Make sure to stay away from crappy brands.
Go with a rogue! :p

fatbandit 05-19-2005 03:40 PM

Gackt 05-19-2005 03:41 PM

Schecter is a great brand lol also i don't really care... i just want a bass :p also im planning on getting a Ibanez GRS200 shortly after my first bass.... if its crappy

fatbandit 05-19-2005 03:43 PM

Psh. I recommended him a GSR200 as a starter bass. Any raise on that? Best I could think of.

Seconds this...

I REALLY liked a Firstact.

Yes, the Walmart brand. It had amazing fret dressing and good action. Seriously, the fret dressing absolutely pwned. It was astonishing. It would suffice for a beginning bass.

Schecters do truly rule! My next bass is going to be a shecter

Got a pic of the Walmart bass?

How funny would it be if Walmart started selling Wals?

or Wal copies...

PaulSimonon 05-19-2005 03:51 PM

DON'T GET A GSR AS A SECOND BASS. That be my advice.

Seriously, look up a Peavey T-40 on Ebay. They're cheap, made in the US, and tonally kick everything's ***.

Spaceman Spiff 05-19-2005 03:52 PM

I'm still eyeing up the Conklin GT4 as my next bass.

neal_672 05-19-2005 03:53 PM

I'd kill for a Conklin GT7

PaulSimonon 05-19-2005 03:53 PM

No pics, but the fretting job was amazing... I'm serious, it's better than a lot of high end basses. Probably sounds like crap though...

fatbandit 05-19-2005 03:53 PM

I'm off anyway lads

Spaceman Spiff 05-19-2005 03:57 PM

I don't think I want a 7 string, I'd just like to have a good 4 string for now; I've got a good 6 already.

Gackt 05-19-2005 03:58 PM

Bye chris, im off as well.... my fellow bassist oh my i can't believe i just said that lol

I really can't see what my band are going to say and how i took the piss out my bassist :p oh dear :upset:

Thx for all you're help guys!

:amaze:

PaulSimonon 05-19-2005 04:26 PM

I've suddenly cured my bass GAS, so well enough.

neal_672 05-19-2005 04:28 PM

Yeah i'm awesome thanks Luke :thumb:

How'd you manage that Andrew?

PaulSimonon 05-19-2005 04:33 PM

No idea. I guess it hit me when I was trying to match the tones of my T-40 with a Lakland Darryl Jones, and I couldn't find any that I liked on such a nice bass. It may have also happened when I realized I hate all B strings. I've never played a B firm enough for me, and thus my 6er GAS died.

tenorbass 05-19-2005 04:40 PM

hey guys

tenorbass 05-19-2005 04:41 PM

neal_672 05-19-2005 04:42 PM

Ah makes sense, but all B strings are gonna be floppy a little it's just a fact of life really... Try making your own?

tenorbass 05-19-2005 04:43 PM

hey left what is up

Left Shoe 05-19-2005 04:49 PM
Ah makes sense, but all B strings are gonna be floppy a little it's just a fact of life really... Try making your own?
That's depressing. All I ask for is a B without the dropoff in tension! From my experiences, it doesn't exist...

Jamie 05-19-2005 05:09 PM

My Brice 6er had a great B string! Wasnt too floppy, but it wasnt un-naturally tight for a B string. I loved it :(

PaulSimonon 05-19-2005 05:24 PM

Was there a dropoff in tension from the E to the B? I still don't believe that there is a B string that I could use, with the exception of a Knuckler or a Dingwall.

:amaze: 05-19-2005 05:43 PM

so ... i'm pretty bored. any suggestions?
