Yeah, it was a valuable effort from us two, sauce medals will undoubtedly be awarded at the next sauce awards :thumb:

PaulSimonon 03-01-2005 03:48 PM

I think I shall buy a 6er.

fatbandit 03-01-2005 03:48 PM

Alas, if only the sauce awards were real. Then, and only then would we both become kings among men. Or possibly just the horribly disfigured.

Hmm... I'll remember. I'll wait and bide my time, then BAM! A few months time, that big Ketchup picture, it shall surface in this thread with no warning, and no explanation, and lo, the world shall know it was my work (possibly because I'll be the one posting it)

Good lad! 6er's own!

Sauce shall return, don't consider it dead! *swishes cloak in mysterious way and walks off into the mist in an equally mysterious way*

Paul=questions

How was the jump between a 4 and a 6er?
Do you play your four anymore (provided it shares time with the 6er.)?
Can you slap a sixer, and could you do it right from the start?
Can you find strings for the high C easily enough?

fatbandit 03-01-2005 03:59 PM

I own a 5, and I don't know if this will help, but I'll comment. Its close to a 6...

The jump was easy, took a couple days to be playing fine, to realise the B isn't your E and things like that...
I don't play my four anymore, just because when I write, I use the extra string, so I'd be at a disadvantage without it. Plus, it just has more options for me.
I can't slap anyway, but I find it harder on a 5, because of the string spacing. Many people would say otherwise though.
I don't know about the C, but I find it very hard getting a 135 B for some reason.

neal_672 03-01-2005 04:00 PM

Pretty simple, took a few days of getting used to.
Yes i do when i can't be arsed with the 6er's wider neck/want to play a song requiring only 4 strings/band practice/gigs.
Yes
I wouldn't know, i'd just order from the net when i need a new set... But these are elixirs so i should be able to make 'em last...

PaulSimonon 03-01-2005 04:02 PM

Thanks a lot guys! I think I will. I'll be trying some out tomorrow.

peeted 03-01-2005 04:02 PM

i just got a 6er and can help u there

the jump was harder than i expected it to be but you get used to it
i still play my 4 sometimes, many dont tho
i can slap my 6 string, its harder than on a 4 string tho
still on 1st set of strings

IV PULLED A TENDON ON MY FINGER, THE TOPS GONE PURPLE AND ITS SO SWOLEN I CANT BEND IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OWWWW!!!!!

PaulSimonon 03-01-2005 04:04 PM

I'm actually pretty stoked about it right now.....

I hope I don't pull a tendon though.... :upset:

PaulSimonon 03-01-2005 04:06 PM

Time to map out a 6er's fretboard patters so I can groove when I try them out.

fatbandit 03-01-2005 04:08 PM

Anybody tune a 6 string guitar BEADGC? Isn't it more logical? I could be wrong.

neal_672 03-01-2005 04:12 PM
Anybody tune a 6 string guitar BEADGC? Isn't it more logical? I could be wrong.
Wouldn't that just make it a Baritone?

peeted 03-01-2005 04:12 PM

eadgbe is easier for chords and just playing in general tho, im tempted to tune my 6 string like that

PaulSimonon 03-01-2005 04:14 PM
Anybody tune a 6 string guitar BEADGC? Isn't it more logical? I could be wrong.
Guitars are crazy, between drop d people and the EADGBE tuning.....

fatbandit 03-01-2005 04:17 PM

It would affect chords I suppose. You'd have to find a new way of playing them. Basically, from the little guitar I know, and all the chords, I wouldn't be able to transfer it across to that tuning. Maybe it would be better for lead players though? Wouldn't it make scales easier to play without the different tuning from the G-B strings, unlike the first four?

mister_tee 03-01-2005 04:26 PM

I guess it might. But then this might not be the right forum for that kind of question, cos I for one know absolutely nothing about guitars, not counting that which overlaps onto bass...

Spaceman Spiff 03-01-2005 04:36 PM

Crap, I didn't get my NIN tickets during the presale.
I'll need to wait until Friday for the official sale. :(

kilian 03-01-2005 04:38 PM
Anybody tune a 6 string guitar BEADGC? Isn't it more logical? I could be wrong.
No, you won't be able to play half of the chords so easy as they are now..

For example: the open chords, barree, ska/reggea chords..
And ofcourse: scales.. All different :thumb:

EADGBE is good..

Jaded 03-01-2005 04:42 PM
