That's what I try to do. I wanna make music with so much intense emotion, that you actually get the exact feeling I'm trying to put across. But, I'm not quite there yet, at all in my opinion.

But yeah, I get that feeling from bands like -

- Sigur Ros
- Pig Destroyer
- Mastodon
- Radiohead
- Isis (sometimes)

I love that stuff though. You get tons of chills when listening to their songs and stuff.

and beside that, i too want to make rather music which is "easy" to play but hits you full emotionally... for me THIS is the purpose of making music, not showing off how good you can play guitar. the only sad thing is that most ppl i know think the other way round.

I'm glad you guys liked the Lacrimas Profundere album. I must warn you though, that was the last album that would fall in the doom genre. After Burning: A Wish, they went in a more goth rock direction.

I know a lot of pieces of fast music that hit me just as hard as the slower ones, such as Jason Becker's "Air," John Coltrane's "Giant Steps," or either of the solos in "Buckethead" by Colonel Claypool's Bucket of Bernie Brains. It's not really about how simple or difficult it is, it's about the notes that are being played and the manner in which they are done so. Hell, even the wankage parts in "Acid Rain" by Liquid Tension Experiment get me more than a lot of music.


But to get back on topic, has anybody here heard of Boris? They're a Japanese drone/stoner/psychadelic band, named after a Melvins song. It's some pretty moving stuff. My favorite album is probably [i]Amplifier Worship[/i], one of their drone albums.

Like that guy after you said, it's not how difficult or easy it is, it's just how you can relate to it.

And I get that alot, the Pig Destroyer thing. People are like "You think THIS is the most emotional album you've ever heard?!?!?!?!". But I can relate to it so good, and yeah, I'll stop before I go into a huge, huge rant :p

I've only heard Dolorian. I have the s/t and have heard some stuff off of When All The Laughter Is Gone. I like them quite a bit. They have very good lyrics. Even though every song has about 10 lines of them haha.

my favorites are st.vitus, electric wizard, isis, place of skulls, mdb, and centrifuge i guess.

Yeah I've heard a bit of the Nortt. The atmosphere is awesome but it's not really heavy. Just fuzz.

Not all is lost; I discovered that if you play Skepticism at low volume the guitar is just thick fuzz, but pump up the volume and it suddenly crushes everything.
