2muchket! 03-22-2008 06:20 PM

Ahhhh Rose of Sharyn was the very first song I did a vocal cover and recorded. It sucked back then all raspy. My clean vocals were better actually.

vv nice, they put on a hell of a show

RetiredAt21 03-23-2008 05:43 PM

I'm really high on xanax and I'm listening to Kiss It Goodbye. This rules.

i am the robots 03-24-2008 01:25 AM

im currently sieg heiling to no wings to speak of

AFragileHope 03-24-2008 04:01 AM

Atm, I'm digging Converge, Botch, Poison the Well, Buried Inside (Relapse sign some cracking bands), Norma Jean (only O' God the Aftermath) and UnderOath's Define the Great Line.

Generally speaking, I prefer grindcore and deathgrind (well, whatever, I guess that isn't really a genre) but I did spread my wings a bit just recently. I used to like As I Lay Dying and Bleeding Through (both have killer drummers) but nowadays I prefer the more eclectic and experimental metalcore bands, y'knw. Seen Converge live twice and man, that was an experience and a half.

I guess The Dillinger Escape plan fall loosely into the metalcore category, as do The Red Chord (seen them twice too, tight as hell).

But yeah, for good metalcore, look on Deathwish Inc. and Relapse and Epitaph. Most of the bands there are so killer it is unreal.

British-wise, Architects and Johnny Truant take the cake - not a fan of Bring Me the Horizon. There is no real substance to what they're doing atm imo.

Concubine 03-24-2008 04:45 AM

listen to 90s metalcore

AFragileHope 03-24-2008 04:53 AM

Concubine.

Dear I'll stay gold.... etc etc

Jane Doe = masterpiece.

DBlitz 03-24-2008 06:58 AM

need new metalcore

AFragileHope 03-24-2008 07:07 AM

Try some bands from Epitaph, like Coliseum.

Or just google Relapse Records/Deathwish Inc. and Epitaph and find some, there are some cracking bands around.

Have you tried Shels?

Lego my Eggo 03-24-2008 07:24 AM

ye so i left after abr as i only wanted to c them. picked up a hoodie, pin, the singer came out afterwards and talked to ppl, met him and got his auto on a poster. yes i no autos r just autos but its something to remember about the show. 1st human abstract played and wasn't too impressed, a lot of diddly diddly sweeps every 5 seconds.

abr played rly good altho it was only 5 songs, crowd was pretty crazy. this is what they played and in that order: Composure, The Eleventh Hour, The Truth of a Liar, Your Little Suburbia is in Ruins, Back Burner. actually i think they also played against the ropes. i dont remember. i knew the set yesterday but mx wasn't working so couldn't post

Concubine 03-24-2008 07:33 AM

Coliseum are good, but not metalcore. Just sayin'

RetiredAt21 03-24-2008 08:43 AM

Coliseum are grrreat.

Tyler 03-24-2008 08:45 AM

Dude mentioned Epitaph, was he serious? Last time I checked they were still signing forgettable pop-punk bands and flavour of the week "hardcore", along with the odd gimmick. Can't say I've liked Epitaph since the 90s.

RetiredAt21 03-24-2008 08:46 AM

Yeah, Epitaph is gay.

FreeSmells 03-24-2008 09:01 AM

Epitaph has a few winners.

Tyler 03-24-2008 09:02 AM

Such as

FreeSmells 03-24-2008 09:05 AM

Well I don't know if all of these are still current (and all also not metalcore) but:

Bouncing Souls
Dillinger Escape Plan
NOFX
Parkway Drive
Refused
The Sound of Animals Fighting
Op Ivy
Transplants
Leftover Crack

...but the majority of the artists are pretty bad.

2muchket! 03-24-2008 09:08 AM

Parkway Drive are the only ones that really apply to this thread and they're awful.

FreeSmells 03-24-2008 09:12 AM
Parkway Drive are the only ones that really apply to this thread and they're awful.
Yeah I know, I said not all of them were metalcore.
I'm partial to Parkway Drive. I don't think they're anything amazing but they're an okay listen.

Tyler 03-24-2008 10:10 AM
Well I don't know if all of these are still current (and all also not metalcore) but:

Bouncing Souls Considering they're pop-punk and have been on Epitaph since it started to suck, this is irrelevant.
Dillinger Escape Plan One EP released by Epitaph does not mean they were on Epitaph
NOFX Haven't been on Epitaph since the mid-90s
Parkway Drive Garbage
Refused Epitaph was still good when Refused ****ing died
The Sound of Animals Fighting
Op Ivy Lookout!, not Epitaph
Transplants I said good bands
Leftover Crack Never officially on Epitaph. Were on Hellcat briefly, which I guess counts, but that was well before Epitaph went to ****

...but the majority of the artists are pretty bad.
My argument stands true.
