I'd like to think I only came back here to see if anyone had my Frosty Acres powertab. Going to adapt it to the piano. Anyone?
No. |
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zaireeka
No idea if it's even going to sound good, but my room mate really wanted to throw a party, so I'm going along with it. Gave me excuse to clean the apartment. The quincy is more exciting though.
Yeah, the quincy does sound more exciting. |
So about this place still existing
why? |
Yeah, the quincy does sound more exciting.
No kidding. I've decided to throw another party next week, which will just be camping themed. I'll invite way fewer people, cause I don't really like a ton of the folk that are coming tonight, and we will hang out in the quincy, and cook hot dogs in the fireplace. and wear plaid. and fleece. and everyone but me has to sleep on the floor. |
the **** is a quincy
|
So about this place still existing
why?
Why not? |
So about this place still existing
why?
Because some people still like to shoot the shit. What've you been up to? |
Why not?
I read the 13 Crosses thread today. That's why not. I've started the second half of my 3rd year. Hitting the composition and orchestral arranging hard this year. I also started taking piano lessons. Looking into moving downtown, and teaching some bass lessons. |
the **** is a quincy
hollowed out snow shelter. poor man's igloo basically. |
The 13 Crosses thread was hilarious. Easily the most fun that's ever been had on this forum.
Teaching bass is great if you can find the students. I got a job teaching bass and guitar but bass students are very scarce compared to guitar, which is a shame really, 'cause the guitar teaching kind of has to carry it otherwise it wouldn't be feasible as a primary source of income. I was pretty excited about it at the start but now I'm gonna give it a few months and move on to something else if it hasn't picked up. |
So about this place still existing
why?
Because not everyone is as too cool for school as you. |

Anyone? One day I'll learn not to delete things I make. |
In all seriousness, condolences for your lost song.

3-week winter courses are ridiculous. I have a final this week and an 8-page paper due on the following prompt:
Modern American history was a period of considerable intellectual, religious, and political ferment. It saw the emergence of new denominations, millennialism, Darwinism, Higher Criticism, feminism, the Social Gospel, and fundamentalism. These develops created a rift in the American religious landscape between liberal and conservative trends, but also, on occasion, encouraged novel syntheses. Write a paper that illustrates and explains one or several facets of this period. You may want to focus on religious divergence and conflict by comparing and contrasting two movements, denominations, or events. Or, you may want to write a paper that illustrates the reconciliation and synthesis of these trends. Or you may want to shoot yourself now for spending $1500 on this class. |

My last essay was **** and was just basically, "write 2000 words about empowerment". |
What's life like, MXicans?
First post of the new year, wtf. Have I really been watching these forums for 6 years? |

My last essay was **** and was just basically, "write 2000 words about empowerment".
I really don't plan on writing anything worthwhile, and I'm not as proficient with my papers as some of the others on this forum (Funky & Ben come to mind), but sure. I'm actually not even fully sure I understand the prompt, so I'm going to attempt compare and contrast feminist movements and Darwinism and see what happens. 8 pages will be the longest paper I've ever written. Gah. |
Lol same casual page for like 3 days almost.

spam it to move it on? come on, we're nearly at 500 D:

I'm coming up with a trifold "6-panel" cd booklet for our band's demo. They think it's ridiculous that I want to name our demo/EP and put a booklet with pictures and lyrics in it, but I think it's relatively inexpensive (I have the ability to do up to 1000 booklets for only $20) and will really bump up the professionalism for when we send off copies to local radio stations, venues, etc.
What do you think? Am I taking it too far with putting a title on the demo and a booklet in the sleeve? |
lime leaf=best ingredient
|
Depends dude. I mean we've done two demos so far. The first one was with proper art front and back, colour printed CD, jewel cases, and a booklet - though it was only a 2 page booklet :p I liked the product, for how much we spent on it and what it was.
The second one featured (IMO) better songs, more of them, better quality recordings... But we released it online as a digital download, in a zip file with the CD art. But nothing physical. And despite it being a better EP, I didn't like it as much because it wasn't done 'properly'. So I'd say always do it to the best of your ability. We're planning out the art/layout/typography for our debut album pretty much as we speak, and it's gonna be quite cool. We'll get an 8 page booklet which is nice. Nothing revolutionary or groundbreaking, but it'll be a sweet product! We'll get distribution into North America too, so if you fancy popping into a shop to buy it when it's done... ;) |
We've got this guy trying out to do beats and sample for us in place of our former drummer on his laptop. Gonna be sweeeeeeeeet
He does his own cool electronica http://soundcloud.com/edwardianunclenorm |
Well, presuming it's not bid up in the next 15 minutes, I'll have my 4-channel DOD 240 mixer to put on my pedal board. w00tness.
|
Just sit there until the last minute and if anyone tries to snipe you, get him back!

we gon play wit the spirit of Jah. |

I don't roll like that. I literally place the absolute maximum price I would pay for something as my bid and walk away. If somebody wants to outbid me, let them. It's usually not worth it to me. BTW, I won it for $6 less than my max bid. boo-yah |

Sounds interesting, how are you gonna work that in to the set-up? |
just use ezsniper. it isn't fair, but it gets results.
|
I think ebay should have some nifty (i.e. pain in the arse rules) where you can place the maximum you would pay, as usual, but everyone else does too (only once) and then at the end, just bam! you win/lose.
|
That's just um, **** I forget what it's called but we had something like that at work as a fundraiser. You secretly submit whatever you want to pay for something and if you have the highest amount at the end you get it. Silent auction? That's it I think.
|
Yeah, it's a silent auction. Ebay is one of the regular auctions where people yell out their price.
|
I'm sure there's at least one silent auction site out there.
|

It's just a very simple passive mixer, so I'll be using it as a 4-in, 1-out. Each of the inputs will correspond to one of my basses. All of the levels on the mixer will be set so that each channel has a similar volume. This way, I can just pick up a bass, flip the killswitch "off" on the bass, and have at it. It's sort of my take on an A/B pedal for more than two basses. All that's left to do from there is install the kill switches in a few of my basses and I'm good to go. Although it'll be some time in the future before I'm able to afford the parts, I'll be gigging a modified Spector 6, a modified Schecter 6, and a defretted Brice 6. I'm so excited to gig a fretless 6-string. |
God, Raayl is such a douche bag.
He'd be cooler if he wasn't so up on himself. |
