Okay, oh wisdom inclined one, tell me why the hell not, and in your oh so valuble opinion, what is?

The Conjuring, Holy Wars, Looking Down the Cross, Set the World Afire, Take no Prisoners. You know, songs that sound metal.

Lord Abortion 08-15-2006 03:43 PM

I rate the Scorpion and Back in the day higher than all those songs except Holy wars.

We must have different musical tastes. Or there is something terrible wrong with your mind. It's one or the other, but I'm leaning towards the latter.

Lord Abortion 08-15-2006 03:49 PM

Heheh, seriously though. You like the NWOBHM?
What's your favourite band from that period?
Other than Maiden and Def Leppard, who are the best band of all time and vomit inducing, respectively.

playguitar 08-15-2006 03:55 PM

There's too much good stuff, but a few are bands like Venom, Maiden, Priest, Angel Witch, Diamond Head, Blitzkrieg, Motorhead, I don't really know if Mercyful Fate counts in here, but they're kick *** anyways, Saxon, Girl School, and Tygers of Pan Tang. It's freakin hard to find some of those groups damn records, but it's worth it.

Nepenthe 08-15-2006 03:59 PM

Angel Witch are the kings of NWOBHM. Raven kicks *** too.

Well, Priest and Venom aren't really part of the NWOBHM, nor Motorhead, because they were around before in Priest and Motorhead's case and a little after in Venom's.
Angel Witch and Tygers are pretty good, as Are Diamond head, I saw them supporting 'deth last year. They were excellent.
You might want to try Samson, who had Bruce "God" Dickinson singing for them before he joined Maiden, and maybe Toad the wet Sprocket, Wytchfynder, Preying Mantis, heh, Maybe even Ethel The Frog

Jev 08-15-2006 04:18 PM

Why all the terrible names?

Lord Abortion 08-15-2006 04:22 PM

Because it was the 80's?

Jev 08-15-2006 04:31 PM

Of course.

pate 08-15-2006 05:47 PM

Ollie wins this thread.

Lord Abortion 08-15-2006 05:47 PM

I win every thread.

pate 08-15-2006 06:01 PM

So true.

NP: Eidolon
The Drovers are awesome.

Chu 08-15-2006 09:46 PM

I'd say Back in the Day is some *** kicking metal.

I really like Blackmail the Universe too :p

Aussie Ticket Details/Prices

http://www.ticketmaster.com.au/eventprofiles/profiles.asp?profileid=2977

$86 \m/

blue3 08-16-2006 04:12 PM

Expensive, but probably worth it.

Jev 08-16-2006 04:33 PM

I don't really think it's that expensive for what you're getting.

blue3 08-16-2006 04:35 PM

I guess. The Who concert I'm going to was 130 dollars..

Chu 08-16-2006 06:54 PM

I dunno, in my opinion I'd only be paying to see Megadeth, and as they have another CD coming out, maybe they'll do a tour which will be cheaper and have a longer set time.

eug008 08-16-2006 07:18 PM

Thats pretty much the same deal with me but since they are touring now they probably won't come back for another year so I'll probably go.

Sounds pretty damn good

Chu 08-20-2006 08:08 PM

Is it bad I find myself enjoying Risk? :p

pate 08-20-2006 11:35 PM

Yes.

...only kidding. I enjoy Crush 'Em from time to time.

Apocalyptic Raids 08-20-2006 11:36 PM

I've only heard Insomnia from that album.

I don't really intend to hear anymore, either.

eug008 08-21-2006 12:47 AM

Thats probably a good idea, never really liked anything off that CD

Jev 08-21-2006 05:26 AM

I think the only thing I can stand is Crush 'Em.

Drone 08-21-2006 09:04 AM

Not even Prince of Darkness? I love that song!

victim of changes 08-21-2006 12:04 PM
Not even Prince of Darkness? I love that song!
I forgot that was on there :p

Retrovertigo 08-21-2006 02:56 PM

I just started listening to some Megadeth yesterday, I forgot how kickass Holy Wars is. Not to mention Return to Hangar 18 and Rust in Peace.. Polaris

eug008 08-22-2006 12:45 AM

Rust in Peace.. Polaris is just ace

Jev 08-22-2006 09:31 AM

Yeah, I think they should play that one much more live.

jane 08-22-2006 09:37 AM

By the way, who did the solo in "rust in peace polaris demo" ? (in the remastered CD). Was it marty? This solo sounds strangely for a fredmanian solo .

Jev 08-22-2006 09:43 AM

According to the booklet, it was Chris Poland.

jane 08-22-2006 09:49 AM

Wasn't chris fired in 1986?
So rust in peace polaris was recorded before 1986?

Jev 08-22-2006 09:55 AM

I'm not sure. Either there's something wrong with the book, or Mustaine got Poland back for the demo.

Or it could be that old. Doesn't sound that old in the demo though.

Lord Abortion 08-22-2006 10:55 AM

Risk is teh ghey, really.
It's like Cryptic Writings and TWNAH without the good tracks that are on those two.
Like Trust, Use the man, Return to Hangar, etc.
