Sorry dude, I'm about to prove you wrong.

It's "rep--" and it's correct.

It comes from programming languages using ++ and -- to increment and decrement a value (usually a loop counter) as an operator. This being the magical intarweb, lots of the users are programmers and/or huge nerds, so they adopted this notation when speaking of things in such a fashion that a value was going up or down, like geekdom++ or spelling--

OWNED.

You get a Gav Point...although that's still mathematically false.

This is why I hate computers.

Yeah I know what the speed of light is but it was changed somehow.
yeah in super heat ceisum gas, the speed of light isn't definate
Do you know what this means? There's some other constant out there. It can't be time because time bends with black holes and such.

It can't be space because space has different curves (Einstein proved it).

WHAT THE HELL IS CONSTANT?! If nothing's constant then all of modern physics is shot to shit!

Sweet, my first gav point. Haha, I understand that, but the deal is that using a+b performs a mathematical operation, but doesn't change anything, and a way was needed to be able to increment and decrement like I said before, but yes, it is mathematically false.

The speed of light wasn't really changed, for all practical purposes, it's still the same, but under unnatural circumstances they were able to accelerate a photon beyond what was previously perceived to be its terminal velocity, which is ridiculous.

irishslappop 02-27-2005 10:18 PM

hehe check this out gav:

rep=x
neg rep= -x
-x+(exsiting rep)= lower rep then before
-x-(exsiting rep)= the negitive difference...

ex.

-2+6=4 (hence neg repped)
-2-(6)= -8

irishslappop 02-27-2005 10:20 PM

seriously dude, but your right about time ans space, worm holes and blacj holes bend time, and normal gravity bends space.

 maybe if string theory is correct, somewhere in the hidden 16 aditional dementions there is a constant

But if someone has -2 rep and someone goes to neg rep them for -4, they will get -6 rep points. You can't be neg repped and go up. :p

You're saying I'm right about time and space?

And the string theory is crazy shit. I crapped my pants when I heard it. It's such an amazing theory it almost makes me want to believe it.

Another fun fact: It's something like 34 forces that constantly act on any given object of matter in Earth's atmosphere above the crust. I forget what they all are...I think the object has to be on a surface, though.

yeah its seriously rediculas. when i heard 16 additional dimentions, i fell out of my chair. it really boggles my mind that someone thought of that.....oh boy *gets dizzy*

Not only that but that they have PROOF for it and it explains the universe.

It's insane.

what do you mean like a generalized formula?
the fact that there could be dimentions withing dimentions within dimentions.......ehh...my mind cant even concieve that
I remember once in physics we had to make up our own theories to explain the universe. This kid who thinks he's a genius tried to explain his theory. It was this.

In the universe there are infinite dimensions that have humans making every choice. That is, for every split second of your life, you do a different thing in each dimension. For example, you wake up in dimension A and yawn. In dimension B, you wake up and scream "OCTOPUS!" There are infinite possibilities for each second.

I shot him down.

First off, the universe, while infinite, could not have infinite dimensions. They would have collided at some point. The universe would have imploded or something.

Next, if there are infinite dimensions, the odds that we are ALL living in this exact dimension with rational thought are infinity to one.

It was just the worst theory I've ever heard.
what do you mean like a generalized formula?

rise/run
It doesn't work.

Take a Cartesian Coordinate system and let x=3.

The X would be parallel to the y intercept, yes?

Rise = a
Run = b

So let's just say the rise is y (since it goes with the whole y intercept). Ergo, a=y. It does not move left or right at all. Therefore, b=0.

Slope(x)=y/0

Mathematically it cannot be done. You cannot divide by zero.

irishslappop 02-27-2005 10:48 PM

I am just a poor boy and my story’s seldom told
I’ve squandered my resistance for a pocketful of mumbles, such are promises
All lies and jest, still the man hears what he wants to hear
And disregards the rest, hmmmm

When I left my home and my family, I was no more than a boy
In the company of strangers
In the quiet of the railway station, runnin’ scared
Laying low, seeking out the poorer quarters, where the ragged people go
Looking for the places only they would know

Li la li...

Asking only workman’s wages, I come lookin’ for a job, but I get no offers
Just a comeon from the whores on 7th avenue
I do declare, there were times when I was so lonesome
I took some comfort there

Now the years are rolling by me, they are rockin’ even me
I am older than I once was, and younger than I’ll be, that’s not unusual
No it isn’t strange, after changes upon changes, we are more or less the same
After changes we are more or less the same

Li la li...

And I’m laying out my winter clothes, wishing I was gone, goin’ home
Where the new york city winters aren’t bleedin’ me, leadin’ me to go home

In the clearing stands a boxer, and a fighter by his trade
And he carries the reminders of every glove that laid him down or cut him
’til he cried out in his anger and his shame
I am leaving, I am leaving, but the fighter still remains
Yes he still remains

definately my favorite song to listen to when.....im......polluted
