The... Bible?

gaslight 10-01-2009 03:22 AM

I can only think of fiction that is Greek mythology rather than modern fiction that is based on it :(.

Mark Chadbourn had a cool series based on Celtic mythology but that isn't what you asked for.

funkyhoney 10-01-2009 03:36 AM

I need a new book. Might go to the shop tomorrow after I get off my arse and get a haircut.
Anyone know any good fiction novels based around Greek mythology?
Honestly, essentially anything from the Bible to Shakespeare and Spenser to Wychrely to Melville and Hawthorne to Barth, Faulkner, Woolf, etc.

You see where I'm going with this.

For the most part, I just think you need to read Vonnegut books.

Or:

This is my favorite book ever. Absolutely incredible. Hilarious, biting satire that jumps off the page and strangles you. A damn good story, too, and its prose was revolutionary.

*surprised no one's got the joke in my location yet*

I don't mind Vonnegut.

So, that Squier neck fit perfectly. I'm really excited now. It's in great condition. I'm going to try to find some paint to paint a matching headstock (or should I make the headstock black?). Yay

gaslight 10-01-2009 09:48 AM

Matching headstock is awesome where possible, otherwise I'd go for natural wood look.

fatbandit 10-01-2009 09:51 AM

if its maple, then maple headstocks look nice anyway

It has the Squier logo on it, which is something I'd like to get rid of, because I want to put my own logo on it. It's got slightly darker maple finish (kind of like the vintage color), so if I just sand the headstock, I wont be able to match it - I'd have to do a whole neck re-finish.

Would the black headstock look too weird?

If you didn't build the neck should you really have your logo on it :p.

Haha nah just playing, I'd sand it off too.

It's a Franken-bass. DiMarzio pups, Fender body, Hipshot tuners and bridge, Aguilar preamp, custom WD pickguard, string-thru, side jack....

It deserves to have my custom logo (a picture of my penis) on it.

In my prime I would've been closer to the top or right at the top of that list. I just don't post as much as I used to.

I need your opinion on my bass' headstock color, not my excessive posting tendencies! C'mon, Spliff.

Looks nearly identical to this (no binding & blocks on the neck, though):

It's got a Squier logo on the headstock.

Spaceman Spiff 10-01-2009 11:12 AM

The bass is that color, or is it black? Make the headstock whatever color the bass is. Or just leave it unpainted.

BenJammin 10-01-2009 11:16 AM

So our 'band' is actually becoming one. We picked up a second guitarist, jammed our songs out for 4 hours last night. Another practice tomorrow, and we're actively looking for a drummer.

I'm still sorry.

I went to a show last night, and one of the singers remembered me from months ago when I saw them in Calgary. I was all smiles.

Hearth And Salamander is becoming a full band?

The bass is that color. It's going to be hard to match the current neck finish if I sand off the Squier logo, but I really don't want it on there.

Spaceman Spiff 10-01-2009 11:36 AM

If that's going to bother you, you should paint it that blue color.

Or refinish the whole neck.

Yep. We're in the process of re-writing some of our songs and cleaning them up for live performance.

Gawd. That whole neck re-fin is gonna suck.

I wonder if the local hardware store has that same blue/green color in a spray can...
