Simple answer - no. If you go http://www.ironmaiden.com, under the video section, they got a drum-cam for The Wickerman on that tour - you can see his one-foot crazyness.

cool - cos i wasnt sure if it was one foot fast or two slow - and why is his face stuck in that stupid smile position for the whole of the dvd?

Fine, fine members of the Iron Maiden community, I require your assistance!

As I'm sure you're aware, Maiden are headining Reading Festival this August. I am going, as are several of my friends. Because I'm such a lovely person, I'm going to the trouble of making CDs for my friends, so that they can make more educated decisions on who to see (for smaller bands), and can know a decent chunk of the bigger bands' material so that they can sing along, and generally enjoy the performance more.

So, what I want to know is; if you were given a maximum of 20 Iron Maiden songs everyone must know before they see them live, what would they be?

Remember, it's a festival headline spot and not one of their own gigs - Green Day had the same slot last year, and only played one song from American Idiot, so I'd guess it's safe to assume there'll be a good chunk of classic 80s material played. But then, you guys will know more than me.

I'd also like to acquaint myself with more of their material. I only have Number Of The Beast, Dance Of Death, the No More Lies EP, and Edward The Great.

Any help is greatly appreciated. :)
is niko using a double bass pedal in rock in rio - simple question - simple answers only required
nicko has only used a double bass pedal in one song (face in the sand) and he hated it.

why is he called nicko? i know it's something to do with when he was in Trust, but i can't remember why. and i can't remember what his real name is.

EDIT:
To Iai: they're doing their early days tour, so that's songs off the first 4 albums - iron maiden, killers, the number of the beast and piece of mind. 20 songs from those albums:
1. Prowler
2. Sanctuary
3. Running free
4. Phantom of the opera
5. Strange world
6. Iron Maiden
7. Wrathchild
8. Murders in the rue morgue
9. Killers
10. Purgatory
11. Twilight Zone
12. Invaders
13. Children of the ****ed
14. The number of the beast
15. Run to the hills
16. Hallowed be thy name
17. Where eagles dare
18. Flight of icarus
19. Die with your boots on
20. The trooper
21: Still life
22. To tame a land

ok...i went to 22...miss out run to the hills and flight of icarus if you want - most people have heard run to the hills anyway, and not everyone likes flight of icarus.

Seriously, he plays Brave New World with ONE bass pedal.

All hail Nicko!

Josh 04-01-2005 02:54 PM

GurS 04-01-2005 04:36 PM

I'm gonna 'guess' 20 songs that they'll do at Reading, Iai. Best way of deciding what to put on CD.

Running Free
Remember Tomorrow
Iron Maiden
Killers
Wrathchild
Drifter
Hallowed Be Thy Name
Run To The Hills
Number Of The Beast
Children Of The ****ed
22 Accacia Avenue
Revalations
The Trooper
Flight Of Icarus
Still Life
Where Eagles Dare

And TWO of the following

Strange World
Invaders
The Prisoner
Prodigal Son (here's hoping)
To Tame A Land
Phantom Of The Opera

AB/CD 04-01-2005 06:44 PM

Another speed question. For all the bassists here, what's the fastest song you can play with 2 fingers? Mines Aces High.

Phantom of the Opera. Blistering!

Go ahead, ask Eddie-the-Trooper.

Deth 04-01-2005 09:15 PM

I'm attempting to play the Trooper with 2 fingers and failing horribly.

YDload 04-01-2005 09:18 PM
I'm attempting to play the Trooper with 2 fingers and failing horribly.
Yeah it's tough; I still can't do it every time.

The best way to do it is to alternate fingers every time, not just with each triplet. I was used to attempting it this way (M=middle, I=index):

MIM MIM MIM MIM MIM

But it should be:

MIM IMI MIM IMI MIM IMI

It works slightly better that way, but sometimes I forget which finger I'm on when I start each triplet, so I have to angle my hand to each side in order to remember which finger goes first.

Deth 04-01-2005 09:21 PM

I always switch fingers with each note so that's not a problem. I just need to practice to get my speed up, I've only been playing 2 years.

So have I. I've just been so excited to learn Maiden songs that I've really outgrown my experience.

Deth 04-01-2005 09:37 PM

I get a little sick of the

A:---777---333---555---777

progression though.

vashts80 04-01-2005 10:27 PM

I know Brave New World and Run to the Hills to completion. Woot!

I might try Rainmaker or Wickerman later tonight, Wickerman looks fun as hell.

Thunder Fingers 04-02-2005 06:07 AM

The Trooper is so much easier with three fingers.

Riva 04-02-2005 06:15 AM

I cannot play Bass.

Blasphemy!

Riva 04-02-2005 06:20 AM

I'm guessing Eddie doesn't have a significant other.

And yeah, I would hope they played Wicker Man and Ghost OF The Navigator, Early Days or Not.

Paschendale and Montsegur would also be nice. :D
