Flea markets where I got mine.
I think "Saucerful of Secrets" has me hooked right now. |

Right now Meddle is probably my favorite album (could you guess? ) But I <3 all PF albums and try to listen to them all a lot.
NP: SOYCD Pts. VI-IX (I love how it ends :sigh: ) |
My favorite album right now would have to be The Wall, although i find that there are a few tracks that are on the album don't add too much to the story and aren't even very good songs. I only enjoy about 3/4 of The Wall, but what a great 3/4 it is.

I feel exactly the same way. Although The Wall is probably my least favorite Pink Floyd Album. |
You know, I'm amazed this thread is still going. I mean, pretty much everything that has to be said about Pink Floyd has been said 3 or 4 times already.
Oh well. |
Yes but there's probably someone who just registered today who loves Floyd and they will probably want to talk about them. So this thread is still important.
So, uh yeah. Atom Heart Mother is cool. |
I concur. I have an AHM shirt that I wear, whenever I feel it's prudent.

Oh well.
Well, I'm sure everything has been said about them in the past 30 years numerous times, but that doesn't take away from the massive popularity. |
I know a site where you can download over 100 PF bootlegs, do you think someone could possibly upload AHM and send it to my email( leftbehinddjdh@aol.com )

Has anyone else noticed that since the Live 8 concert they've been playing ALOT more Pink Floyd on classic rock radio? In the past few weeks I've heard a ton of Pink Floyd songs they never would have played on the radio a year ago, like Welcome To The Machine, Mother, and Run Like Hell, just to name a few.

Nope. They still keep playing the same 3 songs where I live. Another Brick In The Wall, Comfortably Numb, and Hey You. Great songs, but I wish they would play something else besides stuff off The Wall. |
I only ever hear Money and ABITW (super overplayage)
|
Oh, that's rough. I actually haven't heard Another Brick In The Wall Part 2 in awhile.
|
Pink Floyd's album sales have gone way up since Live 8. Accoridng to Wikipedia sales of Echoes: The Best of Pink Floyd went up 1343%, while Amazon.co.uk reported increases in sales of The Wall at 3600%, Wish You Were Here at 2000%, Dark Side of the Moon at 1400% and Animals at 1000%.
|
Not surprised. They sounded amazing at Live 8, almost identical to the albums, and 30 years later too.
|
It's probably all the oldies buying up the CD versions of their old tapes and vinyls. I know that's what I was doing.
|
I'm just surprised that WYWH's sales went up more than DSotM's. They poured alot of emotion when they played WYWH at Live 8, though.

Well, it is their best album. At least to me, it is. |
I heard on the turning away the other day :amaze: .
(on the radio) |

Mother gets played to death where I live. It's a grear song so i'm not surprised. |

Agreed, I love The Wall, but it's such a teribly depressing album, it really has no ending to it, as they explained in the movie commentary. My favorite's gotta be WYWH, all the songs on there each sound unique and each one is great. I actually prefer "Have a Cigar" to "Money". |

It's an endless cycle. Notice how the album ends and starts with that little flute bit. |

And the "Isn't this where...we came in?" bit. |
I never hear any Floyd songs on the radio except for Comfortably Numb every once in a while.
|
I've noticed this thread has gone into a bit of a dip. There's nothing wrong at all with talking about random stuff like what Floyd songs you heard on the radio and what your fave album is, but when that's all that's going on, the thread sort of dies a little inside.
So I've got a new idea to motivate the loyal thread-goers. Make something inspired by Pink Floyd. It can be a painting, a drawing, a poem, an article, anything, inspired by an album, a song or by the band themselves. It'll help you really start thinking about specifically why you personally love Floyd, and make something cool at the same time :D When you're done, just upload and post it, and we'll talk about it :thumb: I've got a little something in the works right now, I can't really reveal too much yet of course, don't want to ruin the surprise... *cough* Echoes *cough* <_< >_> Have fun! :) |
holy ****ing ****!!!! i was getting ready to post a collage i made while listening to echoes on repeat
thats a scary coincidence... anyway ill post it when our scanners up :D |

But seriously, get it up soon, I want to make sure it doesn't look too much like the one I'm doing... actually, it doesn't matter, just get it up. Now. |
