was more growly back then :thumb:

|

Toxicity is probably the most accesible, so would be good for a first album. however The self titled album is extremely good, as with their other albums, and Steal this album. You cant really go wrong in my eyes. |
Have you guys all decided on who's doing what on your entry in the Cover Contest thing yet? Cos if not, i'd be happy to play guitar. I'll post my cover of chop suey up later, see if you like it.
|
Im new here.. SoaD is my favorite band, and have been that for 4 years now. I saw them live at the Norwegian Wood, and it was so sick.. Best moment of my life.. So, who is doing these covers?
|
It needs to be desided so I can post it in the official topic(if its still around) but no ones really said anything as far as an official list..
As far as I've gathered: Vocals: (No one yet) Backing Vocals: (No one yet) Guitar: Jmann Bass: Skit Drums: (No one as of yet... possibly Skit) Confirmed Songs: Forest, Soil, Violent Pornography I guess we could have more than one guitarist or something? Or maybe it could come down to who can play it the best/get the best tone thats closest to the original. If you could both post a sample of what you can do (prefarably a SOAD song) that'd be great (Jmann I missed your original post and the links expired) |

where can i download it from??? i alwayd download from Lime wWire which practically always has something new,but it had nothing from Hypnotize... so any ideas where... |
Skit, you guys haven't gotten so far with the cover. Go ask in the guitar forums for someone who would play for you, and you should do that with the other people you need as well. Just ask in the according section. I'm sure that you will find someone.
