In my opinion all these pop rock alternative bands hardly posess talent and I would like an explanation why so many people like them.
Because they can sing, don't play every possible note on the guitar in every song, don't say "bitch" every 5 words, and don't wear balloon pants.

10571z 05-13-2005 03:06 AM

and actually talk about real issues other than a stairways to heaven, sandman's and puppets on the end of strings...

The only Blink 182 song I have been able to listen to is Carousel, mainly cause it actually shows they have some instrumental ability, anything similar to this song anyone can suggest I take a listen to?

plaidbassbilly 05-13-2005 06:12 AM

Blink songs that show they have instrumental ability? How about all of them?

M+M's
Enthused
Peggy Sue
Pathetic
I'm Sorry
Boring
Going Away to College
What's My Age Again
Time
Life Is Boring (actually this is an all instrumental demo)
Wendy Clear
Anthem Pt.1 and Pt.2
Story of A Lonely Guy
What Went Wrong
Asthenia
I'm Lost Without You
Letters to Elise (Cure Cover)

That's about all I can think of as far as being instrumentally good. Actually pretty much all of Cheshire Cat will demonstrate this. There are probably more, but that's all I felt like listing.

Pazz 05-13-2005 01:12 PM

I would recommend Letter to Elise(Off that list).
and actually talk about real issues other than a stairways to heaven, sandman's and puppets on the end of strings...
hmmm..I think I shalt somewhat defend that dude/person..

What exactly is a real issue to you? To be honest alot of metal isn't just all this screaming and being stupid that alot of people think it is. Did you ever think that alot of these songs talk about something else, or that they have a message behind them? I will say for example "The Clansman"-Iron Maiden, this song is basicly about ancient medievil Scotland..but there is a message behind it, that one thing in live that is worth fighting and dying for is freedom.

I shalt go on with a few more examples, but seeing as Iron Maiden is the only metal band I listen to often enough thats all I can use for examples. In the song "Run To The Hill's" isn't about just a "non-real" issue. They sing about how "white" people came across from the old world and just took over America. The killed the native's and bribed them with liquor and other things. They gave indian's the bad name they have today. All metal isn't just bashing your head.

Sorry about the slight ranting on about nothing..haha.

And you forgot reebok commercial.

10571z 05-13-2005 06:06 PM

reebok commercial solo sounds pretty sweet...

hey we have almost caught up to the sum41 thread horray for us
to be honest with you, im not really a fan of online songs, my favourite toypaj song is anthem pt2, that always gets me into the mood to mosh :thumb:
ya, that's my favorite song on that album too - i wasn't saying online songs is my favorite song on that album i was just saying it is a really good song (like most of Blink's songs)

Stew_Blink 05-13-2005 06:19 PM

Online Song is actually a rather annoying song, except I love the part where it goes "Na na na na na na na na na na (I just forgot you were there)" it sounds really cool.

plaidbassbilly 05-13-2005 07:16 PM

Yeah, when I first heard Online Songs I didn't like it, but know I really do. The "na na na" bit is cool.

Stew_Blink 05-13-2005 07:18 PM

Aye, it sure is. It's just about the only good part of the song if you ask me, that and the intro (You Weren't The Only 1, 2, 3, 4)

10571z 05-13-2005 07:45 PM

yeh i didnt like online songs when i first heard it but then grew to love it

plaidbassbilly 05-13-2005 07:59 PM

I thought it was clever how it sounds like he's saying "You weren't the only one" but he's also saying 1,2,3,4.

Pazz 05-13-2005 08:30 PM

Quit talking about that song. It's making me want to listen to it because I haven't listened to it in a few weeks...

/goes and downloads it

I don't think it's about us not respecting metal. I admit it's not really my thing, and I don't really like it, but I still respect metal musicians and people who like it. I got pissed (and I'm sure everyone else did) because of a stupid moron coming in here and well... being a stupid moron.

Anyways...
Online songs is good, but I think TOYPAJ is their widest ranging album when it comes to quality. There are some really good songs on there, and then some *ahem* not so good ones. For example, (might get flamed, but oh well) I really don't like First Date at all.

plaidbassbilly 05-14-2005 07:15 AM

I don't like Give Me One Good Reason very much off that album.

10571z 05-14-2005 07:36 AM

yer there good songs but not as good as dude ranch and enema i was expecting alot more.

plaidbassbilly 05-14-2005 07:39 AM

I don't know if it was the same with you guys, but I absolutely hated the self titled when it first came out. I didn't listen to it for about a month after I first heard it. Now it's one of my favourite albums of all time.
