YES.

I EXPLAINED IN THE FIRST POST WHY FULL ALBUM UPLOADS ARE NOT ALLOWED IN R&M. IF YOU CANNOT COMPREHEND THE REASONS, PLEASE GO BASH YOUR HEAD ON A BRICK WALL AS MANY TIMES AS YOU CAN AND AS HARD AS YOU CAN UNTIL YOU EITHER A) GO UNCONSCIOUS OR B) UNDERSTAND THE RULES. YOU SAID YOURSELF THAT EVERY OTHER FORUM HAS FULL ALBUM UPLOADS, SO JUST GO THERE INSTEAD. THIS IS NOT A DIFFICULT CONCEPT.

Go buy the damn CDs. The mods in here dont want to have to deal with legal issues like that.
Both Jom and King hit the nail right on the head. Both of these guys are ROCK SOLID members of the R&M community, if myself or 8675309 are not available you should really listen to these guys, they know what they are talking about.

I don't like full album YSI, I think its wrong. I myself have only participated in probably 10 YSI's and that was 1 or 2 songs from other users from bands whom I was interested in. 1 of the bands, The Mars Volta, I went and bought their cd, the others were not my cup of tea so I didn't.

I would actually like to get rid of ALL of the full album YSI that is being done on MX, I think its wrong. If you want an idea of what someones music sounds like then get a track or two from a fan who is knowledgable of the bands music and can give you solid direction. If you don't like the music then you and the band that created the music are really not out anything. If you do like the music then go buy the cd. You and the band both benefit from this situation.

Jenny!

Also, can we please do something about all the Ozzfest threads that pop up every year? I don't think I could count all the threads on my fingers and toes, including my mutated 7-toed left foot (I kid). Especially considering about 1/2 of MX is non-North American, it kind of means that we get a lot of cluttering of threads we aren't interested in.

In addition, for every detailed, sometimes irreverant review from an intelligent user, we get "OMG OZZFEST ROX liek BOOTLEGS 4 ME plz!" in abundance. Just create a seasonal Ozzfest General Discussion thread for people. It won't be illegal to post outside of it, but at least we have something to link people to. Of course, this is my afternoon rant, so it pays not to listen to me. :)

Excellent idea, ++rep for you!! I'll create it, and you guys can fall back on this post to show people that we do want them to post in the thread. If people blatantly disregard the thread after you show them this post then I'll temp. ban them.

I additionally plan to create an official "DimeBag" thread when the anniversary of the tragedy approaches, I'd like an intelligent fan of Dimebags to begin the thread and do a biography and picture tribute so you guys kinda keep this in the back of your mind and be thinking of someone to write it. I'll host the pictures they want to use in the article and I think we should decide on an official contribution fund (VH1's Memorial fund or something similiar) for all of MX to send donation to if anyone wishes to.

SonorKen 08-14-2005 02:07 AM

If people are curious as to why and who I ++rep, check out Riva's, Jom's, Kingofdude's, Dr. Jake Destructo's, Six Foot Revolver's, and Iai's recent actions through-out R&M. These are examples of some of the GREAT members of the R&M community.

If your interested in having +rep, having stars under your name, being able to positively and negatively rep other forum members, and want to generally be a great member of the R&M community then keep an eye on these guys and how they use the forum.

These are just a VERY SELECT FEW members of the community that I mentioned. I mentioned these because these are the most recent people I repped. There are literally HUNDREDS of members of this community that are great users and whom help out and contribute non-stop that all deserve rep daily. I do intend to +rep all of you as time permits!

Good job people!

Is it supposed to take forever to upload something on yousendit? I have DSL and it's taking me forever....

Stoic 08-14-2005 09:52 AM

This is not the proper place to post this since this forum strictly concerns site matters :)

(if you're experiencing problem with YSI you should try some other upload site like www.rapidshare.de or www.megaupload.com)

Jom 08-14-2005 10:00 AM

Hey Ken/3074326/whomever,

I understand the reasons for unstickying the July Metal comp results thread (I definitely agreed with Med, it was clogging up the stickies due to absolutely no traffic after the winner was announched, heh), but can you please re-sticky the August rules/regs thread for a little bit longer?

Alternatively, I can just re-bump it every-so-often, if that is more convenient.

Let me know :)

PS to Ken: thanks for the kind words, it means a lot.

Excuse me Mr.Forum boss

Can i please make a thread about fantasy festivals (In the Alt/Indie forum). It's not like fantasy supergroups. It gets peoples thoughts about live music and great live band across really good way i think.

Mr. Black 08-14-2005 01:41 PM

Welcoming you to the thread, Mr. Whippy sir.

Dr. Jake Destructo 08-14-2005 01:44 PM

Maybe you should ask in Alt and Indie if you want to make a thread there?

I'd like the make a suggestion concerning ***OFFICIAL*** threads. I'm not sure how well this would work, but why not unofficialize all OFFICIAL threads with less than, say 5,000 or 4,000 posts. I know that these aren't the main OFFICIAL threads that are usually on the front page, but I think if someone changed the name of these threads, it wouldn't be as cluttered. It's worth a try, I guess.

3074326 08-14-2005 06:08 PM

I'm up for it, but let's get some other mods' opinions on it.

I know Ken is a big supporter of the Official threads, which is fine.

Imperial Necro 08-14-2005 06:09 PM

please do not ban me

i am very drunk

i promis not to **** up

Riva 08-14-2005 06:11 PM

Well, changing the title isn't really solving the problem most people complain about. The rules state that you shouldn't post outside of a thread that already exists on a topic.

My pet peeve is people like Big-bird who always post outside the PF thread. Since that thread is already ***Official*** it won't change posting behaviour if we edit the name.

However, whatever you guys wish to do is fine by me, as long as you keep the PF thread open. :-*
